Museum Entrance
Opening Hours: 8:30 AM - Closing times vary by season

I took a Didi taxi straight to the Tsingtao Beer Museum,
and was greeted by this grand entrance.

There's a building that looks like a ticket office,
but if you've booked in advance like I did, you can head right inside and bypass it.
📍 Tips for Booking Tsingtao Beer Museum Tickets
The on-site ticket booth often has long lines or can sell out, so booking in advance is highly recommended for peace of mind.
You can check pricing by date and time slot, and secure your tickets at a much cheaper rate via the link below.
Definitely check it out before you go!

The ticket office area has water, portable charger rentals, and a rest space,
so keep that in mind as you head towards the exhibition entrance!

Since there are plenty of fun photo zones along the way,
just follow the signs and keep walking.

Keep going until you start wondering, "Am I there yet?"
Tsingtao Beer 1903 Square

The museum is largely divided into Hall A and Hall B,
and the route naturally flows in this order: Hall A - Hall B - Factory Tour - Souvenir Shop - Music Bar.

Before jumping into the tour, I highly recommend snapping a proof-of-visit shot at 1903 Square!
They even have today's date set up right in front of Hall B.

Tsingtao Beer Museum - Hall A
Route: Hall A - Hall B - Factory Tour - Souvenir Shop - Music Bar

The visiting route flows naturally from Hall A to Hall B, the Factory Tour, the Souvenir Shop, and finally the Music Bar.

Hall A, the first stop on the tour, takes you through the history of how beer first arrived in Qingdao,
showcasing its past and present, filled with both trials and triumphs.

The year 1903, which you always see on Tsingtao Beer bottles!
Tsingtao Beer has a much deeper history than I originally thought.

The history of Tsingtao Beer is documented in incredible detail, starting all the way back in 1897 when Qingdao became a German concession and modern brewing techniques were first introduced.
Since this was before the modern Pinyin system was established, you'll notice it's spelled "TSINGDAO" rather than "QINGDAO."

Today, Tsingtao Beer has undeniably become the city's most iconic, world-renowned treasure.
There was that one slightly unsavory incident a while back... but honestly, seeing how open and clean this factory is, I still wonder how on earth something like that even happened!

The brewery's past and present side by side.
As a major global exporter, the scale of this factory is absolutely massive now. I bet you can find a cold bottle of Tsingtao in almost any convenience store around the world!

You can also check out Tsingtao Beer ads through the decades.
I spotted some old Korean ads (which I'd never seen before!), retro boy band posters, and even recent ones featuring Chinese superstar Xiao Zhan.

Tsingtao Beer is always rolling out different designs for various seasons and styles,
along with some seriously cool limited editions.
This year's star of the show seems to be the Red Hare + Gold Edition,
with a flashy, traditional design dripping in bold Chinese style!

Even though we arrived on a weekday just an hour and a half before closing,
it was still pretty packed. I get the feeling this place is buzzing 365 days a year!
Tsingtao Beer Museum - Hall B & Beer Tasting
Route: Hall A - Hall B - Factory Tour - Souvenir Shop - Music Bar

Following the tour route out of Hall A
will lead you straight to Hall B right next door.
I was a bit confused at first because no one checked my ticket when leaving Hall A... but it turns out
they save the ticket check for the entrance of Hall B,
which is the real highlight of the museum where the beer tastings happen!

Since this zone includes the beer tastings, it's pretty much the main event.
Just scan your pre-booked ticket QR code to head inside!

📍 Quick Tip for Booking Tsingtao Beer Museum Tickets
If you didn't buy your tickets at the main ticket booth at the entrance,
you can easily check availability and book them instantly on Trip.com.
✅️There are plenty of great package deals that combine museum entry with souvenirs, food, or other Qingdao attractions,
and since peak times can sell out quickly, make sure to check availability right away!

Building B starts with a fascinating look at vintage equipment that beautifully shows the passage of time.
And check out the absolutely massive water tank...

Next up is a space dedicated to the **key ingredients of beer—water, malt, and hops**—with detailed explanations for each.
If you're a true beer lover, you'll find this section absolutely packed with fascinating details.

Through a hop-sniffing experience, you can see for yourself how
the aroma and flavor vary depending on the variety and country of origin.

Testing the different hop aromas with your nose—almost like sampling perfumes—
revealed such a huge difference! It was a super cool and surprising spot.

Right next to it, there was a station where you could taste-test a bit of base malt and special malt,
but unfortunately, it seemed to be out of order when I visited—nothing came out, ugh! 😭
I literally came here excited to try this!

Why even buy a book on beer when you can just come to the Tsingtao Beer Museum?
The museum does such a fantastic job of laying out everything you'd ever want to know about beer,
and since I'm really interested in the topic, I found it incredibly fun and engaging.

Passing through the beer game zone, which is a massive hit with the adult crowd,
we continue heading down the outer corridor.

An absolute must-visit photo zone, and...

We walk past well-worn, historic equipment and the old aging cellars.
Maybe it's because of all the history attached to these items, but there was a slightly eerie, mysterious vibe to it!
First Beer Tasting

Isn't this the ultimate reason we visit a beer museum?
To taste beer freshly brewed right from the factory!
We finally get to enjoy the first beer tasting included in our museum package!

Just show your ticket, and you can grab your freshly poured glass right here!

A freshly poured draft beer served with sweet honey-roasted peanuts!
You can seriously tell the difference in freshness just by looking at that perfect color.

The **original raw beer** served for the first tasting
has a much cleaner and crisper taste than regular beer.
It's naturally much fresher than any standard packaged beer, so it's definitely worth a taste!
This area was easily the most crowded spot in the museum,
but keep in mind that you can also enjoy your drinks and snacks in the connecting spaces ahead!

A fascinating collection of vintage beer glasses showcasing a rich history.
When you're finished, you can just leave your empty glass on the return counter.

There’s a game zone here too, but since it was only in Chinese, I skipped it.

But wait, the tour isn't over yet!
Once you polish off that 330ml glass of beer, you just keep heading down along the designated path.
The Beer Factory - Production & Packaging
Tour Route: Hall A - Hall B - Factory Tour - Souvenir Shop - Music Bar
Up next is... drumroll, please...
the actual factory section where Tsingtao Beer is produced!

Moving on from the old days of using wood and bronze...
to a modern factory completely decked out in stainless steel!
This is the brewing and production area—the packaging facility is up next.

Of course, we've gotta learn a bit about the history of beer packaging first.

Ride the escalator up, and you’ll arrive at the packaging factory!

When I visited, it was only an hour before closing,
but the factory lines were still actively running.
How should I put it... even though I work in a related industry (sort of?),
I've rarely had the chance to visit an actual factory floor in person.
So seeing the machinery in action, defects being scanned, and people double-checking everything
right in front of my eyes was so cool!

Though, having tourists constantly walking around above you while you work
must be pretty distracting, haha...

Now, the tour is nearing its end.
We're heading towards the souvenir shop and the music bar for our final tasting.

Here, you can also try some ✅️ beer ice cream.
Since the beer ice cream contains alcohol, it's strictly for adults,
but they also have basic kid-friendly flavors like chocolate and strawberry.
They have three flavors based on different beer types—Original (Raw), Wheat, and Stout. I decided to try the Wheat Beer flavor.

A single scoop is 38 RMB (approx. $5),
and they serve it in a cup with a waffle cone and a cute mini beer bottle stuck inside.
It literally tasted like beer in ice cream form.
If you love both beer and ice cream, you're absolutely going to love this!

Sadly, all my photos of the souvenir shop turned out blurry...
But they sell an incredible variety of items, from limited-edition Tsingtao gift boxes and large bottles of raw beer (Yuanjiang) to
hop-infused toothpaste and soap, beer glasses, apparel, candies, and more.
They really have everything!
Though, I have to admit, the prices are on the steeper side.
I bought the hop toothpaste, but honestly, it was just okay, haha.
Tsingtao Museum 1903 Music Bar - 2nd Beer Tasting
Tour Route: Hall A - Hall B - Factory Tour - Souvenir Shop - Music Bar

Your second and final beer tasting takes place right here,
at the Tsingtao Museum Music Bar.

There is even a stage,
and the music is blasting, giving this music bar area a real, authentic pub vibe!

For the free tasting included in your admission ticket,
just show your ticket to the staff and let them know,
but you can also purchase and taste a wider variety of draft beers separately.

They also sell side dishes like sausages and chicken to pair with your beer,
but they can be a bit pricey if bought separately. If you want snacks, I highly recommend
purchasing the 'Double Exhibition Hall Ticket + German Beer Meal' package instead!

We settled into a comfortable spot for our second tasting.
As expected, Tsingtao beer is so incredibly crisp and clean~

Since it was getting close to closing time,
the music had stopped in the music bar, but
they didn't rush us out and let us finish our drinks in peace.
The restrooms are also quite clean, so feel free to use them if you need to!

Once you pass through the music bar and a small souvenir shop,
your tour is officially complete!

The museum bar can actually be accessed from the outside like this,
so it seems you can enjoy it even without buying a museum ticket.

If you're planning a trip to Qingdao, I highly, highly recommend visiting!
That wraps up my review of the Tsingtao Beer Museum~~
