I arrived in Qingdao on a night flight,
so I **called a Didi taxi to get from the airport to the hotel**.
Since I traveled after 11 PM,
with a **night surcharge + toll fees added,**
the fare came out to **164 Yuan**, just for your reference.
(~$25)
The **travel time was about 50 minutes**.
3. Booking Price

While there are many **ultra-budget hotels under ~$73** in Qingdao,
there's a good reason why I say this place offers great value!
For a traveler who can't compromise on **cleanliness, location, and value for money** (that's me!),
finding accommodation that satisfies a **picky 30-something traveler**
among the ultra-low-cost hotels priced at ~$36-~$44 was impossible...
Even my local Chinese friend warned me to avoid anything under ~$51 ☠️
**This place, including breakfast, is in the low ~$70s per night,**
and the room was clean with no cigarette smell.

I booked a **Superior Queen room** with a long window for **2 nights**,
and reserved it for **around ~$146 including breakfast**.
It came out to **about ~$88 per night**.

**\*Atour Hotels tend to be quite generous with room upgrades,**
**or so I've heard.**
**If it's not fully booked, there's a chance for an upgrade,**
**so it might be worth trying your luck... ( > ᴗ • )**
I even got lucky and was upgraded from a **Superior Queen -> Executive Queen (with terrace)**!
I experienced the luck of an upgrade!!

4. Inside the Room

My assigned room was on the 8th floor!
First, check in at the lobby located on the 3rd floor of the building,
then take the elevator connected directly from the lobby.
Executive Queen Room

I thought I'd just be sleeping here for a short trip,
so I booked a **Standard Queen room but got an upgrade**!
Being a room connected to a terrace, there was plenty of space,
and having a sofa next to the bed was a huge plus~!!

I hear this hotel is **serious about its bedding and pillows**.
You can even pick out your preferred pillow from the hotel lobby!
The bed was just right—firm yet soft—I practically passed out every night...
**Tip!** The customized pillows available for rent at the lobby are limited in quantity!
If you're particular about your pillows, head to the lobby right after check-in
to pick out your favorite pillow in advance!

The bathroom is divided into three separate areas: a washbasin, a toilet, and a shower booth.
I'd heard a lot of "horror stories" (or urban legends?) about Chinese bathrooms,
so I was worried about the hotel bathroom as well...
Thankfully, this one was spotless, even by Korean standards!

Not only is it a common hotel-style bathroom layout,
but it was also incredibly well-maintained and clean.

As it was a short trip, I hadn't packed any shower essentials,
but the complimentary body wash, shampoo, and conditioner
were actually quite good to use.

Toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, and razors were all thoughtfully provided.
And the hairdryer? It was super powerful, so drying my hair
was a breeze with no frustration whatsoever! Haha.

In the fridge, there were four bottles of mineral water (seems like two per night),
an electric kettle, and tea bags, all complimentary.

I heard Chinese hotels have 220V?

While China's voltage is 220V, just like in Korea,
the outlet shapes are different, so you can't just plug in your devices (✋˙࿁˙ ).
You'll need a flat-pin power adapter (a "pig nose" converter) or
you'll only be able to charge using a USB cable!

Luckily, I packed a travel multi-adapter, so
I could easily use all my chargers from back home.

The Executive Terrace Room boasts a lovely outdoor space.
It's the perfect spot to take in the city views, so
if you visit on a day with good weather, it would be ideal for enjoying late-night snacks!
If I ever return, I'll definitely choose a room with a terrace again.
5. My Honest Review

I initially went thinking it was just a well-located hotel perfect for a quick overnight stay,
so I arrived without huge expectations, but I ended up being incredibly satisfied!
Even though I arrived well past midnight,
the staff greeted me with such warmth and friendliness,
even offering a sweet oolong tea as a welcome drink.
Just as I'd heard, Qingdao's must-visit spots like MixC Mall (Wanxiangcheng),
5.4 Square, the subway station, and Hema Mart are all incredibly close!!
Qingdao Light Show: Enjoy it from the Lobby!

A must-do for any Qingdao trip! To see the night light show,
you don't even need to travel far, which makes it even more fantastic~~!
I was actually planning to go out to see the night view, but it was just too cold and I was too tired, so
I headed back to the hotel, only to stumble upon a spontaneous (and amazing!) view in the lobby...
Sitting comfortably in the warm lobby, you can soak in the futuristic, almost 2030-esque
night view of Qingdao's cyber city to your heart's content.

If you head out to the first floor of the building, you'll be greeted by an even more expansive view,
and it's fantastic because you don't even have to go far to enjoy it!
Unless you're aiming to capture the entire nightscape for a professional photoshoot,
you can fully soak in Qingdao's futuristic city vibe right from your accommodation.
That's what made it an even more satisfying highlight for me.
It's a place I'd 100% revisit, so I confidently recommend it!
