Top 8 Qingdao AEON Mall Supermarket Shopping List

For those of you planning a trip to Qingdao,

you'll likely find yourselves heading to AEON Mall for some fantastic shopping!

Wondering what amazing finds to load into your shopping cart?

Well, after countless trips exploring China,

I've discovered the absolute **must-have items from China's AEON Mall supermarket**,

and I'm excited to share my **Top 8 shopping list souvenirs** with you today!

Location: No. 72, Hong Kong Middle Road, Shinan District, Qingdao

Qingdao AEON Mall is conveniently located just a 15-minute walk from May Fourth Square.

If you prefer public transportation, simply get off at Fushansuo (浮山所) Subway Station

and it's just a quick 5-minute walk from there.

When it's time to head back to your accommodation, your bags might be heavy with all those goodies,

so I highly recommend calling a Didi taxi to get back comfortably!

1. Yumi-chang (Corn Sausage)

Our first pick is Yumi-chang.

This delightful treat is essentially a corn sausage.

While you unfortunately can't bring this meaty delight back home (due to customs restrictions on meat products),

it makes for the absolute best snack to enjoy during your travels!

Imagine a sausage that's wonderfully sweet and savory,

packed with nutty and wholesome corn kernels.

The combination is simply divine!

Plus, that delightful pop of corn texture in every bite

will have you reaching for more!

2. Snacks & Biscuits

Our second must-have shopping item is **snacks and biscuits**!

Whenever I step into a Chinese supermarket, you can always find **Oreos**

prominently displayed. AEON Mall was no exception; the Oreos were impossible to miss!

You'll immediately notice the incredible array of unique flavors available.

My tip? Focus on grabbing flavors you can't find anywhere else, especially back in Korea!

I personally went for unique ones like fig, peach, and green grape.

They're distinctive, making them perfect for souvenirs,

and since they're sweet, you can bet any flavor will be a crowd-pleaser!

Next up on the snack list are **Lay's Potato Chips**!

Just like Oreos, Lay's offers unique flavors you can only experience in China.

I highly recommend the cucumber flavor!

The cucumber flavor is surprisingly a universally loved taste,

and you'll find yourself finishing several tubes in no time!

It's so incredibly delicious that I personally brought back about 5-6 tubes!

After cucumber, the avocado flavor was also a huge hit for me,

so I absolutely have to recommend that one too!

Beyond those, you'll discover other unique and intriguing flavors like Mala crayfish and lamb skewer,

making it a fantastic opportunity to try something completely new!

Beyond the cylindrical tubes, you'll also find **Lay's in bags**.

Just so you know, the taste and texture of Lay's in bags can be quite different from those in tubes,

so I highly recommend trying both types to compare!

However, if you're thinking about bringing some back home, the cylindrical tubes are generally less bulky

and might be a bit easier to pack!

The last snack on our list is **PRETZ**!

I picked up a set of Pretz that were bundled together,

and the Mala Lobster flavor was absolutely perfect with beer.

If you usually enjoy the taste of mala,

make sure to grab a Mala Lobster flavored one if you see it!

3. Sunflower Seeds

Third up are **Sunflower Seeds**!

You might be thinking, 'Why are these famous?'

Unlike Korean sunflower seeds,

the shells themselves are seasoned with a savory taste.

The seasoning that gets on your hands, combined with the nutty flavor of the sunflower seeds,

creates an addictive taste that keeps you reaching for more!

They also make a great gift for parents or friends!

4. Haidilao Mala Sauce

하이디라오 마라소스는 사진 상단의 봉지에 들어있는 제품이에요! — The Haidilao Mala Sauce is the product in the bag at the top of the photo!

Fourth on the list is **Haidilao Sauce**!

When you go to China, you'll find a ton of Haidilao-related products.

To make your own Malatang or Mala Xiangguo at home,

it's a great idea to buy Haidilao Mala Sauce.

I even tried making it myself, and it tasted pretty similar to what you'd get at a restaurant!

If you're a fan, definitely stock up!

5. Chinese Glass Noodles

Fifth up are **Chinese Glass Noodles**!

When you're enjoying Malatang or Mala Xiangguo, you often add Chinese glass noodles, right?

It's always a bit disappointing when you add them, but the portion feels too small.

While you're in China, if you pick up some Chinese glass noodles,

you can add as much as you want when you make it at home!

Besides the regular Chinese glass noodles, there are also potato noodles, sweet potato noodles, and more.

They come in various types, so be sure to stock up on different kinds!

6. Tea

Sixth on our list is **Tea**!

Since China has many rich and oily dishes,

it's a country where tea culture is highly developed.

Puerh tea (Pu'erh cha), black tea, and oolong tea are particularly famous.

Since I was buying for myself, rather than super high-end options,

I picked up some from the more affordable range.

I'm currently enjoying three types – black tea, pear tea, and Puerh tea – back in Korea,

and they're perfect for a relaxing cup whenever the mood strikes!

7. Beer

When you think of Qingdao, you absolutely can't leave out **beer**!

Especially, you can find a wide variety of beers that you've probably never seen in your home country.

The 'Original Beer' (원장 맥주) is famously the most popular,

but if you buy it from a supermarket, it just doesn't taste the same as drinking it locally.

The actual Original Beer has a shelf life of only 7 days,

whereas the ones sold in supermarkets were manufactured a long time ago.

Therefore, for souvenirs, I recommend buying beers with pretty bottles!

8. Gaoliang Liquor

Finally, a must-buy in China is Gaoliang liquor.

Even really expensive bottles you'd find in Korean Chinese restaurants

are less than half the price here!

I wasn't very familiar with Gaoliang liquor, so I asked a staff member for a good

Qingdao Baijiu recommendation, and they pointed out the two in the picture.

I picked up the slightly cheaper one on the left, Langyatai,

for 88 yuan.

After trying it, it was affordable yet both the aroma and taste were clean and refreshing!

Also, large bottles of Baijiu can be a hassle to pack in your suitcase,

and a bit much to drink all by yourself.

That's why I recommend Baijiu bottles around 100ml as souvenirs,

which are perfect for a light drink at home.

Most are inexpensive, ranging from 5 to 20 yuan,

so you won't feel burdened picking up any one of them!

At AEON Mall, over 99% of shoppers are locals,

making it a true local supermarket.

Therefore, the prices are reasonable,
