Qingdao 5.4 Square Laser Show 2026: Best Night View Spots
Don't miss the spectacular Qingdao 5.4 Square Laser Show! Get ready for an immersive experience with dynamic lights and videos across high-rise buildings.

Qingdao's 5.4 Square is renowned as a top spot for incredible night views!
The entire facades of the towering skyscrapers transform into a giant display board, showcasing a continuous stream of text, images, and videos. Among all the nightscapes I've witnessed in Qingdao, this was undoubtedly the grandest and most spectacular.
Let's dive into everything you need to know, from the best viewing locations using Gaode Map to the official operating hours.
Best Viewing Locations

📍5.4 Square on Gaode Map
To enjoy the Qingdao laser show with ease, head straight to 5.4 Square.
You'll easily spot it thanks to the iconic "May Wind" sculpture, a prominent landmark right in the middle of the square.
It's also conveniently close to MixC Mall, so I highly recommend combining your visit with a shopping spree!

📍Olympic Sailing Center on Gaode Map
If you're looking for a wider, more panoramic view of the entire laser show, the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center area is also an excellent choice.
I started at 5.4 Square and gradually walked towards the center, finding a perfectly good view without needing to go all the way into the Olympic Sailing Center itself.
Laser Show Times

Many older blogs might mention two shows daily at 8:00 PM and 8:30 PM, or only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. However, the times have changed significantly!
As of September 2026, the official operating hours are:
April 16 – September 15
7:40 PM – 9:00 PM
September 16 – April 15 of next year
6:40 PM – 8:00 PM
The light show repeats continuously during these hours. Since today is September 15, 2026, you can catch the 7:40 PM - 9:00 PM schedule tonight, and from tomorrow, September 16, 2026, the 6:40 PM - 8:00 PM schedule will be in effect.
Please note that Mondays are typically off for facility maintenance. However, if a Monday falls on a Chinese public holiday, the show will operate as usual. During major holidays like Chinese New Year or National Day, operating hours may also be extended.
The Night View Experience

I recommend arriving a little before the laser show officially begins to capture some photos in front of Qingdao's iconic landmark.
I arrived around 7:30 PM on a weekday, and most people were already finding their spots for the laser show, so there weren't many crowds directly in front of the sculpture.

Honestly, I didn't have high expectations for Qingdao's night view, but it turned out to be far more dazzling and beautiful than I imagined!
While it might not quite rival the grandeur of Shanghai's Bund, it certainly showcases that unique Chinese flair for glittering, vibrant displays. Everything just sparkles!
It's not just a few lasers shooting from one building; instead, multiple high-rise buildings are used as a single, expansive canvas, displaying continuous videos and messages.
The exterior colors of the skyscrapers constantly shift and change. Personally, I found this dynamic visual experience, with its moving images and changing hues, far more engaging than a static cityscape with just illuminated buildings.

If heading directly to 5.4 Square feels like too much hassle, you can still catch a great view while strolling around the streets near MixC Mall. There are so many buildings that it's impossible to miss!
With no admission fee and generous show durations, it's incredibly easy to fit this spectacular event into your travel itinerary.

After spending some time at the square, I headed back to my hotel to continue enjoying the laser show from my room. It was a bit foggy that day, which made it slightly less clear, but still quite beautiful.
The hotel I stayed at was the Qingdao Yihai Garden Hotel. You can find a detailed review, including information on rooms with laser show views, in the article below. It's a great reference if you're planning a trip to Qingdao!
