The Pullman Central Hotel is located slightly away from the bustling heart of the Bund or Nanjing Road East.
So, it's not the kind of location where you can catch the Bund's night view right from the hotel's doorstep!
However, the Pullman Central Hotel is incredibly close to Xintiandi and Tianzifang,
so you can even walk to Tianzifang!
Plus, with a subway station conveniently located right in front of the hotel,
you can easily reach major attractions by metro.
So, even if the accommodation is a little outside the absolute city center,
there were absolutely no inconveniences regarding its location!

02. Pullman Central Hotel Price
The base price we booked this time was ~$110.
And by applying the Trip.com discount, we were able to book a 5-star hotel in Shanghai for around ~$97!
It's not completely out of the city center either,
so for those who might find the location a bit ambiguous,
I highly recommend booking it without hesitation!
There's a subway station right in front, and you can even cycle to the Bund;
it's definitely within cycling distance!

03. Check-in at Pullman Shanghai Central
First off, we managed to check in an hour early!
Hotel check-in was on the first floor, and we were assigned
Room 2002 on the 20th floor!
We booked a twin room with two beds.
As soon as we opened the door and stepped inside, our first impression was how incredibly clean and spacious the room was!
The first thing that grabbed our attention was the stunning view outside through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
With an unobstructed panoramic view, the sense of openness was absolutely incredible!
It wasn't exactly a view for admiring the night skyline,
but the sheer openness of this space was absolutely incredible!
The bedding, in particular, was something I absolutely loved.
Personally, if I'm happy with the bedding,
my overall satisfaction with the hotel really goes up.
The bed in this room was in absolutely pristine condition!
It was plush, clean, and just perfect.
The room's floor was fully carpeted.

There was also a large table in the room, which was great for
setting down small items, working on a laptop, and
even temporarily placing luggage.
We actually came on this trip to celebrate a birthday,
and after mentioning it was a birthday trip via email before check-in,
the hotel had a birthday cake and balloons
all ready for us as soon as we arrived!
It was fantastic that we could request this as a complimentary service.
Isn't this what 5-star hotel service is all about?!
The bathroom had a large bathtub, which was conveniently located inside the shower stall, so
we didn't have to worry about humidity.
It was a slight shame that bath bombs weren't provided in the room itself,
but we just ordered bath bombs for delivery via Meituan,
and enjoyed half-body baths in the tub whenever we were tired.
The basic shower amenities included shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
They weren't single-use, but rather refillable bottles,
which was great because we could use them generously!

Most hotels in China don't have refrigerators,
but the Pullman Central Hotel even had one!
Inside the fridge, there were beers and other beverages, as expected.
However, when we mentioned at check-in that we wouldn't be using the minibar,
they didn't ask for a separate deposit.
04. Pool & Fitness Center
Honestly, one of the main reasons we booked the Pullman Central Hotel
was for its swimming pool!
When you go to places like Southeast Asia or resorts, swimming pools are usually a given,
but surprisingly, there aren't many hotels with pools in Shanghai.
The Pullman Hotel's pool is indoors, but it has large glass windows that open up the space,
giving it a wonderful sense of openness. It was also great that there were separate areas for casual swimming
and for serious swimming.
The pool area also had showers, and inside the shower room,
there were facilities like a wet sauna!
On the same floor as the pool, there was also a fitness center and
Pilates facilities.
We didn't get to use the gym due to our travel itinerary,
but it looked very well-maintained and incredibly clean.
I think anyone who needs to work out daily would be satisfied.
That said, it didn't seem to have a massive array of equipment;
it felt more like they had just the essential machines!
True to a 5-star hotel, it felt like a lot of thought went into the ancillary facilities.
