If you're planning a trip to Shanghai, one place that should absolutely be on your radar right now is the Museum of Art Pudong (MAP).

Set against the backdrop of Lujiazui's iconic Oriental Pearl Tower,

it's a world-class space hosting major international exhibitions,

Having visited Shanghai three times last year alone,

I finally made it to the Museum of Art Pudong during my last trip!

I was absolutely blown away by the Musée d'Orsay exhibition,

the Museum of Art Pudong (MAP).

In Chinese, it's called 浦东美术馆 (Pǔdōng Měishùguǎn).

Since it's right on the banks of the Huangpu River, it's perfect for a scenic stroll.

If you visit around sunset,

you can enjoy the stunning indoor art and the glittering city skyline at the same time,

Instead of just visiting the museum, locals often make a half-day trip out of it

by combining it with the Oriental Pearl Tower, Super Brand Mall, IFC Mall, and the Riverside Promenade.

This route flows incredibly well and saves you a ton of backtracking.

among the younger generation here as well.

As a result, MAP regularly hosts world-class collaborative exhibitions with international museums.

The Picasso exhibition runs until May 3, 2026,

so keep that in mind if you're planning a spring getaway to Shanghai!

There are three ultimate photo spots at the Pudong Museum of Art.

Each one has its own unique vibe,

and hunting them down is half the fun! 😆

First up is the rooftop terrace. ​

The Oriental Pearl Tower looms incredibly large just over the railing—

honestly, there’s no better place to capture that iconic, quintessential Shanghai shot.

If you visit during sunset, the changing colors of the sky

make the entire atmosphere feel incredibly magical and romantic.

Second is the corridor right in front of the 3rd-floor restrooms. ​

Here, you can snap the perfect Oriental Pearl Tower shot through the windows.

Seeing the tower framed within the narrow gap between the windows

creates an unexpectedly gorgeous composition.

It's highly popular, so you might actually have to wait in a short line to get your shot!

Third is the massive floor-to-ceiling window view on the 1st floor. ​

The stunning view of the Shanghai Bund unfolds

right before your eyes through the giant glass frame.

If you use the window frame like a picture frame,

the entire city skyline looks like a living work of art.

This is easily the most famous and popular photo spot where everyone stops to take a picture.
