Traveling with a friend? A twin room is always the most comfortable option!
When looking at hotels in Japan, not just Fukuoka, twin rooms often come with larger room sizes, which unfortunately drives up the price. It can be a bit disheartening to find that having two separate beds often means paying significantly more.
However, the Prince Smart Inn Hakata stands out! The price difference between their double and twin rooms is relatively small, and overall, it offers incredible value for money in a fantastic location. I paid for my stay here myself and was genuinely thrilled with the experience!
1. Price
So, just how affordable is it? For a Friday night stay, prices typically range from around ~$96 to ~$115 per night, and even on peak dates, you might find it for around ~$128!
You might think, "Isn't that a bit much just to sleep?" I thought so too at first, but once you compare it to the prices of neighboring hotels, you'll quickly understand why it's considered such great value.
For instance, even recently, a twin room at The Blossom Premier, which offers larger spaces and a public bath, was about ~$51 more expensive.

2. Location
When choosing accommodation in Fukuoka, the biggest dilemma is often deciding between Hakata, Nakasu River, and Tenjin. Which area offers the most convenient location?
Personally, I highly recommend Hakata!
It's the closest to the airport.
Hakata Station provides easy access for day trips and tours.
Tenjin is also just a quick public transport ride away.

Distance to Major Attractions
A 7-minute walk from Hakata Station.
(The bus tour meeting point at Hakata Station is a 13-minute walk away).
Canal City is a 9-minute walk away.
Tenjin Station is a 15-minute ride by public transport (or a 27-minute walk).
Ohori Park is a 23-minute ride by public transport.
While public transport is best for reaching Tenjin or Ohori Park, the proximity to Hakata Station made all connections incredibly convenient! (Honestly, if I was close enough by car, I even used Uber!)
3. Prince Smart Inn Hakata Twin Room
Check-in is a breeze with the self-service kiosk, where you just scan your passport. Plus, there are always staff members on hand if you need any assistance!

You can store your luggage here, and they even offer a cargo pass service. This is a huge plus if you want to send your luggage directly from the airport to the hotel and start exploring Fukuoka right away!

Basic amenities are provided in the room, but if you need anything extra, like pajamas, you can pick them up yourself from the lobby. They even have umbrellas available, which is a lifesaver if you get caught in unexpected rain!

Upon entering the room, the bathroom and shower are conveniently located on the left. The two spaces are separated, which makes showering much more comfortable, and the shampoo, body wash, and conditioner all felt quite good to use.

Directly in front of the toilet area is a dry vanity sink. Below it, you'll find a safe and a mini-fridge, all cleverly integrated!
Even though the twin room, at around 160 square feet (15 m²), isn't particularly spacious, the smart layout and separation of spaces made it feel functional. We were able to comfortably fit two 24-inch suitcases without feeling cramped.

For our one-night stay, we received plenty of towels and bottled water, which is especially nice for frequent showers in the summer heat!

There's even a small seating area in front of the TV, perfect for enjoying some convenience store snacks or a quick meal.

If you prioritize a clean and comfortable night's sleep but don't want to overspend, this hotel is ideal! I tend to be quite particular about hotel conditions and prefer clean business hotels. The bedding here was soft and spotless, ensuring a truly restful sleep.

What's more, the window crack opens slightly for ventilation, which is a great feature for those who are particular about fresh air!

The sleeping area and the bathing space are cleverly separated by a curtain, which prevents the room from feeling cluttered.
While fitting two 24-inch suitcases felt a bit snug, placing one by the entrance and the other next to the desk meant it wasn't overly inconvenient to move around!

Right next to the door, there's even a full-length mirror, making it feel like a truly well-equipped business hotel! Despite its compact size, this hotel manages to fit everything you need for a comfortable stay.
4. Breakfast
The breakfast here is perfect for a quick and simple meal! You can either grab it to go or sit down and enjoy it. I even saw local business people stopping by for their morning bite.

There are two main options: a simple mini-burger or a rice burger. You can also pay a little extra for other choices.
It's a straightforward rice burger style, which is perfectly fine for a light breakfast. If it's included in your room rate, I'd recommend it. However, if it's an extra charge, you'll find many more delicious options to explore outside!

If you're looking for a hotel in Fukuoka that offers both great value and an excellent location, the Prince Smart Inn Hakata is definitely worth considering! While there are other hotels with more extensive facilities and public baths, I often find myself barely spending time in my hotel room when I'm in Fukuoka, making those extra amenities feel a bit wasted.
Especially for a twin room, which can be hard to find at a good price, this place truly exceeded my expectations! :)
