Prague Itinerary: 3 Days of Essential Sights
Explore the magic of Prague with this realistic 3-day itinerary. From Charles Bridge to hidden viewpoints, plan your perfect European escape today!
Planning a quick escape to Europe's most fairytale-like city? Prague is the perfect destination for a compact, high-impact getaway. I recently spent a magical few days exploring the cobblestone streets, historic bridges, and stunning viewpoints of the Czech capital, and I’ve put together this realistic 3-day itinerary to help you plan your own adventure.
Since my trip was during the crisp autumn season, the weather was cool and the crowds were slightly thinner, making it an incredible time to explore.
Upon arriving on Day 1, the priority was checking into the hotel and shaking off the jet lag. I stayed at the beautiful Allure Hotel & Residence Prague, which proved to be the perfect cozy base for exploring the city.

I'll share a detailed, dedicated review of this hotel in an upcoming post, but for now, let's dive straight into the itinerary!
On Day 2, the real adventure began. I started the morning by crossing the iconic Charles Bridge, taking my time to admire the historic statues lining the stone balustrades.

After crossing the bridge, I made my way up the hill to Prague Castle. While the castle grounds themselves are free to enter and wander daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, the historic indoor spaces—like the Old Royal Palace, St. Vitus Cathedral, and Golden Lane—require an admission ticket.
I used the Prague Visitor Pass, which granted me free entry to all these historic indoor sites without having to queue at the ticket office. The pass also covers unlimited public transit, making it incredibly convenient for getting around the city.
Prague Castle Visiting Info
• Castle Grounds: Free entry (6:00 AM – 10:00 PM daily)
• Historic Indoor Spaces (Paid): Summer Season (Apr–Oct) 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Last entry 4:30 PM) | Winter Season (Nov–Mar) 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Last entry 3:30 PM)

After exploring the castle, I headed back down to climb the Old Town Bridge Tower. Climbing the 138 steps to the top was a bit of a workout, but the panoramic views of the Vltava River and the city's red rooftops made every single step worth it.
Old Town Bridge Tower
• Admission: 250 CZK (approx. $11 USD) for adults | Combo ticket for both bridge towers: 340 CZK (approx. $15 USD)
• Hours: Peak Summer (Jun–Sep) 9:00 AM – 8:30 PM | Winter hours vary, closing as early as 6:00 PM

Next, I strolled over to the Old Town Square to experience the lively atmosphere and see the world-famous Astronomical Clock and the gothic Týn Church.
Prague Astronomical Clock
• Clock Show: Free to watch from the square, hourly on the hour
• Tower Interior & Gallery (Paid): 350 CZK (approx. $16 USD) for adults | Optional elevator access: +100 CZK (approx. $4.50 USD)

The hourly show of the Apostles is a classic tourist experience that you can enjoy for free from the square. If you want to climb the clock tower for another high-angle view of the square, you can purchase tickets on-site.

As night fell, I joined a guided walking tour to experience Prague's famous night views. Seeing the illuminated castle and bridges reflecting off the river made it instantly clear why Prague is consistently named one of the most beautiful nightscapes in Europe.

My original plan was to do a professional vacation photoshoot on the afternoon of Day 2, but due to some unexpected scheduling changes, we had to push it to the morning of Day 3. This actually worked out beautifully because the morning light over the cobblestone streets was absolutely breathtaking. I will share the photos and my experience with the photography agency in a separate post soon!

After wrapping up the morning shoot, it was time to pack up, head to the airport, and catch my flight home, bringing a wonderful 3-day Prague adventure to an end.
If you are planning a short but sweet trip to Prague, I highly recommend picking up a Prague Visitor Pass. It saves you the hassle of buying individual transit tickets and covers your entry to major landmarks like Prague Castle and the towers, making your travel experience smooth, seamless, and incredibly efficient!
