A trip to Pohang isn't complete without visiting Jukdo Market, right?
But once you're there, all the restaurants can look pretty similar, making it tough to choose.
This time, I visited Galilee Daegye Hoesikdang, and it just reinforced that going to a tried-and-true spot guarantees a fantastic meal!

Galilee Daegye Hoesikdang is nestled right inside Pohang's Jukdo Market.
Given the market's nature, there are many similar restaurants nearby, but Galilee Daegye Hoesikdang always seems to be bustling with customers.
I highly recommend making a reservation in advance, especially through Naver if you're in Korea, to skip the wait. I got seated right away!

The restaurant was impeccably clean and well-organized. With plenty of staff on hand, ordering and service were swift and incredibly friendly. 😊
It was refreshing to enjoy a relaxed meal without the usual chaotic atmosphere often found in busy tourist spots.

If you're searching for a fantastic crab restaurant in Pohang's Jukdo Market, making a reservation at Galilee Daegye Hoesikdang is a must!
While Naver reservations offer discounts (which I'll explain below for local visitors), booking ahead ensures you get a spot regardless of how you reserve! :)

Parkdal Daege vs. Yeongdeok Daege: What's the Difference?
To put it simply, both are types of snow crab (daege), but the key difference lies in how full of meat they are.
Yeongdeok Daege typically has about 70% meat fill, while Parkdal Daege is 100% packed with succulent meat inside its shell!
That's why, for the same size, Parkdal Daege is significantly heavier, and naturally, it comes with a higher price tag.
We opted for the Yeongdeok Daege Set, priced at ~$64 for two people.

As expected from a top Pohang crab restaurant, the meal's composition was incredibly generous. First, we were served an abalone porridge as an appetizer, followed by an impressive array of 'skki-dashi' (side dishes). The variety was absolutely overwhelming in the best way!

From creamy corn cheese and sweet potato fries to marinated stone crab (dolgejang) and spicy raw fish salad (hoemuchim), every single dish felt thoughtfully prepared and high-quality, not just filler.

The mulhoe (spicy cold raw fish soup) was an absolute standout! The sauce was so authentic and delicious that after finishing it, I still wanted more. I even added some of the sea cucumber, sea squirt, and abalone from the other side dishes into the mulhoe. If you love mulhoe, this combination is a must-try!!

The toasted bread with crab cream sauce was another delightful surprise. It had a garlic sauce vibe but was surprisingly light and savory, making it incredibly addictive.

The crab set also includes a platter of fresh raw fish (hoe). Sliced thickly, it offered a wonderfully chewy and satisfying texture.

The refreshing clam soup even featured small, bullet-sized squid – a thoughtful and delicious touch!

Finally, the star of the show arrived: the steamed Yeongdeok Daege (snow crab)! For those who find cracking open shellfish a hassle, you'll be thrilled! The crab was expertly prepared and pre-cut, making it incredibly easy to just scoop out the sweet meat with a crab fork. 😎

If you want the delicious crab roe fried rice, simply hand over the crab body to the kitchen. There's an additional charge of ~$1. It's absolutely worth it, so don't skip it!

I chose to have one half made into fried rice and ate the other half with just the crab meat. I highly recommend trying it both ways.
The rich flavor of the crab roe is fantastic in the fried rice, but it's equally delicious when you simply dip the crab meat into it.

And the accompanying spicy fish stew (maeuntang) was clean, refreshing, and utterly delicious! 🤤

For ~$64 for two people, you get an abalone porridge to start, a lavish spread of skki-dashi, and a full-course snow crab meal.
Every skki-dashi dish was delicious, and the service was fast and friendly, leading to a highly satisfying experience overall.
Even if all the restaurants in Pohang's Jukdo Market seem similar, choosing a proven spot like Galilee Daegye Hoesikdang ensures you won't be disappointed!
