When planning our family trip to Taean, we spent ages searching for the perfect place to stay.
We finally stumbled upon "Pearl Bay Pool Villa," a private villa resort celebrated for its unique architecture blending Greek, Balinese, and Spanish design aesthetics.
Even from the parking lot, the buildings looked absolutely stunning!
Stepping inside, the resort transported us to another world. It has a completely different vibe compared to typical Korean pensions—so exotic and refreshing.
With excitement building, we checked in at the stylish Pearl Bay Museum Cafe.
We booked the spacious "Pearl Bay Villa 2," a gorgeous duplex layout spanning approximately 1,420 square feet, complete with its own private indoor pool.

The first thing we noticed was the beautiful stone tile flooring running from the living room to the bedroom.
We initially worried the stone floors might feel cold, but they were delightfully warm and cozy, thanks to the excellent underfloor heating system!
The kitchen was beautifully designed. While heavy indoor cooking isn't permitted, they provide a microwave for heating up quick bites and snacks.
Right by the kitchen, there's a lovely table that feels straight out of an Instagram-worthy local cafe—perfect for enjoying morning coffee and catching up.
Another huge plus for groups: the villa features two bathrooms!
One is attached to the bedroom, and the other is located near the kitchen. This meant no long lines to shower after a fun day in the pool!
Your Private Indoor Pool Oasis
The crown jewel of Villa 2 is definitely the private indoor pool.
It's surprisingly spacious, allowing the whole family to splash around and swim together comfortably.
At night, the pool lights up beautifully. The water is perfectly heated, so we spent hours chatting under the starry Taean sky with my grandparents.
The lighting makes for incredible photos! I managed to snap some absolute lifetime-best shots of my mom here.
The Grand Outdoor Pool & Bubble Party
In addition to the private pools, Pearl Bay offers a spectacular shared outdoor pool.
It looks even more magical in the evening when the lights turn on. If there are guests using it, they host a 15-minute bubble party around 7:00 PM!
The pool area feels like an ancient Greek temple. I didn't get a chance to join the bubble party this time, but it's high on my list for our next visit!
A Hassle-Free Earthenware Jar BBQ Feast
While you can rent a grill and cook your own meat, we opted for Pearl Bay’s signature "Onggi (Earthenware Jar) BBQ."
We requested our meal for 6:00 PM and headed up to the restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Museum Cafe right on time.
The slow-cooked Onggi BBQ meat was incredibly tender and juicy!
They also served a generous spread of fresh vegetables and a hearty, delicious stew. It was so satisfying to have a fully prepared, delicious meal without the hassle of grilling it ourselves.
Choosing the Onggi BBQ was definitely the best decision of the trip!
The staff kindly let us bring in our own outside food to pair with the BBQ, so we picked up some fresh local sashimi nearby. It was the ultimate land-and-sea feast!
Picture-Perfect Photo Zones
Every corner of Pearl Bay is a photo op. The unique architecture provides a stunning backdrop wherever you walk.
There's a designated photo zone right in front of the property that you simply can't miss. I took some lovely portraits of my grandparents there, creating memories we will cherish forever.

This trip was a special celebration for my grandmother's birthday, and seeing both of my grandparents enjoy themselves so much made it truly priceless.
I had left our family dog, Lotto, with my sibling because I was worried about managing everything, but I was thrilled to find out that Pearl Bay is fully pet-friendly!
With its spacious grassy lawns and private pools, it’s the perfect playground for dogs. I'm definitely bringing Lotto along on our next visit!
