We went to Paju (파주) with the kids and even our dog, Cochon,
to enjoy some delicious food!
The place we visited this time is Annie's (애니스) in Paju,
famous for its American-style Chinese cuisine!
It's a place I've wanted to visit for a long time,

But guess what? We arrived right during their break time!
Since it was from 4 PM to 5 PM,

It's an American-style Chinese restaurant
near Simhaksan Mountain (심학산) in Paju.
We arrived around 4:30 PM,
right in the middle of their break time.

We had to wait until 5 PM,
but we'd come all this way, so there was no way we were just leaving!
So, we waited and eventually had our meal
when their dinner service started.
If you're planning a visit, definitely double-check their break time!
Annie's in Paju: A Strong American Vibe from the Exterior!
Annie's had a distinct atmosphere right from its exterior.
With a large American flag and a retro sign,
it felt like visiting a local American diner, you know?

If you were expecting a typical Korean-Chinese restaurant,
you might be a little surprised by the exterior.
It felt different from the restaurants I usually see in Paju,
so I took a lot of photos even before going inside, haha.

Annie's Interior: So Much Fun to Look Around!
Stepping inside the restaurant,
the American atmosphere became even more pronounced.

Vintage posters, props brimming with American sensibility,
even the tables and chairs perfectly captured the vibe.

There were so many interesting spots to look at,
so I took several photos of the restaurant's interior.

Since it had a different ambiance from the restaurants we usually frequent,
it was a unique dining experience for the kids too.

We just came for a meal,
but it felt like we were on a short trip to America.
What are the Menu and Prices at Annie's in Paju?
Annie's isn't like typical Chinese restaurants
where you order dishes one by one.

First, you choose your bento box size,
then a base menu like fried rice or noodles,
and finally, your main dishes!

Box Menu | Contents | Price |
L Box | 1 Base + 1 Main | ₩14,000 (~$10) |
XL Box | 1 Base + 2 Mains | ₩16,000 (~$12) |
XXL Box | 1 Base + 3 Mains | ₩18,000 (~$13) |
For bases, you can choose from fried rice, chow mein, or assorted vegetables.
There's also a wide variety of main dishes,
so it was tough to decide what to try first!

Popular dishes include Orange Chicken, Mongolian Beef,
Honey Walnut Shrimp, Sesame Chicken, Beijing Beef,
General Tso's Chicken, and Kung Pao Chicken.

I've also put together the prices for drinks and desserts.
Drinks & Desserts | Price |
Soft Drink | ₩3,000 (~$2) |
Coke Zero | ₩3,500 (~$3) |
Milkshake | ₩7,000 (~$5) |
Langer's Juice | ₩4,500 (~$3) |
Bundaberg Lemonade | ₩6,000 (~$4) |
Original Pancake | ₩10,000 (~$7) |
Peanut Banana Pancake | ₩12,000 (~$9) |
Banana Split | ₩8,000 (~$6) |

The American-style bento box serving method is so fun!
What truly fascinated me at Annie's (애니스) was
the way they take your order and serve the food.
You pick your desired dishes, and a staff member
personally scoops them into your bento box.
It's exactly like those Chinese takeout boxes
you see in American movies!

Being able to see the food directly before choosing
made it so much easier to pick what to eat.
The displayed dishes looked incredibly appetizing and fresh,
and seeing them generously scooped into the bento boxes
made me want to dig in right away!
Even the kids had never experienced this style before,
so the ordering process itself was a unique and exciting experience.

Five dishes we ordered at Annie's —
Which one was the most delicious?
We wanted to try a bit of everything,
so we picked a total of five main dishes.

Orange Chicken
Mongolian Beef
Honey Walnut Shrimp
Sesame Chicken
Beijing Beef
For our bases, we chose fried rice and chow mein.

But seriously, every single dish was incredibly delicious, you know?
Since it's American-style Chinese food, the sauce tends to be a bit rich,
but it had a savory and umami flavor,
so it was truly delicious when eaten with rice and noodles.

Orange Chicken, Mongolian Beef, and Honey Walnut Shrimp were also popular with the kids!
First up, Orange Chicken!
This chicken was coated in a sweet and tangy sauce,
and the kids absolutely loved it.
It felt familiar yet had a unique twist,
so the adults enjoyed it too.

Mongolian Beef was delicious as well.
The savory and slightly sweet seasoning paired perfectly with the beef,
making it great to enjoy with fried rice.
The kids ate more than I expected,
so I was glad we ordered it.

And of course, Honey Walnut Shrimp can't be left out!
This shrimp dish, with its appealing sweet and nutty flavor,
was a hit with the kids too.
At first, I wondered if choosing five dishes was too much,
but as we shared and tried a bit of everything,
I realized it was a great idea to pick a variety of options.
Sesame Chicken: A Little Spicy,
Beijing Beef Was Delicious Too
Upon tasting the Sesame Chicken, I found it to be slightly spicy.
Compared to the other dishes, it definitely had a kick,
so it might be a bit spicy for young children.
But it wasn't so spicy that you couldn't eat it;
the pleasant spiciness made it perfect for adults.

Beijing Beef was also delicious!
The sauce was rich with a sweet and sour flavor profile,
so it was great to alternate between this and the other chicken dishes.
We chose five different dishes,
and because each had a unique sauce and flavor, we never got tired of them.
Even next time, I'll probably struggle to decide which menu items to leave out, haha.

Annie's (애니스) Fried Rice and Chow Mein,
These Were Absolutely Delicious Too!
While the main dishes were fantastic,
I found the fried rice and noodles to be incredibly delicious as well.
The fried rice was seasoned just right,
delicious on its own, and even better when paired with the main dishes.
The Chow Mein also had a slightly different feel from the typical Chinese fried noodles you find in Korea.
It was well-seasoned with a wonderful umami flavor,
and it was perfect for eating with the saucy main dishes.

If I had only chosen either rice or noodles,
I think I would have felt a little disappointed.
This was my first time trying American-style Chinese food,
and I was surprised by how much it suited my taste!
Paju Annie's (파주 애니스): Pet-Friendly,
We Visited with Kkoshong (꼬숑)!
This time, Kkoshong came along too.
When you're out and about with two kids and a dog,
choosing a restaurant isn't always easy, is it?
Even if there's a place you really want to try,
it's hard to visit if they don't allow pets.

Being able to dine with Kkoshong this time,
made this place even more welcoming for our family.
Our whole family, including the kids, visited together,
enjoying delicious food and having a wonderful time.
However, pet-friendly policies, including designated areas or store regulations,
can change, so it's always a good idea to check before visiting.
Paju Annie's (파주 애니스): A Must-Visit Even If You Have to Wait!
A Restaurant We'd Love to Visit Again!
Honestly, when we hit their break time,
I was a little disappointed about having to wait.
But once we actually tasted the food,
I knew the wait was absolutely worth it!

All five main dishes were delicious,
and the fried rice and chow mein were perfectly to our taste.
The way they generously serve everything in bento boxes was also fun,
and the portions were so ample that we felt completely satisfied.

Most of all, the kids absolutely loved the food.
From the exterior to the interior, the American vibe was captivating,
and it was fun just looking around.
It was also great that we could bring Cochon (꼬숑) along!

If you're looking for something a bit different to eat in Paju (파주),
or want to experience American-Chinese cuisine with your kids,
then you should definitely pay Annie's (애니스) a visit.

Next time we're in Paju,
we're definitely going back for more!
Next time, we'll make sure to avoid their break time, haha!
