Osushimachi: A local izakaya bustling only with Japanese patrons,
no tourists in sight.
With an atmosphere perfect for after-work drinks, where salarymen unwind,
and appetizers that are truly works of art,
this Hakata izakaya in Fukuoka was a feast for both the palate and the eyes!
Let me introduce you to it!
1. Osushimachi

Osushimachi is conveniently located on the
2nd floor of the JR Hakata Building.
Despite being right next to Hakata Station, a popular spot for many tourists,
it seems many visitors haven't discovered this hidden gem yet.

When I visited around 7-8 PM on a weekday,
the place was buzzing with salarymen unwinding after work.
They have counter seats (dachi-seki) and also table seating further inside,
perfect for groups of 3-4 people to sit facing each other.
2. Menu
Ordering is super easy – just use the
QR code found on each table.
The menu boasts a wonderful variety, from light bites like chawanmushi, tempura, and tomato dishes,
to fresh sashimi and sushi.
And when it comes to drinks, they have everything from beer and sake to soju and wine!
3. An Izakaya Perfect for a Drink
After you place your order, they hand you a chopstick holder and invite you to pick one.
Each chopstick comes with a little fortune paper attached to the end!
I was thrilled when my first fortune was 'Chung-gil' (medium good luck),
but then I dropped my chopsticks while eating and had to pick a new one...
which turned out to be a less favorable fortune! Haha, oh well!
Assorted 5-Type Tuna Sashimi
From rich, fatty cuts to lean, delicate ones,
this 5-type assortment allowed me to savor a variety of flavors!
I enjoyed it with a dollop of wasabi, dipped it in soy sauce,
and even paired it with the accompanying green onions for a delightful crunch.
And what's better than washing down a perfect piece of tuna with a refreshing, cold beer? Pure bliss!
Omakase MIX Platter
Having thoroughly enjoyed the fresh tuna,
I also decided to order some tuna grilled on a charcoal grill,
When we grilled it, lightly seared on the outside
and succulent on the inside,
it offered a completely different sensation than eating it raw.
The subtle smoky aroma filled my mouth,
enhancing the tuna's unique savory richness
even further.
Minami Tuna Lean Cut
Having tasted tuna as sashimi and grilled,
and finding it utterly delicious, I couldn't resist
ordering several individual pieces of tuna sushi.
And just as I hoped, the thick slices filled my mouth
and melted away delightfully, absolutely delicious!
Omachi Sushi is truly a tuna paradise.. 🤍
Canvas Toro Taku
This dish was an instant sensation,
making us exclaim, "Is this a work of art?!"
Tuna belly was elegantly spread across a canvas,
adorned with pickled radish and green onions,
styled almost like a flower bouquet. It was so stunningly beautiful,
I almost felt it was a shame to disturb it!
You just take the tuna and pickled radish
and place them on the small maki rolls provided.
The combination of the melt-in-your-mouth tuna belly and the satisfying crunch of the pickled radish
in one bite was truly fantastic.
And when you add salmon roe and fresh sprouts on top,
the delightful popping texture and refreshing taste made this dish
an absolute joy to eat.
Tuna Avocado Hand Roll
Tuna and avocado are
such a classic, harmonious pairing
that this dish is guaranteed to be delicious!
Wrapping the tender avocado with the tuna
in savory seaweed,
the rich, nutty, and clean flavors blended together beautifully.
Izakaya Omachi Sushi: A Local Favorite in Fukuoka

Osushimachi is located on the 2nd floor of the JR Hakata Building. It's right next to Hakata Station, a popular spot for Koreans, offering excellent accessibility.
On weekdays, we operate from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM, and then from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM. On weekends, we are open from 12:00 PM to 9:30 PM.
Orders can be placed via the QR code located on each table. The restaurant offers counter seating and table seating suitable for 3-4 people facing each other.
We offer a 5-piece assorted tuna sashimi platter, an Omakase MIX platter grilled over a brazier, and thick-cut Southern Bluefin tuna sushi. Particularly impressive is the 'Campus Torotaku' menu, plated like a bouquet on a canvas.
