Oriental Express Hotel Tenjin Review 2026: Perfect for Fukuoka Shopping
Unpack your bags and hit the shops! Our 2026 review of Oriental Express Hotel Tenjin highlights its prime location for Fukuoka shopping, comfy rooms, and essential amenities.

If your Fukuoka trip revolves around retail therapy, then choosing the right hotel location is absolutely key.
As I've gotten older, I've found myself willing to spend a bit more for a hotel with an unbeatable location.
The Oriental Express Hotel Tenjin truly delivered on this front, being less than a 5-minute walk from Mina Tenjin, Aeon Shoppers, and the Tenjin Underground Shopping Center, making it incredibly convenient for shopping.
I stayed in a Superior Twin Room, paid for it myself, and I'm excited to share my experience, including details on luggage storage and breakfast!
Oriental Express Hotel Tenjin Location

The hotel is conveniently located about a 3-minute walk from Tenjin Station's West Exit 1.
It's incredibly close to popular spots like Mina Tenjin, One Building, and Shin-Shin Ramen. Plus, you'll find Lawson, 7-Eleven, and Family Mart convenience stores right around the corner.
This meant that when my shopping bags started piling up, it was super easy to just pop back to the hotel, drop them off, and head back out for more retail adventures.
Spacious 248 sq ft Superior Twin Room

My room was a 248 sq ft Superior Twin Room.
It came with two single beds and a sofa bed, accommodating up to three adults comfortably.

It felt quite spacious for two people; if you're a couple without a lot of luggage, a slightly smaller room might suffice. However, if you're traveling with kids, especially with a stroller or extra bags, the Superior Twin offers plenty of room to spread out.

The bathroom was spotless, with no signs of mold or unpleasant odors. For a one-night stay, we had two bath towels and two face towels provided.

Each side of the bed had its own power outlet, and with two pillows per person, I, who prefers a lower pillow, was very satisfied!

A small table and chairs in the room were perfect for enjoying late-night snacks we picked up from a nearby convenience store.

Despite being close to a bustling area, the hotel is thankfully removed from the noisy nightlife districts, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. This makes it a great choice for couples, families, and even solo female travelers looking for a comfortable and secure stay.
My boyfriend even commented that it would be a good spot for me to stay alone next time I visit!
Luggage Storage & Early Check-in Perks

We arrived around 8:00 AM and were able to drop off our luggage right away.
On the day of check-in, there's no time limit for luggage storage. However, on check-out day, the storage duration varies:
Self-storage is available until evening, but luggage stored with staff can only be held until 2:00 PM.

There were also membership benefits available. If all guests in the room signed up, you could choose between 1:00 PM early check-in or two bottles of mineral water.
During our visit, late check-out wasn't an option, so we decided not to sign up for the membership.

On the third floor, you'll find a laundry room, an ice machine, and a co-working space.
The co-working space also offers complimentary coffee, which we definitely took advantage of! 😉

I initially booked my stay for around ~$148 including breakfast through Agoda, as it was the cheapest option at the time.

Breakfast is served on the first floor; simply provide your room number upon arrival.
I went down around 8:00 AM, and even during what seemed like a peak time, it wasn't overly crowded, and there was a wide variety of dishes to choose from.

They offered a great selection of Japanese dishes, including natto, rice, soup, and ochazuke.
Honestly, it was one of the most satisfying hotel breakfasts I've ever had!

On our last day of the trip, we dedicated a good chunk of time to shopping at Aeon Shoppers and Mina Tenjin.
Having the hotel so close by was incredibly convenient; we could easily drop off our growing pile of purchases and even pop back to rest when we felt tired from all the shopping.
BUT, if I were to visit again with just my boyfriend, I'd probably opt for a slightly smaller room.
If you're looking for a fantastic hotel in Tenjin for a shopping-focused trip, I highly recommend the Oriental Express Hotel Tenjin!
