Alama Haina Okinawa: A Family-Friendly Breakfast Review
Is Alama Haina Okinawa's breakfast worth it for families? Dive into our review of their diverse buffet, special baby food options, and tips for a stress-free start to your day.
Breakfast Review with a Baby
Traveling with a little one, especially when they're just starting solids, can be a major stressor. But the breakfast at Alama Haina Okinawa was a lifesaver! They offer ready-made baby food, along with options like porridge and tofu, which made us so happy! 🥹

If you're planning a family trip to Japan with a baby, I wholeheartedly recommend the Okinawa Alama Haina Hotel! 🥹👍🏻
And don't worry, there's plenty for the adults too, with a surprisingly diverse selection!

1. Breakfast Hours / Waiting
Service Hours: 7:00 AM ~ 10:30 AM
(Last Order: 10:00 AM)
The biggest drawback to Alama Haina's breakfast is the waiting line, as the dining area can feel a bit small! While it's lovely once you're inside and can enjoy a relaxed meal, be prepared for a wait if you arrive after 8:00 AM – it's practically guaranteed!
If you're traveling with a baby, every minute of waiting counts, so I highly recommend getting there as close to opening time as possible (an 'open run'!). For context, one morning we arrived at 7:20 AM and waited 20 minutes, and another day at 7:40 AM, it was a 30-minute wait.

If you have an early start or a packed schedule, they even offer convenient takeaway bento boxes. Check out the picture below for an idea!

2. Seating / High Chairs

Inside, you'll find long tables by the windows, and there's also seating available on the outdoor terrace.
During my visit, it was rainy and a bit chilly, so the terrace seating wasn't very popular.
(This likely contributed to the longer indoor wait times.)
However, by late spring and summer in Okinawa (like now, in May 2026), the weather is perfect for outdoor dining, so if you spot a terrace table, grab it! I hear it becomes quite competitive in the warmer months, and for good reason. Haha.

Since many guests are families with little ones, high chairs are plentiful and readily available – the staff often bring them over without you even asking! While the interior dining space isn't huge, the tables are well-spaced, so bringing a stroller isn't an issue!
3. Full Breakfast Menu
Salad & Appetizers
First up, fresh salads perfect for an appetizer! The avocado was so delicious, I went back for seconds. They also offer a fantastic variety of Okinawan local dishes.
Okinawan dish, Kubu Irichi, was absolutely delicious. This stir-fry of shredded kelp with fish cakes and pork was so flavorful, I couldn't get enough of it! Don't miss the famous Beni-imo (purple sweet potato) tempura, a true Okinawan specialty. And the Ninjin Shirishiri, a tasty Okinawan stir-fry of shredded carrots and egg, was also a hit!
Ryukyu-style Soba and seaweed-based Mozuku were also perfect as appetizers :)
A must-try in Okinawa is Umi-budo (sea grapes), and Alama Haina's breakfast is famous for its homemade mozzarella cheese! The chefs make it fresh daily, giving it an incredibly bouncy and chewy texture. Seriously, load up on this mozzarella – it's so fresh and natural, it's even suitable for baby food! 🤍
Main Menu
You can't come to Okinawa and not try Agu Pork Shabu-Shabu. A light dip in ponzu sauce made it absolutely delicious! The fried white fish is fantastic with a dollop of tartar sauce.
Beyond that, you'll find a variety of other main dishes like stir-fried chicken and vegetables, crispy bacon, and savory sausages. While the dining hall might initially seem a bit compact, the selection of dishes is surprisingly extensive!
Fresh Seasonal Sashimi
The selection of fresh sashimi changes daily, offering a delightful surprise each morning! Right next to the sashimi, there's a live omelet station. A fantastic tip for parents: if you ask for a 'baby omelet,' they'll prepare it without any salt, making it perfect for your little one! 👍🏻
Bakery & Smoothies
Two absolute must-tries from Alama Haina's bakery are the freshly baked croissants and the French toast. My sweet tooth led me straight to the French toast, while my husband couldn't get enough of the croissants!
Besides what's pictured, there are usually 3-4 other smoothie flavors available!
Dessert
The dessert selection is absolutely divine! ㅠㅠㅠㅠ The pudding, for instance, was far superior to anything you'd find at a convenience store. ㅠㅠ
Did you know Okinawa is renowned for its pineapples?! They were incredibly sweet and refreshing – I kept going back for more! I even had my first watermelon of 2026 here! 🤍

With donuts hanging from a whimsical tree display and a variety of ice cream, it was a truly perfect dessert spread! 🤭 Seriously, do NOT skip breakfast here!!

Coffee Takeout
One of the best perks of Alama Haina's breakfast is the availability of takeaway cups, so you can grab a coffee (or choose from their diverse tea selection) to go! Finishing breakfast with a fresh coffee and heading straight to Churaumi Aquarium was just perfect! Haha.
What I Fed My Baby!

True to its family-friendly reputation, this hotel offers ready-made baby food – a total game-changer! They feature Kewpie, a popular Japanese baby food brand, with two options: a banana + strawberry puree suitable for 5-month-olds and a white fish + vegetable blend for 7-month-olds.
My baby loved the green-colored option, perhaps because it had a bit more flavor, happily munching away. But when she started losing interest,

I gave her the plain white rice porridge, topped with a little egg and seaweed flakes, which they also provide. Having porridge available was such a blessing! 🤍

Baby plates and cutlery are all provided :)
However, it's worth noting that the breakfast price can be a bit steep if paid separately...
4. Breakfast Price Increase
Alama Haina's breakfast has gained popularity recently, leading to a noticeable price increase. Ugh.
If you pay on-site, the breakfast costs:
✅ Adults: ~$28
✅ Children (6-12 years old): ~$11
(Children 5 and under eat free)
This makes it more expensive than some 5-star hotels, like the Ryukyu Hotel. ㅠㅠ
However, if you're traveling with a baby and want the convenience, it's absolutely worth booking a room that includes breakfast! Booking a breakfast-inclusive package in advance can often cut the cost by nearly half!
I've put together a table with the lowest prices for breakfast-inclusive packages:
▼▼▼
Booking Link (Click) | 1-Night Price with Breakfast |
~$119~ | |
~$129~ | |
~$138~ |
Clicking these links will take you directly to Alama Haina's listings. Prices vary by check-in date, so be sure to compare all four sites to find the best deal! I personally found Agoda to be the most affordable and booked through them.
