Hello, everyone! +_+
☀️ With record-breaking heat forecasted for this year,
I'm sure you're all searching for crystal-clear seas to dive into! 🤿🫧
Today, I'm sharing my review of Odo-ri Beach, which is super trendy right now
as Pohang's ultimate snorkeling hotspot!
Odo-ri Beach actually has two distinct areas—Odo 1-ri and Odo 2-ri—and their vibes are completely different,
so it’s super helpful to know what to expect before you go.
From the best car camping (chabak) spots to the perfect ocean weather conditions for snorkeling,
I've packed this post with insider tips, so keep reading!
👀 At a Glance: Odo 1-ri VS Odo 2-ri Quick Summary
Category | Odo 1-ri | Odo 2-ri |
🏖️ Features | Sandy Beach + Shallow Rocks | Pebbles + Shallow Rocks |
🐡 Vibe | 🌊 Stunningly Beautiful & Crystal Clear | 🌿 Peaceful, Cozy Countryside Sea |
❓ Parking Difficulty | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Very crowded, full by 9 AM) | ⭐⭐ (Relatively spacious) |
🥸 Recommended For | Lively snorkeling, families with kids | Quiet relaxation, leisurely swimming |
🐝 Pro Tip | Rather than the exact center of the beach, the left and right sides are the best snorkeling spots! |
Odo 1-ri Beach
A natural pool created by unique rock formations - 🌊

This is Entrance Route 1.
We came from the Chilpo side, and the road was quite narrow.
Entrance Route 2 is actually a bit wider,
so taking Route 2 might be much easier for you.

Along the beach, facing the ocean,
there are parking lines for perpendicular parking,
making the entire beachfront a prime spot for car camping!

Here are the views of Odo 1-ri Beach
from the left, center, and right sides.
The left and right sides have unique rocky formations,
making the water shallow and perfect for snorkeling!

Especially on the right side, there is a spacious parking lot,
making the competition for car camping spots super fierce.
⚠️ However, when the waves are rough,
seawater can splash all the way into the parking lot,
so you should only camp here on calm, waveless days..!
(In fact, during the third week of June '26, the waves actually spilled over)

This is the view of Odo 1-ri Beach
seen from the unique rocky terrain on the right.
The sunlight reflecting off the water is incredibly refreshing! ✨
During my visit in June, the seaweed and sargassum
dancing underwater looked absolutely gorgeous,
and seeing kids having fun catching little fish and crabs
looked so joyful.

This time, I headed to the far left of the beach.
Thanks to the unique rock formations, the water here was also shallow,
and since it was nicely shaded, many people were just chilling on picnic mats.
However, the water gets very deep beyond the edge of the rocks,
so if you are visiting with kids who aren't strong swimmers,
they must wear a life jacket.

If you walk all the way to the left,
right between Odo 1-ri and Odo 2-ri Beaches,
there is a newly built observatory deck.

A must-visit spot by the Pohang sea!
You get a panoramic view of Odori Beach's unique rocky landscape.
The waves were quite strong on this day,

⚠️ Essential Checklist
Pohang Odori Beach does not have a breakwater
or geological features to block incoming waves.
During my first visit, the water was a bit murky due to the strong waves,
making it difficult to go snorkeling.
On the other hand, as long as there are no waves, the water is crystal clear
and makes for the absolute perfect snorkeling spot.
Try to visit on a low-wind day when the wave height is under 0.5 meters.
Checking the live feed on the Pohang Disaster & Weather Information System website
before heading out
is a great pro-tip!

Odo 2-ri Beach

Welcome to Odo 2-ri Beach.
It shares a similar unique rocky landscape,
but instead of sand, it's a pebble and stone beach.
-73.jpg?type=w3840)
Compared to Odo 1-ri Beach,
there are almost no people here.
Because of that, the beach size is also about a third of the size,
making it extremely small,
but there's a CU convenience store nearby, and it's great for car camping (chabak) parking.
However, the lack of a restroom nearby
was a major downside. 🥲
(You have to walk all the way to the Odo 1-ri restrooms or the Odo 2-ri breakwater)

Just dipping my toes in the water at Odo 2-ri Beach,
and I found a baby horned turban shell! ✨
It would be absolutely perfect for snorkeling when there are no waves.
And that wraps up my quick introduction to Odo 2-ri!
✨ The Verdict

✅ Who I Recommend Odo 1-ri Beach For
Those who want a pretty, aesthetic sandy beach vibe + snorkeling + a trendy, lively beach scene.
✅ Who I Recommend Odo 2-ri Beach For
Those who hate crowds and just want to relax peacefully on a quiet pebble beach.
✅ Recommended Packing List
Aqua shoes (or Crocs), snorkeling gear,
tissues (no toilet paper in the restrooms), an empty plastic bottle (to fill with water for rinsing your feet),
trash bags, a hat, a parasol, a picnic mat, etc.
