Many of you might be looking to escape the scorching summer back home by heading to
wintery Sydney, right?
You're probably wondering which accommodation to choose in the city.
💡Many of you are likely looking for **self-catering accommodation to keep your budget in check**, aren't you?
Today, I'll introduce you to the **Oaks Hotel Castlereagh Suites**, which I personally enjoyed for **4 nights** during my trip!
**Oaks Sydney** is located just about two blocks from the main street of **Sydney's Chinatown**, making its
**✅accessibility quite excellent**.
In front, you'll find Thai Street bustling with delicious Thai restaurants. During the day, there's a fair amount of foot traffic, and since it's close to the main streets even at night, it felt like a very safe location!
What's more, even though it offers **cooking facilities**,
✅at the time, it was **under ~$104 per night**, offering excellent value for money, which is why I chose this accommodation.

Next, I'll provide an introduction to the **Oaks Hotel** and
share my **actual stay review**!
The lobby felt a bit dated but was spacious and clean. I checked in with a foreign staff member, but I confirmed that a **Korean staff member was also present during check-out**.
You can **safely store your luggage behind the counter**. Since it's kept in a separate area, the risk of theft was relatively low.
Additionally, one thing to note is that they initially informed us we needed to return used towels to get fresh ones. However, when I asked a different staff member two days later, they kindly provided **extra towels without any separate verification**!
We booked the most affordable room, the **Studio Room**. We were assigned room 568B, and it had a unique structure: upon opening the door to room 568, it split into separate A and B units.
The interior was spacious enough to open two large suitcases comfortably.
Also, being a residence-style accommodation rather than a typical hotel, its structure was **closer to a serviced apartment, making it much cozier**. All the necessary furniture like a bed, sofa, and desk were thoughtfully arranged in the room, making it incredibly convenient!

Next, while the **bathroom** interior is a bit dated,
The bathroom was generally very clean.
With the toilet, shower, and sink all separated,
it was no problem for multiple people to use them simultaneously.
I also loved that ✅conditioner, shampoo, and body wash were all
provided.
However, the conditioner wasn't quite as rich or shine-inducing as Korean products,
so I highly recommend bringing
your own single-use packets or samples if possible.
Since it's a residence-style accommodation, the in-room amenities were
much more comprehensive than a typical hotel.
Not only were ✅ironing supplies, a drying rack, and hangers available,
but there was also a coffee pot and microwave, so
those staying for a longer period can truly feel at home.
We stayed here for 4 nights,
and I even did some handwashing for underwear and innerwear.
Having a large drying rack made it incredibly convenient!
💡Of course, the most important thing is whether cooking is possible, right?
If you open the cabinet section next to the bathroom,
a small cooking area is revealed.
It's equipped with a small sink and a two-burner induction cooktop,
and there's even an exhaust fan above.
✅Plates, a frying pan, pots, and cutlery were all
provided, so we didn't need to bring any separate cooking utensils.
❗️However, there are no tongs or scissors, so if you plan on grilling meat,
I recommend bringing them from home beforehand.
I grilled meat here every single day of my stay!
Both beef and lamb ribs were cheaper than in Korea,
and they tasted excellent, making it truly rewarding to cook our own meals!
The accommodation doesn't provide seasonings or oil.
You can buy small packets of seasonings at the supermarket,
and for grilling oil, when you buy meat,
look for options that include 'butter' – just a little tip!
Finally, I didn't have high expectations for the accommodation view when I booked,
but it turned out to be quite impressive!
With an expansive view and trains passing by below,
it offered a surprisingly charming and atmospheric scene.
Given that it's a budget-friendly accommodation, I honestly didn't think we'd get
a view like this.
It was a far more satisfying landscape than I ever imagined!
Since accommodations in Australia can be quite pricey,
💡many of you are probably on the hunt for a hotel that offers cooking facilities while also being fantastic value for money.
And Oaks Hotel was exactly that — a
fantastic value stay with kitchen facilities that ticked all the boxes!
What’s more, it’s situated in a relatively safe downtown area,
right near Chinatown.
Even late in the evening, the area buzzes with people,
so we felt completely safe walking around without any major concerns!

The Studio Room, which is the most affordable room, has a unique structure where opening the door to Room 568 reveals it's divided into Room A and Room B. The interior is spacious enough to fully open two large suitcases.
The kitchenette is fully equipped with a small sink, a two-burner induction cooktop, dishes, a frying pan, pots, and cutlery. However, tongs and scissors are not provided, so if you plan to grill meat, it's advisable to bring them yourself.
