When special occasions like birthdays or family gatherings roll around in Monterrey, Mexico, there's one spot we always find ourselves returning to. That's Noreste Grill, a true Monterrey gem, and the best part? They offer complimentary tequila shots!

1. Location

You'll find most Noreste Grill locations in Nuevo León, the state where Monterrey is located, but they also have branches in Mexico City, Saltillo, and other cities.

The particular branch we always visit is the one at Paseo La Fe, a popular shopping mall in Monterrey.

What started as a spontaneous visit quickly turned us into regulars. Plus, the view from outside the restaurant is an added bonus!

The important thing to remember is that any Noreste Grill location offers complimentary tequila shots, so you can visit whichever branch is most convenient for you!

2. Inside the Restaurant

As a Mexican family restaurant, the interior is incredibly spacious.

Most Mexican family restaurants, including Noreste Grill, feature dedicated kids' zones, making them incredibly child-friendly.

(And I'll let you in on a secret: with arcade games inside, even adults like me enjoy hanging out there!)

What's more, their restrooms even offer mouthwash – a rare find in Mexico – showing their commitment to cleanliness!

3. Menu Highlights

The menu is packed with authentic Mexican dishes. With a slightly smaller selection than some other places, it actually makes choosing a bit easier. They also have a dedicated kids' menu.

In Mexico, it's customary to order drinks first. I went for a Piña Colada Margarita with a beer bottle plunged in, while my friend chose the truly authentic Mexican flavor of Mango con Chamoy.

After ordering your drinks, simply ask for tequila shots, and they'll bring you as many as you want, absolutely free of charge (!).

(For anyone who loves a good drink, this is pure heaven!🍶)

However, as you might know, tequila can be pretty strong, so personally, I cap it at three shots!🤣

Beyond the free tequila, another fantastic perk is that they prepare custom salsa right at your table with ingredients you choose. With fresh onions, garlic, and more, the salsa is perfectly tailored to your taste buds.

And of course, this amazing salsa service is also complimentary!

Having visited about five times, I've had the chance to try almost everything on the menu. My personal recommendation? Start with the Guacamole and add Chicharron 🥑. If you love avocado and crispy pork belly, this is an unbeatable combination!

Next up is the Botana Surtida platter, offering a taste of all things Mexico. You can simply wrap your favorite ingredients in warm tortillas and enjoy.

For meat lovers, I highly recommend the Arrachera and Carne Asada.

Arrachera offers a truly authentic Mexican steak experience,

while Carne Asada allows you to savor a variety of different meats.

Given the excellent service, tipping is a must!
