From Reservations to Pricing
Words & Photos by Nolyum
If you're searching for the ultimate yakiniku experience in Fukuoka, Japan,
Nikuzen is the very first Tenjin hotspot I'd recommend.
Located just a 1-minute walk from Akasaka Station,
this premium Wagyu restaurant is where
you can feast on A4-grade or higher Kyushu Black Wagyu (Kuroge Wagyu)
all-you-can-eat for 6,770 JPY (around ~$39).
The value for money here is absolutely incredible, leaving me thoroughly satisfied.

While planning my trip to Fukuoka,
I spent hours looking up the best yakiniku spots.
To be honest, I didn't have massive expectations since it was "all-you-can-eat,"
but once I got there, everything from the exceptional meat quality to the variety of side dishes
and the clean, cozy atmosphere completely blew me away.
It easily became the most satisfying meal of my entire Fukuoka trip!

In this post, I'll share a complete guide to Nikuzen Fukuoka,
including how to book, the premium course lineup, and my honest review,
all based on my personal experience.

Nikuzen is located in Daimyo,
the trendy heartbeat of Fukuoka.
It's super close to the main Tenjin shopping streets,
making it the perfect dinner spot after a day of retail therapy.
I headed there right after checking out Don Quijote and Iwataya Department Store,
and I was surprised by how quick and easy it was to get there!

If you're taking the subway,
it's just a 1-minute walk from Exit 3 of Akasaka Station,
so you definitely won't get lost.
The restaurant is on the 2nd floor.
Just a heads-up: the entrance stairs are a bit narrow,
so if you're carrying heavy luggage or a stroller,
just take your time and watch your step!

Do you absolutely need a reservation?
Yes, it's pretty much essential.
Even though Nikuzen has plenty of seating,
it's an incredibly popular spot loved by both locals and tourists.
It's often fully booked, so walk-ins during dinner peak hours can be tough.

I booked my table about two weeks in advance
using Google Reservations,
which allowed me to easily pick my desired time slot
and made the whole process incredibly smooth.

You have to choose this course to experience Nikuzen's signature
Wagyu Carving Show,
and taste everything from thick-cut beef tongue to premium cuts!
What’s great is that they don’t just have amazing meat—the side menu is also super diverse,
so you can keep dining until the very end without getting tired of the flavors.
It was incredibly satisfying!

The all-you-can-eat time limit is 120 minutes,
with last orders taken at the 80-minute mark.
Time flies much faster than you’d think,
so I highly recommend ordering your must-try dishes right at the start!

How Do You Order?
You can easily order using the
QR code or tablet provided at each table.
While the tablet is mostly in Japanese,
scanning the QR code with your phone
lets you change the language, making ordering so much easier.

We also tried ordering with the tablet at first,
but once we switched to the QR code, finding menu items was a breeze.
We ended up ordering from our phones the entire time!

Is the all-you-can-drink option worth adding?
If you love your drinks, it's a must!
The additional cost is 1,650 yen (about $11),
and you'll easily get your money's worth
just by having about three Japanese draft beers or highballs.

Since we had someone in our group who doesn't drink alcohol,
we didn't opt for the unlimited package this time.
But when we did the math later, the total bill
wasn't much different from what it would have been with the option!
If you're visiting with fellow drink lovers,
it's a worry-free option that's definitely worth choosing.
3. How did it actually taste?
An Honest Review of Nikuzen's Recommended Menu Items

At first, I walked in thinking, "How good can an all-you-can-eat place actually be?"
But after my very first plate, my perspective completely flipped.
Exclusive to the Premium Course:
The Wagyu Carving Performance

If you order the Premium Course, before the meal begins,
the staff will carve a massive block of Wagyu right in front of you.
Watching them slice the meat tableside
really built up the excitement before we even took a bite.

Above all, the marbling was absolutely gorgeous.
It was hard to believe this was an all-you-can-eat place,
given how beautiful the color and quality of the meat were!
My Top Favorites: Beef Tongue and Premium Kalbi

The very first items we tried were
the Negi (green onion) beef tongue and the salted beef tongue.

The beef tongue wasn't tough at all;
it had the perfect thickness and a satisfying bite.
Topping it with plenty of green onions kept it light and clean
while bringing out the rich flavor.
Personally, this was my absolute favorite dish of the meal.

The Premium Kalbi (short rib), Premium Loin, and Brisket also exceeded our expectations!
As they sizzled on the grill, they became incredibly juicy,
and pairing them with the special house sauce cut through any greasiness,
keeping us reaching for more.
Don't Forget to Order the Side Dishes
At Nikuzen, it's not just the meat—
the side dishes are surprisingly top-notch too.
The standout for me was definitely the dolsot (stone pot) bibimbap!

When traveling in Japan,
you tend to eat a lot of rich, oily foods like tempura or ramen.
Having this sizzling bibimbap in the middle of our meal
completely satisfied my cravings for comforting, savory Korean flavors.

After some rice, I naturally craved a hot soup,
so I ordered the egg drop soup—and oh my goodness!
It was so silky smooth with a perfect hint of black pepper;
I absolutely loved it.
It did an amazing job of cleansing my palate!
Surprisingly Delicious Seafood

Even without high expectations, the assorted seafood platter
is something I highly recommend.
It comes with shrimp, squid, and scallops,
which were quite generously sized.
The texture was incredibly plump and fresh, with a lovely taste of the sea,
making it the perfect refreshing break in between all the meat!
Usually at all-you-can-eat places,
the seafood quality can be a bit disappointing,
but at Nikuzen, even the seafood selection was highly satisfying.
A clean finish with dessert

Once you finish your meal, you get one dessert per person!
Cleansing my palate with ice cream
made the whole course feel incredibly satisfying from start to finish.
