Niagara Falls Tour from Toronto 2026: Summer Cruise & Essentials
Ready for an unforgettable Niagara Falls adventure from Toronto? This guide covers everything you need for your summer cruise tour, from booking tips to what to expect at the falls.

If you're planning a trip to Canada, Niagara Falls is an absolute must-see, and many of you are probably looking into Niagara Falls tours.
While you could drive from Toronto to Niagara Falls yourself, for a truly relaxing experience, a guided tour is definitely the way to go.
Niagara Falls tours typically come in two flavors: private tours and join-in group tours. Group tours are usually a bit more budget-friendly.
Looking for a more intimate, small-group private Niagara Falls tour?

When booking a Niagara Falls tour, staying in downtown Toronto makes pickup much easier. On my trip, I was staying a bit further out from the city center, so I headed to the designated pickup spot at Dundas Street Station in downtown Toronto to wait for our tour bus.

Sometimes the tour bus is already waiting at the pickup location when you arrive at Dundas Street Station, but we got there a bit early and waited for our bus to pull up.

Once on the Niagara Falls tour bus, it's about a 1.5-hour drive (approximately 80-90 miles) to reach the vicinity of the falls, depending on traffic.
During the drive to Niagara Falls, our guide provided some interesting commentary and a brief overview of what to expect.

Midway to Niagara Falls, we made a stop at what felt like a rest area or a large gift shop for about an hour. We had some time to browse, and it seemed like there was a partnership, as a staff member at the 'Maple Leaf' shop handed out 15% discount coupons, one per person, which was a nice bonus!

A Canadian moose mascot stood guard at the entrance, and the store was filled with all sorts of merchandise.
Even the pen holders were unique, though their prices were equally unique! There were plenty of cute keychains and other souvenirs, making it fun to just look around.

I figured if I came all the way to Niagara Falls, Canada, I should get a magnet. But I decided to hold off, thinking I'd find a better selection closer to the falls themselves.
There were also quite a few simple yet stylish t-shirts, but since I'm not big on fashion, I skipped those.

What really caught my eye was the handmade chocolates, sold exclusively in this region. Many international tourists were picking up one or two as souvenirs.
Being handmade, they were a bit pricey, but if you're a chocolate lover, they might be worth it. (I'm not a huge chocolate person myself, so I passed...)

An hour flew by browsing and even sampling a few items at this store.
The last thing I saw was an impressive display of maple syrups, beautifully arranged. There was an incredible variety!

After our hour-long stop at the store, we finally arrived at Niagara Falls! As the falls came into view from the bus, a collective gasp of awe went through the international tourists.

My heart was already racing with excitement, and the weather was absolutely perfect. The sky was a brilliant blue, and the cascading water of Niagara Falls looked incredibly clear and beautiful.

Our guide, umbrella in hand, led the way. We were told to follow closely, but I briefly wondered if anyone might get left behind!

Our first stop was the 'Journey Behind the Falls' experience. Here, we collected our tickets and found the pathway leading down behind the mighty Niagara Falls.

Tickets for the Journey Behind the Falls were included in our tour package, so our guide handed them out before we descended.

As we headed down, staff members handed out ponchos, which you'll definitely want to put on before getting too close to the falls.

Many tourists were already sporting their ponchos and snapping photos, and it quickly became clear why those ponchos were absolutely essential!

The sheer force of the water cascading down Niagara Falls, combined with the wind, meant that without a poncho, your clothes would be soaked through in less than a minute.
Looking up at the Niagara Falls cruise boats from below was incredible, and it made me even more excited to get on one ourselves!

Getting so close to Niagara Falls, you certainly won't feel hot! In fact, it's a wonderfully refreshing experience.
Beneath Niagara Falls, there are tunnel-like passages, which felt quite unique. Seeing the water up close like that was surprisingly refreshing.

If you asked me why I came to Canada, seeing Niagara Falls in person was definitely one of the main reasons.
Having only seen Niagara Falls on TV and streaming services, witnessing it live was absolutely breathtaking.
On the way out, there was another shop selling Niagara Falls merchandise, but I didn't feel the need to buy anything there either.

Even with the poncho, the wind meant I got a little damp, but the weather was so pleasant afterwards that it was perfect for just gazing at the falls and soaking in the view.

If you visit Niagara Falls, Canada, on a sunny day, you're in for a treat – you'll likely see stunning rainbows continuously appearing!
When the sun hits the mist from the cascading water just right, it creates these magical rainbows.
Seeing those rainbows made my day, and it was truly a happy and memorable Niagara Falls tour.

Whether you're traveling solo or as a family of four on your Canada trip, a join-in group tour is an excellent option.
Even better than a join-in tour, if your budget allows, is a small-group private tour for a more personalized experience.
Truly private Niagara Falls tours aren't as common, but the one linked below is a fantastic option.
No matter which tour you choose for your Canadian adventure, you can often find competitive prices. So, if you're planning a trip to Toronto, make sure to include a Niagara Falls tour!
