compared to other international destinations,

it boasts incredibly reasonable rates.

Today, I'll share a detailed review of

the New World Taipei room rates, room conditions,

and booking tips!

1. Taipei Hotel Location

Personally, if you're traveling with friends

on a food-focused adventure in Taiwan,

I highly recommend finding a place in Ximending—

often dubbed the "Myeongdong of Taipei"

for its lively street culture, endless street food, and shopping.

First off, it's super close to Ximen MRT Station,

which is the ultimate hub for budget travelers

and the main meeting point for day tour buses.

The walk to Ximen Station

takes only about 5 minutes.

Plus, iconic spots like the Red House, the Rainbow Crosswalk,

and must-visit foodie stops

like Xing Fu Tang and Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodle are close by,

making it the perfect home base for your first day!

Also, right in the basement of the neighboring building,

while smaller than the massive Guilin branch,

there is a 24-hour Carrefour Market

where you can easily grab local snacks, tea, and souvenirs

(Carrefour Market Taipei Changsha Store),

making midnight snack runs incredibly convenient!

We absolutely loved the location,

so we spent a total of 3 nights at the New World Hotel.

For the last leg of our journey, we moved to the

more tranquil Caesar Metro Taipei to relax

and wrap up our trip in style.

2. Booking a Hotel in Taiwan

There's really no better area than Ximending for enjoying Taipei,

but since it's the heart of the city,

hotel prices can get pretty expensive.

That's why I looked closely for best-value hotels

when choosing a base in Ximending.

Even for a Standard Double or Standard Twin room

that can accommodate 3 people (2 adults and 1 child),

you can book it on weekdays including breakfast in the ~$45 to ~$51 range.

Even a group of 4 (3 adults and 1 child)

can stay for around ~$70 per night on weekdays (breakfast included).

With prices like these, you can see why

it's called an ultimate value hotel!

We booked a Standard Twin room

that fits 2 adults and 1 child,

and without breakfast,

it was only in the ~$32 range per night!

When I visited, they seemed to be undergoing renovations,

so the breakfast restaurant wasn't running.

But I heard they recently reopened

their dining area with a fresh, clean look!

While it might not be a super fancy breakfast buffet,

they offer about 10 different dishes and desserts.

The overall spread is clean, and the reviews

say the food tastes pretty great!

3. Taipei Hotel Room Tour & Condition

As a highly-rated, budget-friendly Taipei hotel,

popular rooms get booked up super fast.

We booked early and managed to secure

a Standard Twin Room

with a city view.

Since I was traveling with a friend,

we booked two separate rooms.

We requested adjacent rooms in the booking options,

and they kindly assigned us rooms right next to each other.

Even though it has been partially remodeled, it is still a classic

Taipei hotel with some history. So when you check in,

you receive an actual physical key instead of a keycard.

But don't worry—the front desk can hold onto your key

whenever you go out, so it wasn't inconvenient at all.

They also offer luggage storage

before check-in and after check-out.

During check-in, a staff member who spoke excellent English

handed us a handy information guide sheet

and walked us through everything.

In particular, the controls for the AC and heater

were quite unique, so you definitely want to pay attention to those instructions.

The room size is 17m²,

which left plenty of space to lay out our suitcases.

The view was just the building directly opposite,

so we mostly kept the curtains closed.

Still, at this price point, just having

a window at all made the room feel open and comfortable,

which I really appreciated.

As a long-standing property located right in Ximending,

this Taipei accommodation does show some signs of age,

and the building itself feels a bit dated.

However,

since it has been cleanly remodeled overall,

we didn't experience any major discomforts.

The bed quality couldn't quite compare to a 5-star hotel,

but for this price, it was perfectly decent.

There was also a small TV right across from the bed,

which was great to keep on in the background for some comforting ambient noise.

The mini-fridge worked perfectly, so we could buy drinks

and keep them nice and cold.

An electric kettle, 2 bottles of water, mugs, coffee, and

tea were all provided.

There was also a small vanity table with a mirror,

which was super convenient for getting ready or doing a bit of laptop work.

For a 3-star Taiwan hotel,

the bathroom was reasonably clean.

Since it's an older building, I brought along

a travel shower filter, but even after a 3-night stay,

the filter barely changed color at all!

There was a bathtub as well, though I didn't

end up using it. Also, due to recent environmental

initiatives in Taiwan, most accommodations no longer

provide single-use amenities.

So make sure to pack your own toothbrush and toothpaste.

They did have shared dispensers with a 2-in-1 shampoo/body wash and hand wash,

but I personally preferred using my own travel toiletries.

They provided plenty of fresh towels,

and the housekeeping kept everything spotless every single day.

4. Wrapping Up

While it might not have that ultra-luxurious vibe,

it's a fantastic budget-friendly hotel located right in Ximending—

the absolute heart of Taipei. It's an incredibly practical choice

for travelers who value convenience and great value

over fancy frills.

Personally, if you are looking for practicality

and a budget-friendly spot just to sleep,

it's perfect for groups of young friends,

or families traveling with kids

who need an affordable "0.5-night" transit stay.

I highly recommend it as a great base for your trip!
