Where to Stay in Taipei, Taiwan
Neijiang Hotel Ximending: Price & Honest Review
By Global Explorer
Whenever I'm planning a trip to Taipei,
picking the right neighborhood and staying on budget is always the biggest hurdle.
Because real estate in Taipei is quite expensive,
many budget-friendly rooms are notoriously tiny and—worst of all—windowless,
making them feel more like a closet than a relaxing retreat.
Today, I want to share my top location recommendation for travelers,
along with a full review of the Neijiang Hotel,
a highly affordable, centrally located spot that actually has large windows!
First, let's talk about where you should stay in Taipei.
For first-time and returning travelers alike, Ximending is the ultimate basecamp.
It offers unbeatable convenience for sightseeing, shopping, and late-night eats.
Let me break it down using the map below.

📍 Ximending (highlighted in yellow) is essentially the Times Square or Shibuya of Taipei.
It's a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly hub where global tourists flock,
packed with incredible street food, trendy boutiques, and endless entertainment.

Countless restaurants stay open well past midnight here.
With 24-hour beef noodle soup spots and braised pork rice joints right around the corner,
Ximending is an absolute paradise for foodies.
Beyond the food, the logistical convenience is off the charts.
📍 Ximen Station is serviced by two major MRT lines,
and it's just one stop away from Taipei Main Station (for High-Speed Rail) and the Airport MRT.
This makes getting to and from the airport or taking day trips incredibly easy.
Plus, almost all popular day-tour buses (like Jiufen and Shifen tours)
use Ximen Station as their primary pickup point.
Considering all these factors,
booking a hotel in Ximending
▶️ is undoubtedly the smartest choice for travelers.
However, when you start searching for rooms in Ximending,
you'll quickly notice the prices can be steep, and many cheaper rooms lack windows.
After sifting through dozens of options to avoid those exact issues,
I found Neijiang Hotel. Here is everything you need to know about the pricing and experience.

Neijiang Hotel |
Check-in: 3:00 PM~ Check-out: ~12:00 PM Location: 4-minute walk from Ximen Station Price: Under ~$77 on weekdays |
📍 Neijiang Hotel is located just a
brisk 4-minute walk from Ximen Station,
making it exceptionally easy to navigate the city.
✅ Despite the prime location, weekday rates are often under ~$77,
and weekend rates usually hover around ~$90 to ~$115.
It offers fantastic value for your money.
(Because of this, weekends tend to book out fast!)
✅ They offer Double rooms for couples, Triples,
and Quad rooms for families or larger groups.
Most rooms are around 215 sq ft (20m²).
For a budget hotel in central Taipei, 215 sq ft is surprisingly generous,
giving you plenty of breathing room.

Because we were hunting for a budget-friendly spot with a stellar location,
booking Neijiang Hotel was a no-brainer for us.

Let's dive into my personal experience staying
in their Standard Room.

The lobby isn't massive, but it's very clean and welcoming.
The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and spoke great English!
They also offer luggage storage before check-in and after check-out,
which is a lifesaver if you have a late flight.

We were assigned Room 603.
It's a boutique-style building, so there aren't too many rooms per floor, keeping noise to a minimum.

As soon as we walked in,
I was genuinely surprised by how spacious it was.
In previous budget stays around Ximending,
I could barely find floor space to open my suitcase.
At Neijiang Hotel, we could easily open two large suitcases
simultaneously and still have plenty of room to walk around.

The bed was wonderfully plush,
ensuring a fantastic night's sleep after a long day of exploring.

Opposite the bed, you'll find a desk area, a mini-fridge,
and the standard room amenities.

They provide two complimentary bottles of water, some tea bags,
an electric kettle, slippers, and hangers.
I really appreciated how they kept unnecessary furniture to a minimum
to maximize the usable floor space.
It made the room feel even larger than it was.

The bathroom features a standing shower rather than a tub,
keeping with the clean, minimalist vibe of the room.
Compared to other budget hotels, the bathroom was quite roomy,
so we never felt cramped while getting ready.
Just a heads up: they only provide body wash and shampoo in dispensers,
so be sure to pack your own conditioner if you need it.

Also, aside from a hairdryer and fresh towels,
❗️ no disposable toiletries are provided.
As of 2026, Taiwan has strict eco-policies in place,
and hotels no longer supply single-use items like toothbrushes or razors.
Make sure to bring your own personal toiletries so you aren't caught off guard!

Aside from the generous space, Neijiang Hotel has one
major selling point that sets it apart from the competition.
The room features a massive window.
The city view was surprisingly decent,
and because it's a sliding window,
you can actually open it wide to let in fresh air.
So many hotels in Ximending are completely windowless
or have tiny peephole windows that don't open.
Having this much natural light was an absolute game-changer!

If you're planning a trip to Taipei soon,
I highly recommend checking out Neijiang Hotel in Ximending.
Being right next to the main commercial district means
you have incredible transit access,
plus endless food and entertainment options at your doorstep.
The rooms are a comfortable 215 sq ft,
leaving plenty of room for luggage and lounging.
Most importantly, the large, openable windows
completely eliminate that claustrophobic feeling typical of budget stays.
Because Taiwan is quite humid, you might notice a tiny bit of condensation
around the window frame, but the rest of the room
was impeccably clean, and I was completely satisfied with our stay.
If you want to stay in the heart of Ximending
without breaking the bank—and demand a room with a window—
▶️ Neijiang Hotel is the perfect fit.

Ximending is a popular spot for international tourists, similar to Myeongdong in Seoul, with a high concentration of restaurants and shopping facilities. Furthermore, Ximen Station is served by two subway lines and is close to the Airport MRT, Taipei Main Station, and the bus terminal, offering excellent transportation convenience. Most meeting points for Taipei's suburban tours are also at Ximen Station.
Check-in at Neijiang Hotel is from 15:00, and check-out is by 12:00. Room rates are available for less than ~$66 on weekdays and slightly over ~$66 on weekends. Rooms tend to sell out quickly on weekends.
Neijiang Hotel only provides body wash and shampoo among its shower amenities, so if you use conditioner, you should bring your own. Additionally, in accordance with Taiwanese hotel policies, separate disposable amenities (such as personal toiletries) are not provided, so it is advisable to prepare them in advance.
Neijiang Hotel rooms are 20m² (approximately 6 pyeong), providing ample space even when two suitcases are open, so guests will find them spacious. Notably, unlike other accommodations in Ximending, the rooms feature large windows, which allow for convenient ventilation and a feeling of openness.
