Our Visit to Water Garden for Cosmos on October 9th
When autumn rolls around, cosmos flowers are a must-see, right? We were searching for the best spot near Seoul to truly experience them, and Namyangju Water Garden popped up as the perfect destination.
We visited on October 9th, and the flowers were in magnificent full bloom! It feels like the perfect time to go, so let me share all the details.

Parking – Prepare for Crowds at Public Parking Lot 1
Namyangju Water Garden offers two main parking options: Public Parking Lot 1 and Public Parking Lot 3. While Lot 1 is closer to the flower fields, it gets incredibly crowded. You might find yourself circling for a spot, so on busy weekends, heading straight to Public Parking Lot 3 is often the smarter move.
During peak flower season weekends, traffic and parking can be a real headache. Many locals recommend visiting early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the rush. If you're coming without a car, it's an easy 10-minute walk from Ungilsan Station (Gyeongui-Jungang Line) Exit 1. Just a heads-up!
The Cosmos – A Sea of Yellow and Pink
As soon as you step in, your eyes will be met by a breathtaking sea of yellow cosmos. With every breeze, the flowers gently sway, creating a truly mesmerizing golden ocean.
On one side, you'll also find fields of delicate pink cosmos, offering a stunning dual display of yellow and pink. The blend of these two vibrant colors makes for absolutely gorgeous photos, no matter where you point your camera!
As of October 9th, the flowers are quite abundant, so you should be able to enjoy them fully through this weekend.

Strolling – Smooth Paths for Easy Walking
The walking paths here are incredibly well-maintained, making it super easy and pleasant to stroll around and admire the flowers. Since the paths are flat with no steep inclines or stairs, we saw many families with strollers enjoying their time. As you leisurely walk, the beautiful Bukhangang River flows alongside, and feeling that gentle river breeze while surrounded by flowers is truly a magical experience.

Bicycles – Explore the Garden on Two Wheels
There's even a bicycle rental shop right inside Water Garden. The park is quite expansive, so if walking the entire distance feels like too much, renting a bike is a fantastic option. Seeing couples cycling through the flower paths made me want to rent one next time too!

Take a Break – Benches and Shade Everywhere
Throughout the park, you'll find plenty of benches and shade structures, perfect for taking a breather. Even in autumn, the midday sun can be quite strong, so resting under a shade while gazing at the river was incredibly refreshing. You might even want to bring a picnic blanket and some snacks to enjoy a lovely outdoor meal!

Extend Your Trip: Namyangju & Yangpyeong Area
Near Water Garden, you'll find other charming spots like Dumulmeori and numerous riverside cafes. We highly recommend extending your visit to an overnight stay to explore the area at a more relaxed pace.
