My mom highly recommended I visit, so

my mom, dad, husband, and our 25-month-old

son went together.

This Namyangju outing started with a bakery meal

and continued with a lakeside stroll.

Since it's directly connected to Onam Lake Park,

both adults and children could move around easily.

To get straight to the point,

Hutan in Namyangju was beautiful enough even before the autumn leaves were at their peak,

and if you're with kids, it's a place where you can enjoy both a meal and a walk all at once.

2. What are the Autumn Views Like Right Now?

Let me be honest about the autumn leaves situation.

On the day I visited, they weren't yet a vibrant red or

bright yellow.

They were a softer shade, just before reaching their full splendor, and

so this week or next week will likely be even more beautiful.

If you're planning your Namyangju outing specifically for the autumn foliage,

aim for this weekend or next week when the colors deepen.

The trees around Onam Lake Park will also

become much more vibrant around that time.

Even if you go now, the combination of water and trees visible through the large windows

was already quite lovely.

The speed at which each tree changes color varies

depending on the weather and temperature, so

it's accurate to check recent photos uploaded to a map app

just before your visit.

3. Menu and Indoor Atmosphere

It's a massive bakery spanning 5,000 pyeong,

with the entire 1st to 3rd floors featuring large windows

that look out onto the reservoir. The space is quite spacious.

The menu at Hutaan (후탄) in Namyangju (남양주) is divided into coffee and drinks,

bakery items, and meal options like pizza.

(The 1st floor is for meals, while other floors

can be used as a cafe.)

We ordered an Americano (아아), an iced cafe mocha,

and a pizza & draft beer set.

They also had Sangha Farm (상하목장) milk,

so our 25-month-old son got milk for his drink!

Ordering a mix of one or two dishes to share makes it easy

to satisfy both parents' and children's tastes.

You can check the signs at the entrance to see if it's a 'find a seat first, then order' system.

4. Lakeside Stroll: Walking with Kids

After our meal,

we headed out to the deck boardwalk on the Olam Lake Park (오남호수공원) side.

It's a path directly connected from the building,

so there was no need to move the car again.

If you're visiting Namyangju with children,

this is a significant advantage.

Walking together with my parents, husband, and son meant we had more time to chat,

and we got to see scenery we wouldn't have if we'd stayed only inside the building.

Walking after your meal makes your stomach feel more comfortable,

and you can return before sunset, so I recommend this order of activities.

Instead of walking the entire reservoir perimeter,

aim to walk as much as you like and then return, which keeps it easy. If you're with parents,

I recommend checking for places to sit and rest periodically as you walk.

Good things to bring are outerwear and snacks.

It can feel chilly by the water, and a 25-month-old gets hungry quickly while walking.

If you schedule your trip to avoid your son's nap time,

you can relax comfortably during travel.

It's also reassuring to have a change of clothes and wet wipes in case of spills from drinks or snacks :)

Namyangju Hutan (남양주 후탄) is perfect for days out with parents and children,

as you can enjoy dining, beautiful scenery, and walking

all in one place, allowing you to seamlessly continue your activities.

Just keep in mind the potential weekend wait times and the slight chill by the water (?),

and you'll be all set! ㅎ_ㅎ
