Left: Nagoya Mu-Sky / Right: Limited Express Train
Taking a local train will get you from Chubu Centrair Airport to Nagoya Station
in about 50 minutes. (Based on the local Airport Line train)
However, I wanted to get to Nagoya Station as quickly as possible
to squeeze in some shopping, grab some ramen, and start my adventure!
If you're like me and want to get there as fast as possible,
you'll definitely want to take the Nagoya Mu-Sky train.
The Nagoya Mu-Sky is about 20 minutes faster than the local train
and 10 minutes faster than the limited express train,
getting you from Chubu Centrair Airport to Nagoya Station in just 28 minutes!
Should I Buy Nagoya Mu-Sky Tickets in Advance?

Klook Nagoya Mu-Sky Voucher
I pre-purchased my train ticket from Nagoya Airport to Nagoya Station in advance on Klook
before heading out on my trip.
Even though Klook advertises it as a "Nagoya Mu-Sky Ticket,"
it actually only gives you access to the Local Train
and the non-reserved cars of the Limited Express Train.
Essentially, it's a non-reserved seat ticket,
just like riding a standard subway or local train.

So, How Do I Actually Ride the Nagoya Mu-Sky?

To ride the Mu-Sky or reserved seats on the Limited Express,
you need to purchase a separate seat reservation ticket.
At first, I thought, "Wow, buying this in advance is super cheap at just ~$3!"
But I soon realized it didn't include the actual Mu-Sky seat reservation fee...
Here are the 3 ways you can purchase
this Mu-Sky seat ticket!
1. Pre-purchase on the official website
2. Purchase using the ticket kiosks at the station
3. Purchase directly from the conductor on the train

1. Pre-purchase on the official website
On the Meitetsu website, you can reserve your desired time
and seat for the Nagoya Mu-Sky in advance.
You can pay the 450 yen (~$3) Mu-Sky ticket fee and
secure your booking before you even land in Nagoya.
This is the perfect option for those who love
planning their trip to a T!

2. Buying from a Ticket Kiosk at the Station
You can easily buy your Nagoya Mu-Sky ticket
by using the kiosks located right inside the station.
If you've already purchased a Nagoya train ticket voucher
in advance on platforms like Klook or KKday,
you only need to buy the µ-Ticket (First Class Ticket) shown at the top.
If you haven't bought anything in advance, you can buy the Basic Ticket and the µ-Ticket
together!

If you purchased a Nagoya Mu-Sky voucher,
you can head straight to board the train
by simply scanning the QR code on your voucher.
There is a QR code scanner right where the station staff are,
so just show them your voucher, scan it, and walk right in.

Since you're riding the Nagoya Mu-Sky,
you'll want to head over to the blue Platform 1.
For the Nagoya Mu-Sky, use Platform 1.
For the Limited Express train from Central Japan International Airport to Nagoya Station,
head to the red Platform 3, and for the local Ordinary train, head to the green Platform 2
to board!

Left: Limited Express / Right: Ordinary Seats
Just so you know, not all cars on the Limited Express train are reserved.
The front 2 cars are reserved seats (First Class), while the rear 4 cars are ordinary non-reserved seats.
The travel time for ordinary seats is the same as the Limited Express,
but it feels more like riding a standard subway train.
Since you'll be boarding at the starting station (Nagoya Airport) to head to Nagoya Station,
taking the ordinary seats is actually a perfectly fine and comfortable option too!

Check the train number and seat number
printed on your purchased µ-Ticket,
check the overhead departure boards on the platform, and hop on!

Once you arrive at Nagoya Station,
you'll need to scan your voucher's QR code once more
to exit the gates!
When arriving at Meitetsu Nagoya Station from Central Japan International Airport,
the QR code scanners can be a bit hidden.
But if you head towards where the station staff are,
you'll easily spot a scanner like the one pictured above!

3. Buying from the Conductor On Board the Train
Just like before, if you've purchased your basic QR ticket in advance,
you can just head to Platform 1, board the Nagoya Mu-Sky,
and grab an empty seat. The conductor will come around
to check your µ-Ticket, and if you don't have one, they will sell you one right there!

Paying for a µ-Ticket on board the Nagoya Mu-Sky
Buying your ticket on board the Nagoya Mu-Sky
costs 500 yen—which is just 50 yen more—but it's still a very reasonable price.
If you're pressed for time
and running to catch the Nagoya Mu-Sky, you can enter using your pre-purchased voucher first,
and then pay for the ticket right inside the train.
Highly recommended!
