Did you book a red-eye flight to save money on your Taipei trip?
If so, your biggest concern is probably,
'Will I even be able to check in?'
Surprisingly, many hotels don't allow late-night check-ins.
And even if they do, paying a premium room rate just to
sleep for a few hours feels like a waste of money.
If you're stressing over this, let me introduce you to
Mr Lobster's Secret Den, a budget-friendly hotel
that allows 24-hour check-in for a quick half-night stay!

Check-in: 15:00~ Check-out: ~11:00 Room Rate: ~$85 for 2 people Special Note: 24-hour check-in available |
Mr Lobster's Secret Den offers
24-hour check-in,
and at around ~$85 for two people,
it provides incredible value for money.
While it operates partly as a hostel, they also offer
private double rooms with en-suite bathrooms, making it perfect for couples.
Just a heads-up: although 24-hour check-in is available,
✅ if you plan to arrive late at night, you MUST message them
your estimated arrival time through the booking site beforehand.
(A staff member will wait on-site to assist you with check-in.)

📍 The hotel is located about a
10-minute walk from Taipei Bus Station.
Taipei is incredibly safe even in the early hours of the morning,
so you won't feel uneasy walking there with your luggage.

Keep in mind that the hotel is situated in a commercial building,
sharing the main entrance with other businesses.
The front doors are locked late at night.
Therefore, if you're checking in after hours,
you'll need to walk down the alley by the 7-Eleven
and use the side entrance.

Once inside, just hop in the elevator
and head up to the 9th floor!

Now, let me share my personal experience staying here.

The lobby and hallways stretch out in a U-shape,
and they offer luggage storage as well as umbrella rentals.

There's also a fridge and a small snack station in the lobby
selling cup noodles and drinks.
However, since there's a 7-Eleven right downstairs,
you probably won't need to use this much.

Because it operates partly as a hostel,
it features a communal kitchen and living room.
The wooden interior gives it a really cozy, warm vibe.
We checked in past 2:00 AM,
and there were still guests hanging out in this area.

With appliances like a toaster, microwave, induction stove, and plates,
the shared space is super convenient,
especially if you're a solo traveler wanting to prep a quick meal.

There's also a shared refrigerator and a coin laundry machine,
making it a practical choice for
long-term guests as well.
Personally, I loved that they had a water dispenser, so we didn't
have to constantly buy bottled water.
While hostel guests use communal bathrooms,
we booked the Comfort Double Room, which comes with a private en-suite.

We were assigned Room 15 at the very end of the hallway.
It felt incredibly private and was peacefully quiet.

The interior was much larger than I expected!
Even with a full double bed, there was enough floor space
around the bed to easily open 3 or 4 large suitcases.
One of the biggest issues with cheap hotels in Taipei is
that the rooms often have mold due to the humidity.
While this room didn't have cutting-edge modern decor,
it was completely mold-free and very clean.

Right outside the bathroom, there was a small table
and two chairs.
Having this setup in the double room meant we could
enjoy late-night snacks in total privacy.

One minor downside: they only provide one
large bath towel per person, per night.
Also, disposable toiletries are not provided,
so you must bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste.
(This is actually standard practice for almost all hotels in Taiwan now.)

On the wall, there was a simple coat rack
and reusable indoor slippers.

The bathroom felt a bit more
dated compared to the bedroom.
However, despite showing its age, it was generally very clean,
and it was spacious enough to be comfortable.

The only bathroom amenities provided were liquid hand soap
and an all-in-one body & hair gel dispenser.
If you're particular about your hair products,
or if you need conditioner, definitely pack your own!
Mr Lobster's Secret Den
was booked strictly for a quick "half-night" sleep,
and for that purpose, it was absolutely perfect.
It's only a 10-minute walk from the 1819 Kuo-Kuang bus drop-off,
and with weekend rates hovering under $85,
it's incredibly light on the wallet.
Plus, the surrounding area is packed with fantastic local eateries,
making it a great starting point for a breakfast food tour the next morning.
👉🏻 If you're looking for a budget-friendly hotel for a quick sleep after a red-eye flight,
or if you need an affordable spot for a long-term solo stay,
I highly recommend checking this place out.
