Montan Hakata Fukuoka Review 2026: Affordable Stay Near Hakata Station

Lately, as flight prices to Japan keep climbing,

accommodation and hotel prices have naturally risen too.

And while I looked for cheaper options, I really didn't want a cramped room where I couldn't even open a single suitcase, especially paying over ~$73 a night.

After searching for days, I finally found Montan Hakata – an amazing value stay with **spacious rooms** starting from the **low ~$58s**!

Its **location is incredibly close to Hakata Station on foot**, which makes it my top recommendation for accommodation near Hakata Station.

Location

Usually, when choosing accommodation in Fukuoka, people look for places close to two subway stations:

Hakata Station and Tenjin Station.

**Hakata Station is close to the airport and houses both a train station and a bus terminal**, making it perfect for day trips to nearby areas like Yufuin and Beppu.

**Tenjin, on the other hand, is where various shopping malls gather**, so it's the recommended location for those who love a good shopping spree.

**Montan Hakata is an accommodation near Hakata Station**, just **3 minutes by car or 8 minutes on foot**.

Naturally, it's also **close to Fukuoka Airport**, making it an excellent choice for your first or last night's stay.

While there are other room types, I've compared the most affordable and representative ones here.

Typical business hotels in Japan are around 13m², but at Montan Hakata, even the **smallest Double and Twin rooms are 17m²**, which means you'll have space to open two suitcases and still have room to spare!

Since my husband and I were **staying as a couple, we opted for the Double Room**.

For a Double Room, prices generally range from **~$58 to low ~$73**, regardless of whether it's a weekday or weekend.

Sometimes Agoda offers better deals, other times it's Trip.com, depending on the dates.

Lobby

The first-floor lounge is incredibly spacious with a wide array of tables, from floor seating to bar tables.

It's perfect for meals with multiple people, and

It's also great for working on your laptop!

The microwave, toaster, dishes, and other utensils available

can be freely used from 7 AM to 12 AM,

making simple cooking possible.

Water and coffee are also provided free of charge.

Transportation in Japan can be pricey, so many people use bicycles – more than you might expect! Perhaps that's why the accommodation

also offers bicycle rentals.

You can also enjoy manga comics and simple board games,

and if you ask at the front desk, you can even take them to your room!

Beyond basic amenities like combs and razors,

they also offer ice, band-aids, diapers, hair straighteners, blankets, ice, wine openers,

nail clippers, chargers, power adapters, cribs, humidifiers, irons, and more for rent.

Almost everything you could need is available for rent.

On the second floor, a self-service laundry room operates 24 hours a day,

so if you need it, you can use it for a fee.

There's even a small garden where you can get into the Christmas spirit!

It's clear they put a lot of thought into the lounge.

Double Room

Here are photos of the double room where I stayed.

After passing through a hallway with a sink and bathroom, you'll enter the room to find

a double bed, a sofa, a table, and a TV.

It's spacious enough to even spread out two suitcases!

Even though it's small, there's a balcony, so it never feels cramped at all.

On the bed, you'll find comfortable pajamas

and a disposable toothbrush and toothpaste.

Personally, I loved that they provided soft pajamas instead of those scratchy hotel robes!

The bathroom wasn't overly spacious, nor was it incredibly cramped –

it was exactly what you'd expect from a standard Japanese bathroom.

Hand wash, shampoo, conditioner, cups, and towels are all provided.

If you need any other amenities, just ask at the front desk!

At the sink area, you'll find a mini-fridge, a laundry bag, cups,

a coffee maker, bottled water, and drip bags.

And here's a bonus: the tap water is safe to drink!

The drip bags were from the Rek Coffee brand, and my husband said they were surprisingly good!

He mentioned they tasted really great for complimentary coffee provided by the accommodation. :)

Fukuoka is famous for delicious dishes like Yakiniku and Okonomiyaki, but these can leave lingering smells.

So, a little tip: spray some air freshener and hang your clothes in the hallway to air out!

From its prime location and excellent price to the fantastic room condition and friendly staff,

Montan Hakata in Fukuoka truly had it all!
