I'm fresh back from an incredible, deep-dive trip to Mongolia,
and I'm sharing this post while the memories are still super fresh!
If you're planning a trip to Mongolia
or just dreaming of going, finding this post
means you've lucked out and are on track to travel
with the absolute best tour agency!
1. Preparing for Your Mongolia Trip
The Most Important Step: Choosing the Right Tour Agency
🐫 Traveling to Mongolia has been on my bucket list for the longest time.
Since I got to go with such amazing people, I'm thrilled
to share my travel stories and insider tips with you!
Mongolia is a dream destination for many, but actually making it happen
can feel a bit daunting with so many challenges.
That's why choosing the right tour agency
is the absolute most important step in your prep!

2. How to Book with Nora Tour

You can choose the regions you want to visit
according to your schedule and book your tour.
Here's an insider tip: if you're a busy office worker like me,
arriving in Mongolia early in the morning
allows you to start your tour right away,
making your itinerary so much more efficient!
I highly recommend booking an early flight.
If you land late in the afternoon, the tour might only start
the next day. Since we're making the trip, let's arrive
early and jump straight into the adventure!
🐫 On the website above, you can choose between the Gobi Desert, Khuvsgul, or Central Mongolia,
customized to fit your preferred schedule!

✔️High Tour Quality ↑ Lower Tour Costs ↓
High-quality tours at budget-friendly prices—that's Nora Tour.
Since Nora Tour operates directly without an intermediary Korean travel agency,
there are no middleman markups.
That's why they can deliver higher quality than other companies
while keeping the overall tour costs down.
Plus, they hold official certifications from the Mongolian Tourism Association.
They run a training school for guides and drivers every single year.
The guides and drivers who officially graduate from this program
are the veteran pros we get to travel with today!
✔️Veteran Guides🤹🏻♀️
Our guide was Minji, a wonderful woman whose Korean
was so flawless I honestly thought she was from Korea!
She always greeted us with a big smile, treated us like an older sister,
and answered every single question we had about Mongolia!
She even carved up and deboned all the meat for us so we could eat easily. T_T
Since I don't have an older sister of my own, her warmth really touched me.
I honestly felt like I'd never meet a guide this amazing again.

✔️Safe Vehicles🚐
When you think of Mongolia, long hours on the road instantly come to mind.
With rollover accidents on the rise annually, travelers are increasingly
choosing the HiAce over the classic Furgon van.
You can choose between the Furgon and HiAce at no extra cost.
We chose the HiAce for a smoother ride and to minimize safety risks
while moving. But of course, we were still curious about the Furgon! ~ 🛻
At Nora Tour, if you just want to take photos with a Furgon,
you can get those aesthetic proof shots for only ~$6 per team!!
They even let us ride in a Furgon for a short spin,
and wow, the Furgon vibes were absolutely insane. But the HiAce is definitely way more comfortable ^-^

✔️Meals🍱
Mongolian food uses a lot of mutton, and I heard that if you're sensitive
to the smell, you might not be able to eat a single meal.
I was incredibly worried about this!
So I packed some spicy canned tuna and red pepper paste (gochujang),
but it was actually surprisingly delicious! Turns out, I love Mongolian food?
Plus, my tour group mates packed so many tasty snacks
that we had absolutely nothing to worry about!
No food worries at all!

I heard that on other tours, the guides have to cook all the meals themselves, but...
With the summer heat cranking up, there's always a risk of food spoiling,
and if our guide had to worry about cooking and food prep on top of everything,
they might not have been able to fully focus on guiding us, right?
That's why Nora Tour takes you straight to local restaurants!
And only the highly-rated, absolutely delicious spots at that.
Thanks to this, I didn't have a single worry about the food!

✔️ Free Rental Items 🧳
One of the best perks of booking with Nora Tour for a Mongolia trip
is that they provide and lend you
all the absolute essentials!

ㆍPower bank
ㆍPoncho (1 per person, rental)
ㆍSIM card
ㆍSleeping bag
ㆍ2 bottles of mineral water daily
ㆍTowels provided at most accommodations
ㆍFree airport pickup & drop-off

Also, do you usually travel with a neck pillow?
Make sure to pack one! When you're spending long hours in the car,
and need to catch some sleep, a neck pillow is an absolute must!!

Airport meetup → Supermarket visit → Tsenkher Hot Springs

🍫 After our airport meetup, we bought some snacks and food for the first evening
and headed to our accommodation.
The drive to our stay was only long on the very first day;
the rest of the days were totally manageable and comfortable!

Hot springs in Mongolia?! 🫧
We arrived late in the evening and debated whether to soak in the hot springs right away,
but worried it might make us too tired for the next day,
we just had dinner and went to bed early~
When I opened my eyes in the morning, it finally hit me that I was actually in Mongolia.
The spring water was so warm and the view was absolutely breathtaking,
so I'll save the details for a dedicated post!

Karakorum & Mini Gobi (Elsen Tasarkhai)
Erdene Zuu Monastery → Mini Gobi
→ Camel Riding & Sand Sledding

After checking out of our very first ger,
we headed out to truly experience Mongolia!
Erdene Zuu Monastery → Mini Gobi → Camel Riding & Sand Sledding
This was the flow of our day!
Even during our brief visit to the monastery, we snapped some amazing photos at the best spots
and listened to fascinating, brief explanations from our guide.

🐫🐫🐫
Mongolia has always been at the very top of my bucket list.
I had only ever seen camels in places like zoos before,
so getting to see them this close, pet them,
and even go on a camel ride was absolutely surreal!
Doesn't this make you want to pack your bags for Mongolia right now?!
Don't underestimate it just because they call it a "mini" desert;
it is still very much a real desert. I’ve always been so curious about deserts,
and feeling the sheer scale of Mother Nature here was incredibly thrilling.
Nomadic Show → Terelj National Park
→ Turtle Rock → Aryapala Temple
→ Horseback Riding → Eagle Experience
🐫🐫🐫
Maybe because it was the final day of our Mongolia trip?
But this felt like the most action-packed, fun-filled day of the entire journey.

You'll barely find any reviews online about the Mongolian Nomadic Show 🐫,
which is why booking with Nora Tour is the perfect way to experience the real, authentic Mongolia.
You get to meet a real local family,

and we even visited an authentic ger where a Mongolian family actually lives.
Being welcomed inside as their guest
made me feel like I had stepped right into a travel documentary!

They even played traditional instruments and sang for us,
and it was truly an unforgettable moment.

After lunch, we took some photos at Turtle Rock
and headed over to visit Aryapala Temple.

And oh my gosh, we laughed so hard during
the eagle experience, horseback riding, and trying on traditional clothing!
I think I laughed the most on our last day.
Looking back, I ended up riding a camel, a yak, and a horse during this trip!
I'll do a detailed, separate post on these soon,
so stay tuned!

→ Airport Drop-off 🥹
On our last day, I told our guide
that I wished I could stay just one more day—
that's how much I fell in love with Mongolia...
It can be hard to take the plunge and decide to come to Mongolia,
but with Nora Tour, you don't have to worry about a single thing!
Mongolia is a place I'd love to revisit as a backpacker, without a heavy suitcase 🇲🇳.
I actually saw quite a few backpackers around.

The tour starts on Day 1 with Tsenkher Hot Springs (478 km), followed by Karakorum and the Mini Gobi (290 km) on Day 2, and Terelj National Park (339 km) on Day 3. On the final Day 4, the tour concludes with a 110 km drive for airport drop-off.
For safety and ride comfort, we primarily use HiAce vehicles. However, for an additional fee of ~$6 per team, you can take commemorative photos with a Furgon and experience a short ride in it.
We provide free rentals of power banks, SIM cards, sleeping bags, and one poncho per person. In addition, two bottles of mineral water are provided daily, and you can also use the airport pick-up and drop-off services for free.
The guide does not cook directly; instead, we visit highly-rated local restaurants for meals. This reduces the risk of food spoilage during the summer and allows the guide to focus more on guiding the tour.
We recommend natural herbal tea gathered from the steppes, high-purity Mongolian honey, and pine nut honey, which makes a great nutritious snack. High-quality Mongolian pine nuts and chocolates made with local milk are also excellent, casual gift choices.
