MIAT Mongolian Airlines Carry-On Baggage Rules
In-Cabin Baggage Regulations

🇲🇳 MIAT Mongolian Airlines Carry-On Allowance
1️⃣ Economy Class: Maximum 17.6 lbs (8kg)
2️⃣ Business Class: Maximum 26.5 lbs (12kg)
(Size Limit: 21.6 inches (55cm) x 15.7 inches (40cm) x 7.8 inches (20cm))
(Total dimensions (length + width + height) must not exceed 45.2 inches (115cm))

MIAT Mongolian Airlines Baggage Regulations
MIAT's carry-on weight limit of 17.6 lbs (8kg) is quite strict. To make your travel prep easier and ensure you stay within limits, I highly recommend choosing a lightweight suitcase or backpack for your carry-on items.
MIAT Mongolian Airlines Checked Baggage Rules

If you're planning a longer trip to Mongolia, say 6-7 days, then you'll definitely want to check the checked baggage regulations:
1️⃣ Economy Class: 1 piece (Maximum 50.7 lbs (23kg))
2️⃣ Business Class: 1 piece (Maximum 70.5 lbs (32kg) each)
3️⃣ Size Limit: Total dimensions (length + width + height) must not exceed 62.2 inches (158cm)
For those planning to bring back beautiful cashmere and other unique souvenirs from Mongolia, opting for a lightweight and highly durable suitcase is a smart choice. This way, you'll have more allowance for your purchases without exceeding the weight limits.

Checked baggage is quite different from carry-on. With maximum weights of 50.7 lbs (23kg) to 70.5 lbs (32kg) and a generous total dimension limit of 62.2 inches (158cm), you'll have plenty of space. However, this also means the durability of your suitcase is paramount to protect your belongings during transit.

Once you've successfully navigated MIAT Airlines' carry-on and checked baggage regulations and made it through security, all that's left is to wait for your flight!
I booked a semi-package tour for my Mongolian adventure, so I arranged to meet my fellow travelers (who were strangers until then!) at the boarding gate. It was a 1 AM flight, transitioning from Friday to Saturday, so I was pretty tired after work. But the sheer excitement of the journey ahead kept me wide awake!

On MIAT's international flight, the Business Class section looked quite spacious with comfortable-looking leather seats.
The legroom in Business Class was indeed generous. But even in Economy Class, I found the seating surprisingly comfortable and not cramped at all.

As you can see in the photos above, even at nearly 6 feet (180cm) tall, my knees didn't touch the seat in front of me in Economy Class, which made for a very comfortable flight.
Compared to some other carriers where legroom can be a real squeeze, MIAT Mongolian Airlines offered ample space. This positive experience definitely makes me consider flying with them again for future international trips to Mongolia!
MIAT Mongolian Airlines In-Flight Meal

MIAT Mongolian Airlines serves one in-flight meal on the way to Mongolia. You usually get to choose between chicken and steak, though options can vary slightly depending on your seat location. My travel companion, whose seat was in an awkward middle section, only had steak left as an option. So, choosing your seat wisely might help you get your preferred meal!

After the main meal, we were pleasantly surprised with ice cream! It was a delightful treat, perfect for capping off the meal.

Immigration at Chinggis Khaan International Airport (ULN) was quick and efficient. While waiting for our semi-package tour guide, we chatted with fellow travelers. Soon enough, our guide arrived, and we hopped into a Furgon van, ready to kick off our Mongolian adventure right away!
