Soraegi Mokpo: Famous Su-yuk Muchim & Hamheung Naengmyeon

I recently visited Mokpo for a fantastic summer getaway.

I'm a big fan of the popular Korean food show 'Delicious Guys,' and when I saw their special on Naengmyeon (cold noodles) featuring Mokpo, it immediately landed on my travel list.

We set off from Seoul in the early morning, picking up a friend along the way!

Moon Se-yoon's reaction to the Su-yuk Muchim (spicy boiled pork salad) on 'Delicious Guys' looked incredibly tempting, so I had to find this place.

It's renowned as a top Mokpo restaurant, so we made sure to arrive right at their 11 AM opening time.

As the first customers, we were greeted with the menu!

Su-yuk Muchim (Spicy Boiled Pork Salad) ~$15

Noodle Refill ~$3

Mul Naengmyeon (Cold Noodle Soup) ~$7

We were told that adding extra noodles to the Su-yuk Muchim meant we wouldn't need to order Bibim Naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles) separately.

So, we ordered the Su-yuk Muchim with an extra noodle refill and two bowls of Mul Naengmyeon.

The Su-yuk Muchim was incredibly generous in portion size.

It wasn't overly sweet or aggressively spicy, but had a perfectly balanced sweet and tangy flavor that made it impossible to put our chopsticks down.

Everyone's chopsticks were moving so fast, I barely had time to snap a photo before they dug in! Haha.

My mouth was watering, so I quickly took my shot and slurped it down.

The thin noodles were a perfect touch.

The Mul Naengmyeon broth was unlike any I'd tasted before.

It had a deeply savory, long-simmered flavor, served refreshingly chilled with a hint of icy slush.

The tangy and clean taste meant it was perfectly balanced, no extra vinegar needed.

Since most of us preferred spicy mixed noodles, we even added some of the Mul Naengmyeon noodles to the Su-yuk Muchim, and it was absolutely delicious!

Throughout our trip in Mokpo, everyone kept talking about how much they missed the Su-yuk Muchim from Soraegi.

If I ever visit Mokpo again, I'm 100% heading back to Soraegi. It's that good!

Right at the restaurant's entrance, there's a huge photo commemorating Moon Se-yoon's visit from 'Delicious Guys'.

I asked the owner if he really ate a lot, and he seemed a little disappointed, mentioning he had expected Moon Se-yoon to eat even more. Apparently, he had already eaten two bowls of Mul Naengmyeon before visiting Soraegi!
