Mokhyang Jeonpo Busan Review: Authentic Korean Sotbap
Discover Mokhyang in Jeonpo, Busan—a cozy hidden gem serving authentic Korean sotbap (hot pot rice) with tender beef short ribs and seasoned salmon.

The Exterior
Located just a 3-minute walk
from Jeonpo Station, Exit 6,
Mokhyang is a cozy spot specializing in sotbap (traditional hot pot rice).
As a relatively new addition to the neighborhood,
it's quickly gaining word-of-mouth popularity
for serving incredibly satisfying, wholesome meals.
With its convenient location and intimate atmosphere,
it's the perfect spot for a casual date night
or a hearty, authentic Korean dinner.

The exterior has a beautifully clean, minimalist aesthetic.
The Interior

Since they also serve
a selection of alcoholic beverages in the evening,
there is a nice bar counter seating area.

Once you place your order,
your hot pot rice is freshly brewed on the spot,
allowing you to enjoy it
piping hot.
The interior is designed
with a slightly dim, moody lighting.

Seating Options
In addition to the bar counter,
there are about four comfortable
4-person tables tucked further inside,
providing plenty of space
to enjoy your sotbap.

They offer a great variety of drinks to pair with your dinner.
Coat Storage & Comfort
Since it's winter and we had heavy coats,
we were worried about where to put them.
Fortunately, they have convenient hangers available,
so we could hang our jackets up
and grab an apron
to enjoy our meal comfortably.

Opening Hours
Open daily from 11:30 AM to 8:30 PM
The Menu
The signature dishes here are:
Beef Short Rib Sotbap: ~$11
Salmon Sotbap: ~$10

The Food Experience
We ordered both the Salmon Sotbap
and the Beef Short Rib Sotbap.
The side dishes are simple but elegant.
The house salad features a savory peanut and perilla seed dressing
that is incredibly nutty and flavorful.
It's served alongside roasted seaweed (gim)
and a comforting cabbage soup.

They must use top-tier rice here.
The rice itself was so fluffy and delicious,
it really elevated the entire meal.
The Salmon Sotbap was lightly and perfectly seasoned,
making every bite absolutely delightful.

Just looking at this photo makes my mouth water again!

The lady who served us,
who seemed to be the owner's mother,
warmly explained the best way to eat the sotbap.
Her thoughtful hospitality and attentive service
truly warmed our hearts.

The Beef Short Rib Sotbap
was incredibly tender.
Topped with crispy garlic flakes and fresh green onions,
it had wonderful layers of texture and flavor.

As a sweet finish,
they served us a refreshing blueberry sherbet—
it was the perfect palate cleanser!
The meal was beautifully presented, clean, and surprisingly filling.
We left feeling incredibly satisfied and energized.
With high-quality ingredients like premium beef and fresh salmon,
paired with the warmest hospitality,
Mokhyang is a must-visit sotbap spot in Busan.
