Taipei Travel Guide: Miramar Ferris Wheel
Our Taipei FunPass Experience
Did you know Taipei has its own iconic Ferris wheel?
While the Miramar Ferris Wheel might be a bit outside the bustling Ximending area, its proximity to the magnificent National Palace Museum makes it a perfect pairing for a day of exploration.
Today, I'll share everything you need to know about booking tickets, including how to leverage the Taipei FunPass, and give you a firsthand account of the experience!

Miramar Ferris Wheel (美麗華百樂園摩天輪) |
Operating Hours: 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM Closed: Never (Open Daily) Location: 5th Floor, Miramar Shopping Mall |
The Miramar Ferris Wheel is nestled on the 5th floor of the Miramar Shopping Mall, conveniently located directly in front of Jiannan Rd. Station.
Its location, not far from the National Palace Museum, makes it an ideal spot to combine with a cultural morning for a truly memorable day.
📍 Plus, operating daily from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM, you can choose between breathtaking daytime panoramas or a magical night view.
I personally visited after a fascinating docent tour at the National Palace Museum in the morning, and it was the perfect follow-up.

The Miramar Ferris Wheel has a unique pricing structure: on weekdays, it's 150 TWD for adults and 120 TWD for children. On weekends, prices are slightly higher at 200 TWD for adults and 150 TWD for children.
However, if you book in advance online, you can often ride for around ~$4, which saves you roughly ~$1 to ~$2 compared to purchasing on-site.

A pro tip: while the 1 or 2-day FunPass options can be a bit pricier, the 3-day pass often provides the best overall value for your Taipei adventures!
Next, let's walk through how to get to the Miramar Ferris Wheel, exchange your tickets, and what to expect from the ride itself.

Even without entering the Miramar Department Store, you can take the external escalators directly up to the 5th-floor Ferris wheel boarding area.
It was quite interesting to ascend continuously on the escalators, without stopping at any intermediate floors, just as you see in the photos.

The 5th floor connects to the department store, but also features a rooftop garden and an arcade.
As you ride the escalators up, you'll find yourself approaching the arcade section.

Step outside, and there it is – the magnificent Ferris wheel!

Ferris wheel tickets can be purchased or exchanged at the red circular ticket booth, as pictured. Even if you've pre-booked your tickets online or are using the Taipei FunPass, you'll need to exchange them for boarding passes here.

I used my Taipei FunPass, presented it at the ticket booth, and received my boarding pass.

We arrived right at 1:00 PM, presented our tickets, and boarded without any wait.

The Ferris wheel's height was quite impressive, offering expansive views stretching far into the distance.
The sight of apartment complexes, tall buildings, and mountains embracing the city in the background felt somewhat familiar, reminiscent of many vibrant urban landscapes.

In one direction, we could even spot Taipei 101 in the far distance.
It's incredible that we could see it from nearly 4.3 miles away!

One minor drawback was some ongoing construction right in front, which slightly obstructed the view in certain sections.
However, taking in the city skyline from the Ferris wheel is truly romantic and definitely worth experiencing!

Today, I've taken you through the Miramar Ferris Wheel, a fantastic spot to soak in Taipei's scenery and enjoy a touch of romance.
It's reasonably priced and offers a lovely atmosphere, though its location requires a bit of planning. The perfect itinerary? Spend your morning at the National Palace Museum, then head here for a delightful afternoon ride!
Refer to our ticket booking tips and ride review to ensure you have a wonderfully romantic time on the Ferris wheel!
