Discover Meriton Suites Campbell Street, Sydney's top pick for value in 2026. Enjoy self-catering facilities, a prime location near Central Station, vibrant nightlife, and strong shower pressure for your next Australian adventure.

Sydney's Best Value Accommodation
Meriton Suites Campbell (Self-Catering Available)
As many travelers know, Sydney's accommodation can be quite pricey.
Especially if you're planning a stay of five nights or more, hotel costs can really add up.
That's why I was on the hunt for a clean, budget-friendly place that also offered kitchen facilities, so we could save money by cooking meals, maybe even grilling up some steaks after a grocery run.

After scouting several options, Meriton Suites Campbell Street stood out as the top choice for value accommodation in Sydney, boasting both a fantastic location and excellent cooking facilities. We booked it without hesitation!
1. Location & Transportation
2. Fully Equipped Kitchen
3. Spotless Room Condition
4. Nearby Dining & Shopping
5. Vibrant Street Atmosphere
Here's my honest, self-funded review after a 6-night stay, broken down into these key points!
1. Location & Transportation

Arriving from Sydney Airport via the airport train, we found the hotel incredibly easy to reach. Central Station is just a 5-minute walk away, making for a stress-free arrival.

What truly sealed the deal was the tram stop, located practically right outside the hotel, a mere 1-2 minute walk away. This made getting to all the major tourist attractions incredibly convenient!

We arrived on an early morning flight, so we dropped our luggage at the hotel and started our exploration. The staff were incredibly nice and accommodating.

The elevators were a bit unique – instead of floor numbers, they displayed letters like A, D. You just hop on the one that lights up for your floor. While generally efficient, there could be a slight wait during peak hours, which was a minor drawback.
2. Kitchen & Cooking Facilities

Stepping inside, the room condition was exactly as spotless as reviews had promised! ✨

And there it was – a fully equipped kitchen with an induction cooktop, microwave, large refrigerator, and even a dishwasher!

The large refrigerator was a game-changer for longer stays, allowing us to stock up on groceries and keep everything fresh.
We actually cooked steaks, and the induction cooktop had surprisingly strong heat!

There was even a capsule coffee machine, an electric kettle, and a toaster. The microwave was especially useful for heating up quick meals.

While not brand-new, when you're cooking, hygiene and cleanliness are paramount, right?
I thoroughly read reviews and saw many positive comments about the kitchen and dishware being spotless, which is why I chose this particular Meriton Suites location. 👩🏻🍳
3. Coles Supermarket & Steak Nights

✔️ Coles Supermarket World Square, where we frequently went for groceries and more, was just a 5-minute walk away. This is where we bought steaks to cook back at the suite.

In Sydney, where dining out can be expensive, cooking supermarket beef steaks is a fantastic way to save on food costs.

Personally, the BONE IN RIB EYE, a Tomahawk ribeye cut with butter, was the most delicious. 👍🏻
For reference, the middle cut, SCOTCH FILLET, is ribeye, and above it is Australian lamb chops. Yes, we bought quite a lot!

You can get a satisfying steak from the supermarket for around ~$6 to ~$13, so anyone looking to save on dining expenses will be very happy.

Sizzling away – these moments are truly the happiest on vacation!
The steaks even came with butter, which was a nice touch, and the portions were incredibly generous.

Personally, I ranked them: Ribeye > Scotch Fillet > Lamb Chops. We also bought lettuce and mushrooms from Coles, and the lettuce was incredibly fresh and delicious! 👍🏻

The lamb chops weren't bad (a fellow blogger raved about them, so we tried them), but they had a slight gamey flavor that might not appeal to everyone.

If you're looking to cut down on food expenses or traveling with a larger family, I highly recommend trying a steak night at a self-catering apartment like this.

There's also a spacious dining table, perfect for late-night snacks or enjoying a casual beer!

Although our itinerary was too packed to visit, the hotel also offers ✔️ a gym, swimming pool, and sauna, which guests can use.

During our visit, the price was around ~$128 per night. It seems to be in a similar range now (~$109 - ~$128), so it's a good idea to check prices before your trip.

4. Room Condition

The room condition was generally clean and comfortable, with efficient use of space that prevented any cramped feeling.

Room cleaning service is typically provided every three days or so. If you need more towels, you can request them for an extra supply.
Considering we planned to hang a 'Do Not Disturb' sign for privacy and to keep our belongings safe anyway, and given the price point, this was a perfectly acceptable arrangement.

The view wasn't bad either, right? It was fun checking the weather through the window every morning. ⛅️

We never even turned on the TV, but the sofa and coffee table in front of it were very useful for organizing our things.
5. Laundry & Bathroom

Having a washing machine and dryer right in the room is incredibly convenient, especially for longer stays.

The bathroom was very spacious, and the amenities were clean and pleasant to use.
But wow... the water pressure... it was incredibly strong!!! 🚿🚿🚿

I hadn't realized this would be such a major plus during a trip, but every shower felt so refreshing.
I'd seen reviews mentioning weaker water pressure at other Meriton Suites locations (like Kent Street), but Meriton Suites Campbell definitely exceeded expectations. I highly recommend it to anyone who values strong shower pressure!
The amenities felt generally clean and high-quality!

The closet space was ample, and although I didn't get a picture, there was also an iron, which was great for pressing shirts and other clothes.
6. Lively Nightlife

Near Chinatown, there were plenty of restaurants open late, and the area felt much more vibrant at night compared to other parts of the city. (Surprisingly, it wasn't overly noisy or felt unsafe.)

Especially with Paddy's Market right across the street, it was super convenient to shop and then head straight back to the hotel to unpack.
7. Honest Review

1. Self-catering facilities make it excellent value for money, especially for longer trips.
2. The tram stop is right outside, making transportation easy, and there are many restaurants open late nearby.
3. Coles Supermarket and Paddy's Market are great for shopping.
4. The bathroom shower has excellent water pressure.
5. The hotel lobby has a pleasant scent, and the cleanliness was impeccable; we didn't spot a single bug.
For our 6-night stay in Sydney, this hotel delivered on both location and value!
