Along with Universal Studios that I introduced earlier,
one place I personally believe you absolutely
shouldn't miss among the must-visit places in Singapore
is the Mandai Wildlife Reserve.
Singapore's Mandai is a large-scale natural wildlife complex
that brings together world-class ecological theme parks,
including not just the typical zoo we're familiar with, but also the Night Safari and more.
You can experience more than you can imagine here,
so if you love animals like I do,
or are planning a Singapore trip with children,
make sure to reference this post and definitely don't miss it!!!!
1. Location
Mandai, where the Singapore Zoo is located,
is a little bit further from the city center.

Ae-ryong and I were short on time, and since
she was pregnant, we took a taxi. However,
it's perfectly fine to travel by MRT.
Take the MRT to Khatib Station,
then hop on the Mandai Express shuttle bus from Exit A,
and you'll arrive in about 20 minutes! That's the gist!
2. Mandai Wildlife Reserve (Multi-Park)
The "Mandai Wildlife Reserve" includes:
in addition to the Singapore Zoo,
the "Night Safari" where you can observe animals at night,
"Bird Paradise", home to a variety of bird species,
and "River Wonders", themed around rivers,
and most recently opened, Asia's first
adventure-based wildlife park, "Wild Adventure".
There are a total of 5 distinct wildlife parks,
each with its own unique characteristics.
As someone who has visited all these places,
since each park has such distinct characteristics,
if you have enough time during your trip,
I highly recommend visiting all five.

By the way, individual tickets for each park
are cheaper when purchased through a platform, but
if you buy a combo ticket, you can book it for a much, much lower price
than purchasing tickets for all 5 parks separately.
So, if you're already in Singapore and want to explore everything,

If you have very young children with you,
or if someone in your party is pregnant like me,
it's better to choose and visit about two parks instead of trying to see all of them.

It's my first time in Singapore, and I don't know what to choose.
If you're having this dilemma,
my personal recommendations are the combinations of
Night Safari and Singapore Zoo or River Wonders.
3. Review of Must-Visit Places in Singapore
Singapore Night Safari
First up, Singapore's Night Safari
is the world's very first nocturnal zoo.
If you could only choose one place to visit,
this is an absolutely must-do on your Singapore itinerary!
As a nocturnal zoo, entry begins at 6 PM,
so you can explore other attractions in the morning and afternoon.
Then, grab a quick dinner and head over to the Night Safari,
and you've got yourself a perfect Singapore zoo adventure!
By the way, when you purchase your ticket, you can select an entry time.
Personally, I recommend the earliest slot, 7:15 PM.
At Singapore's Night Safari,
you can observe the animals from a tram.
If you enter later, there can be quite a wait for the tram,
so it's best to go during the first entry slot and hop on quickly.
Usually, you can enter a little earlier than the official opening time.
If you happen to miss this early slot and the tram queue is too long,
another great option is to explore the walking trails first.
Alternatively, at the amphitheater right next to the entrance,
7:30pm/8:30pm/9:30pm
there are three shows happening throughout the evening.
Catching a show first is another highly recommended option!!
Just keep in mind, if you arrive too late, it might be harder to spot the animals,
so try to time your visit just right to make the most of it!
Singapore Zoo
Before visiting the Night Safari,
you can either explore the Singapore Zoo or River Wonders.
The choice is entirely up to your personal preference!
First off, at the Singapore Zoo,
you'll get to meet amazing animals like tigers, giraffes, and elephants.
"Huh? Isn't that just a regular zoo?" you might think, but
it's home to over 4,200 animals
and is considered one of the world's best rainforest zoos!
Plus, it operates on an "open concept",
allowing you to get even closer to the animals
and enjoy incredible experiences like feeding giraffes!
If you're more interested in river-themed wildlife
than typical zoo animals, then I highly recommend "River Wonders".
The first thing you absolutely can't miss at River Wonders is,
of course, the "Amazon River Quest"!
This activity takes you on a boat ride, mimicking a journey along the Amazon River,
where you get to see all sorts of animals.
It's incredibly popular with tourists!
While you might get a little splash of water, it's nothing too severe,
so don't worry too much and just hop on board!
Another highly recommended highlight at River Wonders is...
none other than the "Giant Pandas"!
To be honest, I also came to River Wonders specifically to see the pandas,
and it was genuinely, absolutely, 100% satisfying! 💚
The pandas themselves are beyond adorable,
and when you're watching them in a place with amazing air conditioning,
it truly feels like heaven!! Seriously!
If you're a true panda enthusiast, then River Wonders is
an absolute must-not-miss on your Singapore itinerary,
so make sure not to skip it and experience it for yourself~
During all my previous trips to Singapore,
I've made it a point to visit every single themed zoo,
and honestly, while it was a bit challenging to explore them all in one day,
it was such a satisfying experience that I don't have even an ounce of regret.
Of course, if you're traveling with very young children or elderly parents,
or visiting during a particularly hot season,
I'd recommend choosing an appropriate combination that suits your situation.
However, if your circumstances allow,
I truly hope you'll experience all of Mandai for yourself!

Take the MRT to Khatib Station, then exit A and board the Mandai Shuttle. The shuttle bus takes approximately 20 minutes.
Mandai Wildlife Reserve is home to five wildlife parks: Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, Bird Paradise, River Wonders, and Wild Adventure. If you wish to visit all of them, purchasing a multi-park combo ticket is significantly cheaper than buying individual tickets for each.
It's recommended to enter early by selecting the earliest admission time, 7:15 pm, when purchasing your ticket. If the tram queue is long, you could consider exploring the walking trails first or watching the shows at the amphitheater (7:30 pm/8:30 pm/9:30 pm).
