Today, I've prepared a post to help you organize your souvenir shopping list for your Malaysia trip.
I'll be introducing a variety of items like these:D
My trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, proved that while it might seem like there's not much to buy, there are surprisingly many great finds!
Read this before you go, and I hope you bring back lots of delicious and cute goodies! 🎁
Personally, my favorite souvenirs are the
Himalaya Salt Candy, Beryl's Tiramisu Chocolate,
Malacca souvenir T-shirt, and the Starbucks bag.
I'll introduce each of them in detail below!
Oh, by the way! I used a **Travel Wallet**, and since most local supermarkets accept card payments,
I didn't need to exchange currency separately.
If I needed cash, I could convert money using my Travel Wallet and withdraw it from an ATM, which was super convenient.
I think I spent around ~$104 on souvenir shopping!

1. Our Guide's Recommendations
First, I'll introduce the travel souvenirs recommended by our Malaysia travel guide.
These are perfect souvenirs to share with friends and family.
**Himalaya Salt Candy...**
Each one costs 2 Ringgit, which is about ~$0, so the price was incredibly affordable.
This photo was taken at the airport, but prices vary slightly at different supermarkets, so you might find it even cheaper elsewhere.
It's such a popular product that many people even buy it by the box!
I bought a box of 12, plus a few individual candies too.
The flavor is a sweet lemon with a subtle saltiness
+ a refreshing, menthol-like throat lozenge taste.
It was surprisingly delicious and I loved that cool, refreshing feeling.
It's tasty and great for sharing, so I highly recommend this Malaysian souvenir ⭐
Just a heads-up: there's also a ginger flavor, so
if you're not a fan of ginger, make sure to check carefully before buying.
The ginger flavor is marked 'Ginger' on the side of the package.
This was also recommended by our guide –
it's **ENO 💓fruity effervescent digestive aid💓** which you can buy at convenience stores or drugstores.
I bought the lemon and orange flavors, and I actually tried it recently when I had an upset stomach, and
it tasted like a sweet and tangy lemonade.
It was great to have a digestive aid that tasted good, and since it's in powder form, it's easy to carry around.
This also makes a great gift to share!

I don't remember the exact price, but for two attached packs, it was probably around 3 Ringgit?
Looking at the amount charged to my card, it seems to have been around 3.1 or 3.72.
You can think of it as roughly ~$1.

2. Internet-Famous Snacks
From the snack shopping lists I saw online, the most frequently featured item was **Beryl's Tiramisu Chocolate!**
The red one has almonds inside, and the pink one is Tiramisu chocolate.
I've only tried the one with almonds so far,
Inside the soft Tiramisu chocolate,
there was a nutty almond, and it was delicious.
I liked that they were individually wrapped inside.
I'm not sure about the exact price, but I think the small one was around ~$1 to ~$2?
That's roughly what it felt like.
It was so delicious, I wished I had bought a bigger one! I thought to myself.
They say Beryl's is like Ghana Chocolate if you compare it to what we have in Korea,
and there were many other types like almond chocolate,
hazelnut chocolate, and more.
I also tried the hazelnut chocolate, and it was delicious.
Someone gifted me this at the airport,
and isn't the tin case with the Twin Towers drawn on it just so pretty?
Inside, there are almond chocolates (not Tiramisu).
The Tiramisu chocolate is definitely tastier, but
I really loved this one because the tin case is so beautiful.
I had also seen Grandma's Kaya Jam online,
but there were hardly any places selling it.
I went to a small market at a gas station somewhere along the way,
and they had four of them, so my companion and I each bought two. After that,
I couldn't find them again,,,
It's delicious when you spread it with butter.
The price was around 3.7 and it's supposedly about ~$1.
I heard that BOH tea varieties are also famous,
and the tea shown above was delicious when I made it into milk tea.
I had high hopes for the matcha latte because people said it was good, but it was just average.
📌 How to make milk tea
Steep 1 tea bag in half a paper cup of hot water.
Add 180ml of cold milk.
Add 1.5 spoons of sugar and a tiny pinch of salt.
It tastes delicious when you make it this way..
I've made about 5 cups so far.
I also heard that the jelly with SOUR+ written on it is famous, so
I bought a few, but they were just okay for my taste.
It's a jelly with sour powder on the outside!
The sourness was nice, but the fruit flavor felt a bit artificial,
so I didn't really find them delicious.
The purple one was a bit more sour and tasty.

3. Things I Just Bought Out of Curiosity
I also bought Laksa and Ali Coffee.
I was just curious what kind of instant noodles people here eat,
so I bought them, but
I haven't cooked and tried them yet.
As for Ali Coffee, when I went to the supermarket with my guide,
people were trying to buy other coffees, but
they were told to buy OldTown Coffee or Ali Coffee.
So I just bought one. I haven't tried it myself, but
a friend who tried it said the coffee is a bit thick.

4. Magnets
The travel souvenir you can't leave out – magnets!
They had so many cute ones.
I bought 3 magnets for 10 Ringgit at Central Market.
You can think of each one as being about ~$1.
There were many designs, but these two were so pretty that
I chose one of the left magnet and two of the right magnet.
For your reference, magnets sold at the airport
were about 19 Ringgit each.
Around ~$4 each!
The quality seemed a bit better, but
from a quick glance, there wasn't a huge difference,
so I think it's better to buy them at Central Market.

5. Cute Finds I Couldn't Resist
And now, I'm not sure if these are famous or anything,
but let me introduce you to some cute things I bought after just seeing them in passing.
A short-sleeved T-shirt I bought from a T-shirt shop in Malacca!
It's a printed T-shirt featuring designs hand-drawn by an artist,
and isn't it just adorable?
There were so many different designs, it was hard to choose!
My guide said the quality wasn't great, but...
since I was planning to wear it as pajamas anyway,
I just picked the cutest one and bought it.
It's a painting done by someone personally,
and the drawing is incredibly cute.
It feels like a unique souvenir,
so it's my absolute favorite purchase from this trip!
And this is a bag I bought at the Starbucks in Kuala Lumpur Airport.
I wasn't sure what it was called, so I did a quick search and found out it's the
Starbucks Malaysia 25th Anniversary Limited Edition
PVC Beach Bag.
Actually, I didn't buy this myself; someone else got it for me,
and it's so cute and surprisingly sturdy, which I love.
Finally, this is a gorgeous tea coaster I got at Central Market, and I absolutely love it too.
I really ran out of time and couldn't take more photos,
but there were so many other beautiful designs besides this one.
A souvenir that's both practical and pretty – definitely a winner! 🍀
