When you travel to Shanghai,
one of the must-try dishes
is definitely crab roe noodles.
Wondering where to find the best, I did a lot of searching,
and discovered Li Bai Xie (이백게 李百蟹), a spot popular with locals and boasting beautiful Bund views.
To cut straight to the chase,
I went for the crab roe noodles, but was first blown away by the Oriental Pearl TV Tower view,
and then incredibly satisfied by the generous amount of crab roe – way more than I expected!
This place truly exceeded expectations, so I highly, highly recommend it!
Today, I'll be sharing everything about Li Bai Xie,
including the dishes I tried and some insider tips, one by one! :)

Li Bai Xie is located in the Bund 22 building, a place you'll likely visit during your Shanghai trip,
situated conveniently between Yuyuan Garden and The Bund.
It's an elegant, red-brick building,
easily spotted from a distance, and beautiful in its own right,
making it easy to find, as many people stop to take photos out front.
Step inside, and the interior is even more luxurious than the exterior.
Take the elevator up, and you'll find the restaurant right away,
so even first-timers won't get lost.
If you're using the subway to get to Li Bai Xie,
it's about a 10-minute walk from Yuyuan Garden Station,
making it perfect for planning your Shanghai itinerary.
When your travel time is limited, spending precious moments traveling back and forth to a single restaurant can feel like a waste.
That's why I recommend combining your visit into one smooth itinerary:
Explore Yuyuan Garden → Dine at Li Bai Xie → Enjoy The Bund's night view.
2. Atmosphere & Window Seat Tips
Stepping inside, I was surprised by how spacious the restaurant was.
It was packed with customers, from locals to tourists,
making it clear this is a popular crab roe noodle spot in Shanghai.
The tables weren't too close together,
and the overall atmosphere was clean and calm,
allowing for a surprisingly comfortable meal, especially for a restaurant in the middle of a tourist area.
With so many people, it truly felt like a beloved local Shanghai eatery!
Another reason I highly recommend Li Bai Xie at The Bund location
is the incredible view from the window seats.
If you manage to snag a window seat, you'll see the Huangpu River on the opposite side,
with the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and the Pudong skyline stretching out before you.
Instead of navigating the crowded Bund,
you can sit in the cool restaurant, enjoy your meal, and take in the Oriental Pearl view.
Eating delicious crab roe noodles in such an atmosphere made the experience even more delightful!
However, with such a great view, window seats are highly sought after!
There can be waiting lines during evening peak hours,
so if a window seat overlooking the Oriental Pearl is important to you,
I recommend arriving a bit earlier than opening or standard meal times.
Even if you're initially seated inside, it's worth asking if you can move to a window seat if one becomes available.
I actually saw other customers moving seats before their food arrived,
so if the view is a priority,
definitely ask if you can sit by the window.
3. Li Bai Xie Menu & Prices
At first, I thought ordering just crab roe noodles would be enough,
but after checking the menu, I realized that if two people are visiting,
the 2-person set, 蟹全宴 (Xiè Quányàn), is a really great option.
The 2-person set we ordered was 338 Yuan.
It includes three different crab roe sauces – showcasing crab roe, crab meat, and crab leg meat separately –
along with noodles, rice, and drunken shrimp, all served at once.
It's a really substantial meal for two, so if it's your first visit, I highly recommend going for the set.
The set doesn't just come with one type of crab roe sauce;
it offers several different varieties.
This made it fun to compare the slightly different flavors, mixing them with noodles and topping them on rice.
We also added desserts and drinks separately.
For two people, enjoying a full crab course, desserts, and drinks,
the total bill came out to 490 Yuan.
If you use China's local restaurant review app,
Dianping (大众点评),
you can find set menus and discounted offers.
However, for those unfamiliar with using Chinese apps or making payments,
there's also an option to pre-book from home (or outside China).
Since **Klook also sells a 2-person set for Yibai Crab Noodles**,
I recommend comparing prices with Dianping before booking.
Especially in China, using local apps for the first time
can involve a bit of a hassle with various verifications and payment processes,
so if the price difference isn't significant, booking in advance seems like a good idea.

4. Crab Noodle Review
Finally, the crab dish I was most curious about arrived.
What I loved immediately was
**not having to shell the crab myself!**
Since all the crab meat and roe are meticulously prepared and served,
there's no need to get your hands messy
or wrestle with crab legs;
you can just mix it right into your noodles or rice and dig in.
When I heard crab innards were included,
I wondered if there might be a fishy taste.
However, I barely detected any fishy aroma or flavor.
Instead, the generous crab meat delivered a deep, savory, and luscious taste,
making me understand why everyone says you *must* try crab noodles in Shanghai.
It was more like mixing a rich crab sauce with noodles, if that makes sense?
After mixing the noodles, the sauce nestled perfectly into every strand,
so even when I just picked up noodles, crab meat came along,
making it feel much more substantial.
5. Tips for Even Better Flavor
And there's one thing I definitely recommend you try at Yibai Crab.
It's to **add the vinegar available on your table!**
When I first tried it without adding anything, I savored a rich and substantial flavor
from the crab roe and innards.
But adding a little vinegar introduces an acidity
that perfectly cuts through that richness.
As I ate, I found it got a little rich, so the version with vinegar suited my palate even more.
So, don't add it from the start.
**I recommend eating about half plain, then adding vinegar to the rest**
to compare the two flavors!
6. Don't Miss Out on Dessert!
I only went thinking about the crab noodles, but Yibai Crab's desserts were surprisingly good!
The set includes taro-based desserts and
fluffy tofu pudding-like desserts.
The taro dessert was sweet and smooth,
while the tofu pudding was refreshing and not overly sweet,
making them perfect for cleansing your palate after a rich crab dish.
**Would I recommend this as a Shanghai Crab Noodle restaurant?**
Having visited myself, I felt that Yibai Crab is less a place you go
**_just_ for crab noodles, and more a place where you can enjoy the location and the view together**.

I'd say why not make the most of it and get the Oriental Pearl Tower view along with it?
