Navigating Ho Chi Minh City's Domestic Terminal

When you're traveling around Vietnam, chances are you'll find yourself transiting through Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City. It's the country's busiest hub, and with so many budget-friendly domestic flights, it's often the most practical way to hop between cities.

For instance, whenever I plan a trip to Phu Quoc, direct flights can get incredibly pricey if you don't book months in advance. My go-to travel hack is to book a quick flight to Ho Chi Minh City first, and then grab a domestic connection from there. It saves a ton of money, but it also means spending a fair amount of time waiting around the SGN domestic terminal.

The SGN Airport Fast Food Trap

In the past, my pre-flight ritual at SGN domestic terminal was pretty basic. I'd usually end up grabbing a quick bite at Burger King or Popeyes. There's something comforting about familiar fast food when you're traveling, but it definitely gets old and expensive quickly.

On my last trip, I decided to check my Priority Pass app to see if there were any lounges available in the domestic terminal. To my surprise, there was a highly-rated option right there. I happily skipped the burger line and headed straight for a more comfortable experience.

Finding the Lounge: Location & Hours

The domestic lounge is called the Le Saigonnais Business Lounge.

A quick heads-up on the location: I noticed that the Priority Pass app and The Lounge app actually show slightly conflicting information. One of them lists the location near Gate 14, but it is actually located near Gate 11. There is also a slight discrepancy in the opening hours listed online, but since most domestic flights don't depart in the middle of the night, it shouldn't affect your travel plans.

Many domestic lounges can feel cramped and offer very limited food options, but Le Saigonnais was a pleasant surprise. It's incredibly spacious, with plenty of comfortable seating areas and even an extra seating section tucked further inside if you need a quiet spot to work.

The buffet spread is quite impressive for a domestic lounge. They offer everything from fresh pastries and tropical fruits to a live noodle station and authentic local Vietnamese dishes. Since this is a domestic terminal, the focus is heavily on local Vietnamese cuisine, which I absolutely loved.

If you're looking for standard Western-style buffet items, the selection might feel a bit limited. However, if you appreciate a hot bowl of authentic Pho and local delicacies, you'll be very happy here.

While there isn't draft beer on tap, they have a fully stocked fridge with canned beers, wine, sodas, and juices. Depending on my mood, I'll grab a cold local beer if I want to relax, or a strong Vietnamese coffee if I need to get some work done before boarding.

I enjoyed a light meal of fresh noodle soup, some tropical fruit, and of course, a cup of famous Da Lat yogurt (don't skip this!) before boarding my flight to Phu Quoc.

I used to think airport lounges were an unnecessary luxury and that waiting at the gate was perfectly fine. However, as someone who travels frequently, I realized how quickly the cost of airport meals adds up—especially before late-night flights. Investing in a Priority Pass has easily paid for itself. Being able to access high-quality lounges like Le Saigonnais in domestic terminals makes the entire travel experience so much more seamless and enjoyable.
