Taiwan has long been my absolute favorite travel destination, and on my latest trip, I made sure to visit L'Atelier Lotus, a renowned spot for Taiwanese nougat crackers.
I remember Mimi Crackers used to be the go-to, but it seems they've been gone for quite a while now. It truly makes you feel how much time has passed!

A Peek at L'Atelier Lotus
I was a bit worried about long lines, but thankfully, there weren't many customers waiting, so I could purchase my crackers right away. Wait times might vary depending on when you visit, but the staff inside were diligently making fresh batches, so I imagine any wait wouldn't be too long!
It seems the owner or head baker is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu, a renowned French culinary school. That explains the quality!

They even have a menu in English, and some staff members speak English, so ordering was a breeze. Please note: they only accept cash payments.
L'Atelier offers six delightful varieties of nougat crackers. The classic scallion flavor is always a favorite. When I visited, the chocolate flavor was sold out – it must be quite popular! While scallion is undeniably the original and best, I'm now curious about the spicy flavor I overlooked during my order.
My L'Atelier Lotus Experience
As someone who once bought over ~$69 worth of Mimi Crackers (back in the day, of course!), I learned that often, you don't end up eating them all once you get home. So, I usually try to enjoy these treats locally. But the moment I took a bite of L'Atelier's nougat crackers, I knew I had to have more! I immediately went back and packed another box to take home. They were just that good!
The nougat at L'Atelier is incredibly creamy, offering a soft texture and a perfectly balanced sweet and salty flavor profile. It's not as chewy initially, but as time passes, the creamy texture develops a lovely chewiness. Pair these with a cup of coffee, and you'll find yourself devouring four in no time!
