Escape to La Scala, a gorgeous ocean-view cafe just steps from Daecheon Beach. Indulge in their famous fresh mango bingsu and soak in the coastal vibes!

A few years ago, while searching for a cozy spot near Daecheon Beach, I stumbled upon a hidden gem called La Scala. As I planned my return trip to Daecheon this summer, memories of this beautiful cafe came rushing back, making it an absolute must-visit on my itinerary!
And yes, I finally got to try their legendary fresh mango bingsu! Here is my honest review of this coastal escape.

La Scala is conveniently located on the second floor of the Mud Beach Hotel commercial building, making it incredibly easy to find right off the main beach strip.
2. The Atmosphere & Vibe

Stepping up to the second floor, you are immediately greeted by massive floor-to-ceiling windows that offer an uninterrupted view of the rolling waves. The natural sunlight floods the space, creating a warm, inviting glow that makes you want to linger for hours.

The interior is surprisingly spacious, with plenty of distance between tables, allowing for private conversations without feeling cramped.

What really sets this place apart is the gorgeous plant-focused decor. It feels like a tropical oasis right by the sea, offering a perfect healing atmosphere.

Tucked away in the back is a charming indoor greenhouse, complete with an Instagram-worthy mirror zone surrounded by lush foliage—perfect for snapping a quick travel selfie! 😍

While the indoor seating is lovely, nothing beats the outdoor terrace on a clear day. Feeling the cool ocean breeze while staring out at the horizon is the ultimate way to relax. It’s the main reason I keep coming back!

When I visited, the sea breeze was still a bit brisk, but with the weather warming up beautifully, right now is the absolute prime time to snag a spot on the terrace.

While La Scala is famous for its signature mango bingsu, they also offer a fantastic variety of refreshing fruit-infused ades, specialty coffees, smoothies, cakes, and freshly baked croissants.

The moment you walk in, the rich, buttery aroma of warm pastries wraps around you, instantly putting you in a great mood! :)

3. What to Order

Without hesitation, I ordered the highly anticipated Fresh Mango Bingsu!
4. The Taste Test

The presentation was absolutely stunning. A mountain of finely shaved, snow-like milk ice was completely blanketed by thick, juicy slices of fresh mango.

Crowning the dessert was a generous scoop of rich, chewy vanilla ice cream—guaranteed to cool you down instantly!

It comes with a side of concentrated mango syrup, allowing you to control the sweetness.
Pouring that sweet, vibrant syrup over the melt-in-your-mouth milk ice, creamy ice cream, and fresh fruit created a heavenly explosion of tropical flavors. It's the perfect balance of creamy, sweet, and tangy!

One bite and your tastebuds immediately wake up. It is the ultimate summer dessert to beat the coastal heat! 🌴💙

Overall, La Scala exceeded all expectations. The peaceful atmosphere, unique botanical design, and high-quality desserts make it a standout spot. Plus, it is only a 5-minute walk (about 0.2 miles) from Daecheon Beach, making it the perfect pitstop to rest your feet after exploring the sandy shores.

The ocean-view terrace is truly the star of the show. Enjoying a refreshing mango bingsu while looking out at the vast sea is pure therapy. Next time, I am definitely coming back right before golden hour to catch the famous West Coast sunset! :)
