La Buchetta Florence Review: Best Steak & Gnocchi

Today, I want to share one of my absolute favorite dining spots in Florence.

If you are looking for life-changing potato gnocchi and a legendary Florentine T-bone steak, this is the place you need to bookmark immediately.

Italy is a dream destination for food lovers, and Florence, in particular, has a food scene that constantly calls me back. Out of all the incredible meals we enjoyed during our trip, this restaurant stands out as an absolute must-visit.

Whatever you do, make sure you order the gnocchi. I still dream about it!

We strolled through the beautiful historic streets of Florence, admiring the gorgeous architecture as we made our way to our dinner reservation. Honestly, even the most ordinary buildings in this city look like a work of art.

La Buchetta has two locations nearby. The staff rotates between them, and they serve the exact same menu. The Google ratings speak for themselves, boasting an impressive 4.7 and 4.9 stars respectively.

This was the restaurant I was most excited about before our trip to Italy, so we made sure to book well in advance.

We ended up dining at the second location since the first one was already fully booked for our dates.

Once seated, we ordered a bottle of wine, an appetizer, a first course, and a main course. We polished off the appetizer so quickly that we forgot to take a photo! The staff recommended a fantastic local white wine, which came in a very cool table chilling bag that I wanted to take home with me.

Then came the gnocchi. It was an absolute revelation. This is the dish that set a new standard for what gnocchi should taste like.

Even though we only ordered one portion to share, the thoughtful staff split it onto two separate plates for my husband and me before serving. The service here is incredibly warm, attentive, and welcoming.

If I ever find myself back in Florence, I will return to La Buchetta solely for this gnocchi.

Next up was the main event: the massive Florentine T-bone steak.

While the gnocchi stole my heart, the steak was equally spectacular. You really can't go wrong with premium, fire-grilled Florentine beef.

It was seasoned beautifully with high-quality sea salt (it tasted like Maldon salt) which enhanced the rich, savory flavor of the meat perfectly.

The waiter carved the steak tableside with expert precision, placing the perfectly cooked, juicy slices onto our plates. It was tender, rich, and absolutely delicious.

With phenomenal food and top-tier hospitality, there is absolutely no reason to skip this place when you are in town.

Writing this review is making me incredibly hungry. Florence has so many amazing restaurants, but our stomach capacity is always the limiting factor!

Make sure you spend your meals on the absolute best spots. I highly recommend making a reservation at La Buchetta—please eat some gnocchi and T-bone steak for me!
