Aso-san Kusasenri Cafe Guide 2026: Menu, Parking & Scenic Views

A trip to Kumamoto isn't complete without visiting Aso-san and Kusasenri!

On my recent Kumamoto adventure, I focused on three key spots: Kusasenri, the cafe I'm about to share, and the Nakadake Crater. This itinerary was perfectly fulfilling and left me completely satisfied.

This area functions almost like a rest stop, with a collection of cafes, ice cream shops, and souvenir stores. It was ideal for parking, exploring, and taking a relaxing break.

The only restaurant inside the Aso-san Tourist Information Center

You can park directly in front of the building. Just input this into your GPS. The parking lot is spacious, so even novice drivers will find it easy to park!

Multiple buildings share this parking area, and you'll need to pay before exiting.

2) douce Nucca Cafe Interior Atmosphere

The interior of this Aso-san cafe feels clean and well-organized.

Despite the crowds, it felt much more spacious and tranquil compared to other establishments, with comfortable seating.

Since we were on a family trip, we preferred a calmer spot over a bustling hot spot, and everyone praised my choice!

With windows offering stunning Aso-san views, you can enjoy your meal, coffee, or tea while soaking in the scenery.

We initially planned to visit Kusasenri Lake (Kusasenrigahama), then this cafe, and finally the observatory. However, after enjoying the views from the cafe, we decided to skip the observatory.

The restrooms for men, women, and disabled individuals are all separate and impeccably clean.

With ample staff, this Kusasenri cafe maintains a high standard of cleanliness.

While prices might be a bit higher than other nearby cafes, the comfortable seating and incredible views make it well worth it.

4) Kusasenri Cafe Menu & How to Order

douce Nucca is essentially a restaurant that serves both coffee and meals.

You can order drinks à la carte. Simply place your order using the tablet at your table, and then call a staff member to pay after your meal!

They also offer alcoholic beverages, including beer and wine.

You'll find a wide variety of options, including juices, milk, and various teas, perfect for children and adults alike.

While the meal options are on the pricier side, I heard they are quite delicious!

A friend who visited previously highly recommended dining here instead of anywhere else.

If you're looking for a quick bite before your main meal, definitely give it a try!

Once you order via the tablet, they bring everything directly to your table!

We ordered an iced americano, a hot americano, and a Kumamoto matcha latte.

This matcha latte was so adorable that I had to order it, and it had a rich, authentic matcha flavor – absolutely delicious!

The coffee was also rich and flavorful.

I always find that for family trips, it's best to choose places with spacious seating and no long waits, rather than super popular spots.

Honestly, I initially wanted to visit the roastery next door, but I'm so glad we came here instead!

In one corner of the cafe, you'll find merchandise featuring Kumamon, Kumamoto's beloved mascot.

Beyond Kumamoto-themed products, this spot, much like a rest area, offers a variety of goods, desserts, and ice cream, making it a fun place to browse.

If you're wondering where to grab a coffee near Aso-san and Kusasenri,

I highly recommend douce Nucca, right in front of the Kusasenri Observatory!

You'll need to park here anyway to see Kusasenri (Kusasenrigahama) Lake, so it's the perfect spot to explore the area and then relax.

With spacious seating, a non-crowded atmosphere, clean restrooms, and panoramic Aso-san views, this cafe truly satisfied my entire family:)
