KE787 & KE796 Basic Information |
My Fukuoka trip was a quick 2-night, 3-day getaway. Both flights operated right on schedule on the days I traveled.

Route | Incheon → Fukuoka | Fukuoka → Incheon |

Aircraft Type | B777-300ER | A321neo |

The Main Reason I Chose Korean Air |
The biggest reason I opted for Korean Air on this trip was the checked baggage allowance.
I tend to do a fair bit of shopping when I visit Japan, so I needed to factor in the extra luggage I'd be bringing back.
When I was comparing flights, most budget (LCC) airlines had a checked baggage limit of 33 lbs (15kg), whereas Korean Air's Economy Class offered a generous 1 piece up to 50.7 lbs (23kg) as standard.

Because of this, I didn't just look at the raw ticket price but compared the total cost, including the baggage conditions, before ultimately choosing Korean Air.

KE787 & KE796 Economy Class Seat & In-flight Meal Review |
Flight KE787 was on a Boeing 777-300ER, and the cabin I was in had a 3-4-3 seating arrangement.

Each seat came with its own personal monitor, and you could pick up earphones at the boarding gate.

There was also an entertainment menu with movies, TV shows, and audio options, and I spotted power outlets between the seats.

Given the short flight time, I was curious if an in-flight meal would be served. On the outbound KE787 flight, I received a meal box containing a Paris Baguette egg sandwich, a snack, water, and a wet wipe.

Beverages were served separately from the meal.

Flight KE796 operated on an A321neo, and the cabin I was on featured a 3-3 seating arrangement.

Each seat also had a personal monitor, along with information about in-flight Wi-Fi.

On the return flight KE796, a Paris Baguette Caesar chicken sandwich was provided.

The return meal also came with a snack, water, and a wet wipe. I was able to choose my beverage separately and opted for a beer.

Mini's Planning Tips |
1. If you plan to shop, compare total costs including baggage. |
Since the LCCs I compared only offered 33 lbs (15kg) of checked baggage, Korean Air's 50.7 lbs (23kg) allowance was a crucial factor for my shopping-heavy trip.
2. Always check the aircraft type for both your outbound and return flights. |
KE787 and KE796 used different aircraft types. Instead of just picking a seat number, make sure to check the aircraft type first before selecting your seat.
3. If you're heading straight to your destination upon arrival, allow ample airport time. |
On the day I arrived in Fukuoka, I headed to immigration at 09:47 AM and completed the process by 09:57 AM.
While immigration only took about 10 minutes, remember that baggage claim and customs procedures are separate and will take additional time.
Overall Thoughts |
My round trip with Korean Air to Fukuoka was excellent. Both flights operated on time, and I was very satisfied with the personal monitors and in-flight meal service, even in Economy Class.
Especially if you're like me and plan to do a lot of shopping in Japan, requiring a generous checked baggage allowance, don't just compare flight prices with budget airlines. Make sure to compare the total cost, including the baggage allowance you need.
