Hey there, fellow travelers! If you're anything like me, you probably love catching city skylines at night.
Whenever I visit a city famous for its evening views, riding the local Ferris wheel is an absolute must-do to take in the scenery from above.
Today, I'm sharing my experience riding the iconic Kobe Harborland Mosaic Big Ferris Wheel! :)
Kobe Harborland Big Ferris Wheel
Hours: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM / On-site ticket counter accepts cash only
Mosaic Big Ferris Wheel · 1 Chome-6-1 Higashikawasakicho, Chuo Ward, Kobe, Hyogo 650-0044, Japan

It's located right next to the umie shopping mall and the Anpanman Children's Museum, making it the perfect spot to wind down after a day of shopping or exploring.

To be honest, I traveled to Kobe a decade ago but missed out on riding the Ferris wheel back then. I always regretted it.
So on this trip, I made sure that catching the night views from the Mosaic Big Ferris Wheel was at the very top of my bucket list.

Looking up at the illuminated wheel from the ground level is an experience in itself. Since it's one of the most iconic landmarks of the Harborland nightscape, it's incredibly photogenic.
Ferris Wheel Options & Ticket Prices

The Kobe Harborland Ferris Wheel offers two types of gondolas: standard and premium.
The standard gondola is 800 JPY (~$5), while the premium gondola is 900 JPY (~$6). Each cabin can hold up to 4 passengers.
The premium gondolas allow you to bring food and drinks inside, and the on-site ticket counter accepts cash only.

I bought my tickets on-site, but I later found out that you can book online in advance for around ~$4 per person, which is noticeably cheaper!
If your travel dates are set, I highly recommend booking your tickets online beforehand to save a few bucks.

We paid 1,600 JPY (~$10) for two adult tickets on-site. Note that admission is free for children aged 3 and under.

Once you're up in the air, you get a panoramic view of Kobe Port.
The windows are made of plastic, which can cause some glare and light reflection in photos, but trust me—it looks way more stunning in real life!

As you climb higher, the entire Harborland area unfolds beneath you.
Kobe has a unique vibe compared to typical landlocked cityscapes because of how the ocean reflections blend with the warm city lights.

The ride lasts about 10 minutes. While it might sound short, it's the perfect amount of time to soak in the romantic night views.
Even though it's right by the water, the cabin was incredibly stable. It didn't shake at all, so even if you're afraid of heights, you'll feel completely safe. (And yes, this is coming from someone who gets terrified on mild amusement park rides!)

Looking away from the harbor, you get a beautiful view of the city center.
The streets below were lined with illuminated trees, making the urban side of the view just as magical.

It's the ultimate way to wrap up a day of shopping and dining in Harborland.
Since it doesn't take up too much time, it's an easy, low-stress addition to your itinerary to end your day on a high note.
If you're looking for the best night view spot in Kobe, I highly recommend checking out the Mosaic Big Ferris Wheel! :)
