Planning Your Sendai Adventure?
Here's How to Book Your Kirin Beer Factory Tour!
Hey there, fellow explorers!
I'm excited to share some tips for an upcoming trip to Sendai in early December 2026, where I'm planning to dive into the world of Japanese brewing. Sendai is home to a Kirin Beer Factory, and a tour there sounds like the perfect way to experience a local favorite. To make sure everything goes smoothly, I've put together this guide on how to book your own tour, based on my recent reservation process.
Kirin Beer Factory Sendai Location
📍 Kirin Beer Sendai Brewery
2 Chome-2-1 Minato, Miyagino Ward, Sendai, Miyagi 983-0001, Japan
The Kirin Beer Sendai Brewery is conveniently located near JR Takajo Station. Getting there is easy: just take the subway from Sendai Station, and you'll arrive in about 20 minutes.
Shuttle Bus: Where to Catch It & Schedule

From the South Exit of Takajo Station, turn left and walk approximately 55 yards (about 50 meters). You'll find the shuttle bus stop at platform 3.

Look for the sign pictured above to confirm you're at the right spot. This free shuttle bus will take you directly to the factory in about 10 minutes.

The shuttle bus timetable is shown above. Since the buses aren't super frequent, it's a good idea to coordinate your tour reservation with the shuttle schedule.
Tour Operating Hours

The Kirin Beer Factory Tour runs from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
The factory is closed on Mondays, December 31st, New Year's Day, and during scheduled equipment maintenance. If a Monday happens to be a public holiday, tours will proceed, and the factory will close on an alternative weekday instead.
How to Book Your Tour
👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻
You can make your reservation directly on the English website linked above.

Once you navigate to the site, you'll see this initial screen. Select your country (e.g., Korea in the original, but for you, it might default to English or you can select your preferred language if available).

Since the tour is generally for visitors 20 years or older (Japan's legal drinking age), you'll need to enter your birth year. Once entered, the 'Enter' button will appear below. Note that minors can still join the tour if accompanied by an adult, so keep that in mind for family trips.

Click the Booking button to proceed with your reservation.

Before you finalize your booking, you'll see some important notes.
Online reservations are available for groups of 1 to 9 people. If your party consists of 10 or more, a separate group reservation process is required.
Please note: the tour is conducted exclusively in Japanese.
To avoid potential issues with future bookings, it's crucial to cancel your reservation in advance if your plans change. No-shows may result in denied future reservations.

Scroll down a bit, and you'll find the reservation calendar. Available dates are marked in blue, while unavailable dates are in pink.

After selecting your desired date, you'll move to the time selection page. Each tour session accommodates up to 25 people. For my chosen date, all slots were still open!
The tour costs ~$3 per person. You don't pay when you book online; payment is collected upon your arrival at the factory.

Once you've picked your date and time, you'll proceed to the information input page.

Enter your first and last name, followed by your email address. Be sure to double-check your email, as this is where your reservation confirmation will be sent.
For your phone number, input your mobile number, including your country code (e.g., +1 for the US). This is an emergency contact number in case the tour is canceled due to natural disasters or other unforeseen circumstances. If you prefer not to add a number, you can enter 000-0000-0000.
Finally, select your age range and nationality.

You'll need to specify the number of people in your group by age category (e.g., under 19, 20s, 30s, etc.).
Under Transportation, select 'Free Shuttle Bus' if you plan to use it. You don't need to reserve a spot on the shuttle bus; it operates on a first-come, first-served basis and can accommodate up to 38 passengers per ride.
Lastly, indicate whether this is your first time taking the tour or a repeat visit.

After reviewing the terms and conditions, click the agreement button. This will take you to a confirmation screen of your entered details.

Give your details one final check, then hit the BOOK NOW button, and your reservation is complete!
