Kirin Beer Fukuoka Plant Tour 2026: Getting There from Tenjin

For me, a trip to Japan means beer, so naturally,

I went on another brewery tour!

This time, my destination was the Kirin Beer Fukuoka Plant.

Starting from Tenjin, I’ll cover everything in one go:

the train transfer route, Kirin Garden Coupon prices and how to buy them,

and how to get to the brewery.

*I started from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station.

If you're departing from Hakata, your route will be different,

so please keep that in mind.

How to Get to Kirin Beer Plant: At a Glance

From Tenjin to the Kirin Beer Fukuoka Plant, you'll take the train from

Nishitetsu Fukuoka Station, transfer twice, and then walk.

The total travel time was about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Kirin Garden Coupon

While searching on Yahoo Japan, I discovered the Kirin Garden Coupon!

The Kirin Garden Coupon is a set ticket that includes a round-trip

transportation pass to the Kirin Beer Plant and a meal discount coupon for the Beer Farm.

If you're only planning to visit the brewery, there isn't a huge difference in

transportation costs without the coupon. However, if you plan to dine at the Beer Farm,

purchasing the Kirin Garden Coupon is advantageous.

However, for the Ogori-Tachiarai section, only cash is accepted, and transportation

cards are not. So, if preparing cash is inconvenient, buying the coupon is easier.

Where to Buy the Kirin Garden Coupon

You can purchase the Kirin Garden Coupon at two locations within

Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station: on the 1st floor and the 2nd floor.

Just go to the information desk you see in the photos and say

'Kirin Garden Coupon kudasai' (meaning 'Kirin Garden Coupon, please').

The 1st floor accepts cash only, while the 2nd floor also accepts cards.

So, if you're paying by card, head to the 2nd floor!

I bought my coupon at the 1st-floor information desk, then went through the ticket gate and up to platforms 1 and 2.

We took the express train departing from Platform 2.

The express train is fast, but it doesn't stop at Nishitetsu Ogori Station,

so you'll need to transfer to a local train at Futsukaichi Station.

*If you take a local train instead of an express,

you can go directly to Nishitetsu Ogori Station.

If you took the express train like I did,

get off at Nishitetsu Futsukaichi Station and catch the next

train bound for Ogōri.

Do NOT exit the ticket gates or move to a different platform ❌

Once you arrive at Nishitetsu Ogōri Station,

you'll need to transfer again to Amagi Railway Ogōri Station.

After going up the stairs, do NOT go through the automatic ticket gates.

Instead, show your Kirin Garden coupon to the station staff.

Head towards the North Exit of Nishitetsu Ogōri Station,

and you'll see signs for Amagi Railway Ogōri Station.

Just follow the signs down the stairs,

so even though it was my first time, it wasn't difficult at all.

After descending the stairs, turn right and go straight.

You'll see signs for Ogōri Station all along the way,

so just follow them.

After a short walk, you'll see the entrance to

Amagi Railway Ogōri Station on your left.

Once you arrive, just follow the stairs

all the way up.

Here's one important thing to keep in mind!

At Ogōri Station, after boarding the train,

you need to pull a numbered ticket (整理券) from the machine pictured.

Regardless of whether you have the Kirin Garden coupon or not,

you must keep this numbered ticket separately, so don't forget it!

Amagi Railway operates on a system where you pay your fare

when you exit the station.

Regular passengers can pay with cash (~$2, 290 yen).

If you're using a coupon, show your numbered ticket and coupon when you alight,

and the staff member will tear off one coupon and let you exit.

Once you arrive at Tachiarai Station, your transfer is complete!

From there, the Kirin Beer Fukuoka Factory

is about a 15-minute walk.

Cross the pedestrian crossing in front of the station

and just go straight towards the beer factory.

As you walk, you'll see a supermarket on your right,

and a Lawson convenience store across the street on your left.

If you've made it this far, you're definitely on the right track!

Since I was planning for some day-drinking, I also grabbed some Ukon no Chikara from the supermarket

to prepare myself! 🍺

As you continue, you'll spot a Kirin sign.

Don't go straight here;

instead, cross the road and take the path on the right.

Keep walking and you'll see a sign on your left,

but this is actually the entrance for freight vehicles.

Don't go in here! Keep going for about another 200m (approximately 650 feet), and then

you'll find the brewery tour entrance.

After a little more walking, you'll finally see

KIRIN BREWERY FUKUOKA!

Just follow the "Brewery tour Entrance" sign you see in the picture

and you're there!
