One thing you absolutely should try during your Shanghai trip is

an affordable Shanghai massage.

The place I visited this time is located in the heart of Nanjing East Road:

Many people often visit Taoyuanxiang (Peach Blossom Spring),

but based on reviews saying Kangdao is more affordable and better quality,

I decided to make a reservation beforehand and check it out.

While walk-ins are possible without a reservation,

you can get more than 50% off if you book in advance!

Today, along with my personal review of a Shanghai massage (paid for myself),

I'll also be sharing some golden tips on how to book at a discounted rate.

1. Shanghai Travel Massage Recommendations & Booking Prices

You might be thinking, "Massage in Shanghai, not Southeast Asia? What's that about?"

But if you've come all the way to China,

it's definitely worth trying, as the prices are much more affordable than in Korea.

There's a price difference of ~$7 to ~$15

compared to Korea, allowing you to enjoy it at a very reasonable price.

To get these prices,

advance booking is absolutely essential. ✔️✔️

Especially for Shanghai massages located around Nanjing East Road,

there's a significant price difference between advance booking and walk-in rates.

I booked in advance to get a cheaper rate,

and when I actually got there,

foot massages were around ~$45, and full-body massages were ~$59,

which meant a price difference of over ~$22.

2. Why I Chose Kangdao Over Taoyuanxiang Massage

Truth be told, when it comes to Shanghai massages, many people flock to Taoyuanxiang.

Nevertheless, I chose Kangdao Massage for three key reasons.

2️⃣ Clean and Bright Ambiance

3️⃣ Great Reviews

4️⃣ Open Late

While Taoyuanxiang actually had a slightly darker ambiance,

the Kangdao I visited had a bright, wood-toned interior, which I much preferred.

There was also a small difference in price,

with Kangdao seeming to be about ~$2-3 cheaper!!

What was also great is that you can book up until the day before your visit,

and reservations are open until 11:59 PM,

so it was perfect for us to use after a day at Disneyland.

(A foot massage feels absolutely amazing after a day like that! 👍)

3. How to Get to Kangdao Massage

If you get confused, look for MinisoLand on Nanjing East Road.

It's in the building behind it.

With MinisoLand and Radisson Collection Hotel on either side,

if you go down the alley, you'll find the elevator that takes you to the massage shop.

From here, go up to the 11th floor!

4. My Honest Review of Kangdao Shanghai Massage (Paid by Myself)

The massage shop I visited on this Shanghai trip was

Kangdao Massage on Nanjing East Road.

The bright, luxurious wood-toned ambiance

impressed me right from the first impression.

When I told the staff about my reservation,

they confirmed my name and guided me in,

and thankfully, they could communicate in English, which made things super convenient!

There were three of us, and we booked one full-body massage and two foot massages.

They put us all in one room!

(Which was actually great!)

Even the foot massages were in a private, cozy space, which was really nice.

If you prefer separate rooms,

it might be a good idea to make a note when booking

to request separate rooms.

Before the massage, they served us fruit and various refreshments.

And let me tell you, that tangerine was seriously delicious.

The foot massage started with a foot bath,

and they also gave a light shoulder and back massage,

which felt incredibly refreshing!

The masseuse who worked on me was number 1.

Highly recommend number 1.

It was a treatment using traditional Chinese tea leaves,

and the warm sensation just melted away all the fatigue from my feet after a long day at Disneyland.

Booking a Shanghai massage after Disneyland was

a stroke of genius... You absolutely must do it. Seriously.

don't hesitate—just go for it! :)
