Kamikochi Operating Hours & Vital Tips

✅ 08:00 AM ~ 05:00 PM
While Kamikochi itself does not charge an entrance fee,
meaning you don't have to worry about strict opening hours,
To protect its pristine natural environment,
Kamikochi strictly bans private vehicles (including rental cars) year-round
under the "My Car Regulation Area" policy.

This means no matter how you travel here,
you must transfer to an official shuttle bus or a licensed taxi
at the designated parking areas. Checking the bus schedules beforehand is absolutely essential!

(From Takayama / Matsumoto)

If you are planning to rent a car like we did,
there are only two key parking lots you need to keep in mind.
Just like public transit travelers, you will park your car at one of these lots
and board a shuttle bus to reach the main trailheads.
According to Google Maps,
the shuttle ride from either parking lot is about 10 to 12 miles
and takes roughly 25 to 30 minutes.
We rented our car through Klook and picked it up directly at Nagoya Airport, which was incredibly seamless and convenient.
