When you're planning a trip to Singapore, the first dish that likely pops into your search bar is "Chili Crab." Trust me on this one! Having lived in Singapore for a year, I've had the chance to visit numerous chili crab restaurants with friends and family. Yet, no matter how many other spots I tried, I always found myself coming back to Jumbo Seafood. It's truly a classic for a reason!
Jumbo Seafood boasts several locations across Singapore, allowing you to choose one that best fits your itinerary. For tourists, I highly recommend the Riverside Point branch, nestled right in the heart of Clarke Quay. Its prime location directly in front of the river cruise jetty makes it incredibly convenient for sightseeing before or after your meal.
Just a heads-up: Clarke Quay itself has two Jumbo Seafood outlets—Riverside Point and Riverwalk. Make sure to double-check the location when you're making your reservation to ensure you end up at your preferred spot!
While the restaurant is quite spacious, its immense popularity means that showing up without a reservation often results in a very long wait. If you're planning a dinner visit, securing a table 2-3 weeks in advance is absolutely essential! You can easily make reservations via Google.
Our Menu Recommendations
Crab dishes at Jumbo Seafood come with various sauces, including Chili Crab and Pepper Crab. While both are delicious, I wholeheartedly recommend the Chili Crab – it's a crowd-pleaser that everyone, regardless of age, will adore!
The Chili Crab sauce is a luscious, thick concoction made with a sweet and tangy tomato base, swirled with egg. It's not spicy, making it perfect for dipping succulent crab meat directly into the sauce. It's truly divine! For a party of two, here’s a fantastic order:
One Mud Crab (Chili style, approximately 2 lbs)
Small Cereal Prawns
One bowl of steamed rice
Four mini buns
Beer

Ordering one Chili Crab along with a side dish is usually enough to comfortably feed two people. The Chili Crab sauce is incredibly flavorful, making it perfect for mixing with steamed white rice or dipping those delightful mini buns. We ended up ordering extra rice and mini buns because it was just too good to stop!
While fried rice is an option, it's quite a large portion and can be challenging for two people to finish. If you're dining with a larger group, then opting for egg fried rice instead of plain steamed rice might be a great choice. But for me, as a true bread lover, those mini buns are an absolute must-order!

Next up, a highly recommended side dish: the "Cereal Prawns." When I lived in Singapore, I’d sometimes head to Jumbo Seafood just for these prawns – that's how much I love them!
The magic lies in the crispy, savory, and subtly sweet cereal topping generously sprinkled over the fried prawns. It’s truly a flavor explosion that makes this dish an absolute standout.

For a meal for two, the bill can come out to around ~$148. While it's certainly on the pricier side, I firmly believe that if you're visiting Singapore, experiencing Chili Crab at Jumbo Seafood is an absolute must-do. It's a culinary adventure well worth the splurge! Highly recommended!
