It's an essential stop on the Jinju bakery tour,
a famous salt bread spot that people visit from all over the country.
Their signature is salt bread baked as if fried in butter,
topped with pepper.

Business ends when baked goods are sold out.
Today's lineup and sold-out updates are
posted on Instagram.
Some popular items sell out quickly,
so an "open run" (arriving before opening) is the best way to go!
Weekend Waiting
Catchtable & Open Run

You can register for Pepper Grinder's waiting list via Catchtable,
for both on-site and remote waiting.
Time | Details |
10:00 | On-site waiting registration begins (machine in front of the store) |
10:30 | Remote waiting registration via app begins |
11:15 | Opening · Entry by turn |

Waiting registration starts with on-site waiting.
If you don't enter within 4 minutes of being called,
your waiting spot might be canceled!
If you enter after the 60th spot or after 12 PM,
popular breads are highly likely to be sold out!

The fresh chocolate glutinous rice cake, which is super popular right now,
sells out by the 30th spot.
If you want to buy it, on-site waiting is a must!!

⏰ Average Waiting Time
Approximately 2 minutes per team
(About 20 minutes for 10 teams · 60 minutes for 30 teams)
When there are about 10 teams left,
they'll ask via KakaoTalk if you can visit.
You absolutely MUST confirm your visit to be able to enter!!!

Weekend Open Run Tips

If you arrive around 9:40 AM on a weekend...
It's relatively easy to get an early waiting number, like in the 10s.
Just a few minutes can significantly push back your number,
so it's best to arrive with plenty of time.
Remote Waiting Tips

There's a tip that instead of refreshing the app screen exactly at 10:30 AM,
if you search for "Pepper Grinder"
again and enter,
you can register faster for the waiting list.
After registering for the waiting list, if you're exploring the area and
feel your turn might be later than expected,
you can adjust your entry time using the **Catchtable 'Delay' function**!
Purchase Limits & Store Usage Tips
Purchase Limits
Per receipt

Day | Restricted Purchase Items |
Tue, Wed, Thu | Plain Milk Salt Bread (2 per receipt) Crunchy Brownie Chewy Salt Bread (2 per receipt) Bburin Corn Salt Bread (2 per receipt) Fresh Chocolate Rice Cake (2 per receipt) |
Fri, Sat, Holidays | Weekday restricted items + Pepper Salt Bread (10 per receipt) + Myeongran (Pollack Roe) Salt Bread (10 per receipt) |

It seems that the **restricted purchase items**
aren't necessarily the most popular menu items;
they just seem to be breads made in smaller quantities compared to the number of visitors.

On **weekends and holidays**,
**Pepper Salt Bread** and **Myeongran (Pollack Roe) Salt Bread** are also restricted, but
the limit is up to 10, so it didn't feel like a big restriction.

The most popular item recently, **Fresh Chocolate Rice Cake**,
was **sold out by waiting number 30**!!
Store Usage Tips

It's a good idea to check the **bread lineup on Instagram**
and choose your menu items in advance,
then go in referencing the **bread layout map**.

On your first visit, the sheer variety might feel overwhelming,
but as you pick items while waiting in the checkout line,
you'll find you actually have more time to choose than you thought, which was nice.

The store is small, so sitting down to eat isn't possible, but
there's a **"Standing Bread Zone" where you can eat your bread while standing**.
Salt Bread Review
Here are the breads I purchased this time.
Menu (Recommended) | Price |
Pepper Salt Bread | ~$2 |
Myeongran (Pollack Roe) Salt Bread | ~$3 |
Spicy Chili Myeongran Salt Bread | ~$3 |
Johnsonville Garlic Salt Bread | ~$4 |
Imsil Chili Cheese Salt Bread | ~$5 |
Crunchy Brownie Chewy Salt Bread | ~$6 |
Fresh Chocolate Rice Cake | ~$4 |

✔ Myeongran (Pollack Roe) Salt Bread
**The pollack roe filling is so generous that it oozes out**
**with just a slight press.**
The savory pollack roe, without any fishy taste,
and the buttery salt bread create a perfect combination.
If you love pollack roe, I recommend getting two or more!

✔ Pepper Salt Bread
This is their **signature item that lives up to the store's name**.
The strong pepper aroma makes it distinctly different
from regular salt bread.
If you warm it up in an air fryer, the crust becomes wonderfully crispy.

✔ Spicy Chili Myeongran Salt Bread
This is a spicy chili version of the Myeongran Salt Bread.
If you love spicy flavors, definitely add this to your basket.
The taste reminded me of the famous Ttaengcho Gimbap from Jinju.

✔ Fresh Chocolate Rice Cake (Choco Saeng Mochi)
Chewy glutinous rice cake encases
a rich, fresh chocolate filling.
The texture changes depending on how you warm it.

If you used to always buy it when you went to Japan
and you love Royce Chocolate,
I absolutely recommend buying two of these!!

✔ Johnsonville Garlic Salt Bread
It's got a plump sausage with mustard and
onion flakes on top.
It's not too overpowering, making it perfect as a meal bread.

✔ Imsil Chilli Salt Bread
This one is a cheesy, spicy-flavored bread.
The flavor really comes alive when you generously dip it in the accompanying sauce.
You need to heat it thoroughly in an air fryer for the cheese to stretch nicely.

✔ Crunchy Brownie Chewy Salt Bread
It has brownie inside the salt bread,
giving it a sweet and rich flavor.
Rather than a crispy salt bread,
it's closer to a soft bread texture.
Personally, I found it a little disappointing.

If I visit again,
I'll definitely buy the Fresh Chocolate Glutinous Rice Cake, Mentaiko, and Pepper!!
As for the others, I'd probably buy one of each, depending on my cravings!
Storage & Reheating Tips

When you buy bread, they provide a storage guide along with it.
✔ Salt bread absolutely requires an air fryer
3-5 minutes at 170~180°C

✔ Freeze any bread you can't eat the same day immediately.
→ When you want to eat it, reheat it in the air fryer, and it'll be delicious again.
✔ Cream-based items like pure milk bread or glutinous rice cakes
If you're not eating them right away, you'll need a cooler bag.
You can buy one at the store,
but I recommend bringing your own.

Even with a long wait, Pepper Grinder is
a representative bakery of Jinju that's totally worth the wait.
For onsite waiting, I recommend getting there around 9:40 AM.

While you can choose other breads according to your taste,
make sure to grab their signature Pepper Salt Bread, Mentaiko Salt Bread, and
Fresh Chocolate Glutinous Rice Cake.
