If you ask locals about the best Jjamppong in Jinju,
they'll likely point you to
Jinyangho Jjamppong Main Branch,
a spot even featured on the popular Korean show 'Pungja's Ttogan-jip'.
This main branch, located below Jinyangho Lake,
is only open for three hours during lunchtime.
So, I'm here to give you the quick rundown on waiting, parking, and how to fit it into your Jinju Lantern Festival itinerary.
Jinyangho Jjamppong Main Branch Basic Information

With its bold red sign displaying 'Jinyangho Jjamppong', it's not hard to find.
It's a shame this popular spot is only open for three hours at lunch;
you can't grab dinner here. Even before it was featured on TV,
this was a true local favorite in Jinju, always with a line.
Waiting Tips
The wait has gotten even longer since the TV broadcast.
The system is efficient: you get a number and place your order immediately,
so once you're seated, your food arrives quickly.
Weekend Waiting Time

I arrived just after 12 PM and received number 38.
When I placed my order, unfortunately, the Jjajangmyeon was already sold out.
After sitting on chairs in the restaurant hallway,
I finally got in after a 40-minute wait.
Once seated, the food came out almost instantly.
Parking Location

Before the TV show, you could briefly park in front of the store,
but now parking enforcement is strict, even during lunchtime.

Menu & Taste Review
Menu

Menu Item | Price |
Jjamppong | ~$9 |
Jjamppong Bap (with rice) | ~$9 |
Jjajangmyeon | ~$5 |
Add ~$1 for extra large (all menu items) |
They don't offer dishes like Tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) or fried rice.
However, the Jjamppong comes with so many bean sprouts
it's practically a double portion from a regular Chinese restaurant, so the ~$9 felt well worth it.
Restaurant Interior

The interior has a classic Chinese restaurant vibe,
and it's reasonably spacious and clean.
There are plenty of seating areas suitable for families,
making it a good choice for family visits.
However, the absence of shared dishes might be a slight drawback for families.

If you're craving other menu items,
I recommend the Jinyangho Jjamppong Geumsan Branch.
Many say it's even better than the main branch!

Jjamppong Review

The Jjamppong is piled high with bean sprouts and vegetables,
making the portion size substantial – almost half noodles, half toppings.

The freshly stir-fried ingredients impart a deep, smoky aroma,
and that 'wok hei' flavor carries through to the broth.

There was also a generous amount of pork and squid,
though the squid had a slight seafood scent that was a minor disappointment.

While the Jjamppong with noodles is great,
I personally recommend the Jjamppong Bap (with rice).
The way the Jjamppong broth soaks into the rice grains creates a cleaner, more satisfying flavor than the noodles.
