Jinglai Hotel The Bund East Review: Budget Shanghai Stay
Discover the ultimate budget-friendly stay in Shanghai! Jinglai Hotel The Bund East offers unbeatable value and location right near Nanjing Road.

Budget-Friendly Hotel Pick Near Nanjing Road, Shanghai
Jinglai Hotel starting at ~$38/night

For my recent trip to Shanghai,
I had a quick 3-day, 2-night itinerary,
meaning I'd be spending almost the entire day outdoors exploring.
Because of this, rather than booking an expensive luxury resort,

A prime location for shopping,
easy access to great local food,
and proximity to the Oriental Pearl Tower, Yuyuan Garden, and Disneyland
were my absolute top priorities.
The hotel I ended up choosing cost just ~$38 a night,
offering incredible value for the money.
Located right by Nanjing East Road,
it's a very popular area for international travelers,
which made it feel incredibly safe and welcoming!

A quick heads-up: there are actually two hotels with "The Bund East" in their name,
which can be super confusing when you're arriving from the airport.
The exact name of this specific hotel is
景莱酒店(上海外滩步行街中心店)
You can copy and paste these Chinese characters directly into your map app!
Make sure to verify that the address includes
the number 350!
Address for Amap/Gaode Maps:
山西南路350号(南京东路地铁站1号口步行380米)

Because it's a cozy 2-star hotel,
it shares a building with a few other accommodations.
You'll find the Jinglai Hotel reception
located on the 3rd floor!

Rooms without windows start around ~$38 per night,
while rooms with windows are closer to ~$115.
Since I literally just needed a clean place to sleep,
I booked the ~$38 windowless room.
For a 3-night stay, it only cost about ~$54 per person. Talk about a steal!

Inside the Club Room
Affordable Comfort Near Nanjing East Road

We stayed in one of their standard Club Rooms.
Even though we checked in late at night, the staff was
incredibly accommodating with translation apps
and even taught us how to use local food delivery services.
Their genuine hospitality made our entire stay fantastic!

The Club Room is spacious enough for two people to fully open their suitcases.
I also really appreciated the hardwood floors—
it kept the room from feeling damp or stuffy.

There's a small desk provided in the corner,
which was the perfect spot to enjoy our late-night food deliveries.

The bathroom and shower area were spotless.
With daily housekeeping and fresh towel replacements,
it was easy to maintain a clean space throughout our trip :)

As for amenities,
they only provide toothpaste and toothbrushes,
so I highly recommend bringing your own toiletries!

Why We Loved This Shanghai Hotel

One of the best parts of traveling in China is
the incredible food delivery culture!
Even if you download the Meituan app beforehand,
it can be a bit daunting to navigate
on your own once you're at the hotel.
The reception staff here
were absolute lifesavers.
They helped us set up the app
and even placed our food orders for us!!
Don't hesitate to ask them for help!

Jinglai Hotel The Bund East is phenomenally located.
You can walk to the bustling Nanjing East Road
shopping street in under 10 minutes,

and it's a short stroll to see the stunning night views
of the Oriental Pearl Tower. When it comes to location, this place is unbeatable 🩷

And at just ~$38 a night,
it's an absolute bargain!
